What do the expansion packs do to improve the game? Civ iii was my favourite in the series, V far too dumbed down and basic.

Civilisation is the english shpeeling, Civilization is the game.

Civ5 is my favourite version since Civ2. It's so long since I played the unexpanded game though that I can't really comment on how much is added by the add ons. Some of them are just additional maps and civs, the big expansions were "Gods and Kings" and "Brave New World".

I have lost whole chunks of my life to this series of games (though I never really took to civ4)

This is a stone cold bargain if you get a tenth as much "play" out of the game as I have.

how do you get this to work? using Hola on nuuvem then get to the PayPal pop press confirm then goes back to nuuvem and says region isn't valid (in Portuguese)

It's possible it's region locked (very common with Nuuvem recently) which would explain it not going through. A few people have even found games where they got through PayPal etc and then weren't able to redeem the Steam code in the UK.

If someone can verify this particular game works (having successfully purchased it on Nuuvem themself) then fair enough, I'd be very cautious otherwise though.

Stunning price. Honestly, whilst I appreciated the advancements made to Civ III & IV, I still enjoyed Civ II more than them. Civ V, however, is an incredible game. Certainly for me one of the best strategy games ever made, if not the best with Brave New World. Anyone who is still on the fence with this should not hesitate at this price, and should play it immediately.
