Sainsbury are clearing stuff according to store stock. I got the last BT Xenon twin phone with answerphone pack for £13.50 yesterday at York Foss Island, they'd had triple packs at £19 - just depends.

If you post a deal it is supposed to be of benefit to other people on here. The only way to achieve that is to give the detail of where it is available, specifically. Not, Widget available, UK, £xx. But people need guidance, not berating.

I can believe that the 1TB drive is £16.50 in Sainsburys as I bought the same drive in 2TB format on Thursday evening from Sainsburys Warrington and it was £30.

I don't agree with some people giving the OP a hard time over posting a lack of info. At the end of the day he's posted a deal that may benefit some people on here which if I'm not mistaken is what HUKD is all about!!!

Sometimes you've just got to make an effort and either phone a store or pop down there yourself to check availability (Just like I did on Thursday evening to pick up the 2TB drive and one of the 500GB wireless drives that were posted on another thread!)

No you are not. We already have people posting that they have found a sale with good prices and only mentioning the name of the store. They don't mention any particular item or price. The info requested by HOTUK is quite basic and makes sense. Posting in this half hearted way just makes it harder to see the good deals from posters that make a real effort.

The zelda wii u deal earlier this week was a big one for me, one of the hottest deals of the day, mentioned no retailer or price in the title, nobody actually questioned why or reported it.

While the deal link may take you to a website with the information it's not always the case

the frustrating thing here is that nearly 14 hours later, with nearly 500 degrees of heat, we're still no closer to an answer.

Store specific deals are what ruin HUKD for me. There just a lucky one off most of the time. I could find one store with one open boxed PS4 for £150 off for example and people would go wild for it.

People don't have a 'responsibility' to provide proof, but you've got to be aware that there are a lot of jerks around and some people on HukD will post fake deals either to improve their account status or just to be a jerk. We ask for proof because we don't want to travel all the way to our local stores just to find out the OP was lying - uploading a photo of a receipt is a lot easier and faster than actually going down there to check in person.

, I still don't believe in people demanding proof , i always think i should treat store- specific deals as a heads up if you have to do some other shopping there any way , believe it or not i had some one demanding me proof for an online deal once (yes an online one demanding if it was fulfilled- not just asking ,accused me of heat seeking ??? :confused:) what would i gain by gaining heat ?? seriously ? i try to post on the comments section if i find a better deal now so some one can pick it up

I just got the last one in Chadwell Heath, thanks to the very helpful lady in Customer Services.
The stock system incorrectly shows 3 left (I guess it only updates once every 24hrs).
All that's left there is a 1TB Seagate Backup Slim Plus for £50, and a 2TB Seagate Expansion for £65~.

It's not the fact that people ask for proof or more information on a deal, it's often how they ask that causes the problem. Just a simple 'please' would make a huge difference?

I don't believe it's a problem to post a local deal. A little bit of detail in a post can explain the facts.
I'm sure that someone would appreciate you helping them out in your locality, whilst the rest of the nation can always check if they can be lucky too.

as per my discussion with the customer services at Cheadle, this is the same deal that they had in Jan, but some stores might still be carrying some stock.

I tried fallow field, birch fields, sale, Cheadle. Denton, and nobody has the 2tb or 1tb in stock, (except for sale which had the 1tb one in stock).

I understand what your saying. But to be honest, a local deal, is just a limited availability. Which means only a few people might only get the hands on it. How comes you dont list the reduce bread, and dint tin discounts then?

The tins and bread discounts, as you describe them, are an everyday event in any major supermarket, so I don't see why anybody would list those.
However, if I chanced upon an item with a serious discount in my local stores, I would let the locality know and make the wider audience aware that there is the possibility of said bargain.
I would therefore explain where I found the product and explain that I don't know if this is a nationwide deal.

If only a few people gained from it, so be it, the voting on here is irrelevant as proven by this very deal. Few have confirmed they've found it at the OP'S price , yet it's currently 637° and counting.

In my nearest Sainsbury's they have the 1TB Expansion Slim which is £50.

The packaging is slightly different to the one posted on this deal, so perhaps this why some are scanning at £50.

Disagree with the comments saying these sort of 'local' posts are pretty pointless. If it's a big name store like Sainsbury's, Tesco, etc. then spending a bit of time calling round can be fruitful as it can sometimes be nationwide, just pot luck where. This thread's now 6 days old and I've just picked one up from Sainsbury's in Kempshott, Basingstoke for the £16.50 quoted. I called the Calcot, Reading store who simply told me where they were showing in stock in the surrounding area: 4 stores showed as in stock, only one had one so I bought it, simple as!

If anyone else wants to do the same locally to them, the Sainsbury's SKU code for this product is 128979692. They should be able to tell you where there are any left, if there are any. :smiley:

It is available to everyone, or potentially at least was, if you're willing to do a little homework and put a bit of effort in. I needly one quickly, searched for hard drive deals on here, and it paid off for me. Didn't do anything special, just used common sense.

It's quite obviously a national deal, it's just pot luck where they are and how far you're willing to travel to get one. I got a mate local to the store to get mine once I'd called, it's not hard.

Yup, and got the product code so they could check within a 50 mile radius if there were any in store. Anyone could do it, and the smart ones did by the look of it.

I'm obviously missing something as people seem to have successfully bought his from all over the place, hence it's not just local. By definition the word local is "belonging or relating to a particular area or neighborhood, typically exclusively so" so I'm failing to see how this can be a local offer when they've been bought from many different places?

The logic would suggest that your argument would follow that unless they're supplied at all stores, which they may well have been before this thread was started, and we don't know that, that it's a local deal, but as the facts show that it was available at many stores, my calling the shop showed that at one point most of the larger stores carrying tech equipment within 40 miles of me had it in stock at some point, then it is qas quite likely a national deal.

Everything is local to the area it's in, doesn't mean it's not available elsewhere and therefore nationwide.

Just unlucky that you didn't find one in time, that's all!

May well have been from Inverness to Penzance, and the facts clearly and definitely show that it certainly wasn't in only one area, but we'll never know.

Yup, me too, but only for 24 hours.
There were actually four branches near me showing stock, one of which (Winnersh) had three left according to the system, but when I called they said they didn't normally reserve due to people not bothering to turn up, so it's probably store by store and how nicely you can sweeten them up if they don't normally. As it turns out, they only actually had one in stock and the when they physically checked... it wasn't there so it had been nicked, apparently!

Both the 1tb and 2tb are discontinued products, being replaced by the Seagate Expansion Slim drives. That is why stock is hard to find.

Hence the huge price drop.
