Bought one a few weeks ago for just slightly more. heat added. if you have a HD and are undecided consider this. Fallout 4 was a nightmare for me before I got an SSD. It could take up to 2 minutes travelling from one location to another. Even walking through doors could cause a minute's worth of load time. Everything takes under 12 seconds now (including booting the game from scratch). Do a fresh install. Don't think about cloning. Cloning copies all data blocks, including ones marked for deletion, which means you won't get the most out of Trim. (Google SSD Trim to find out more).

Tip for Fresh install on machines that came pre-installed with Windows 8.0 or newer.

Get a copy of Windows 10 compatible with your existing OS (eg, Home, 64bit) from 'somewhere on the net'. Install and skip where it asks you for your activation key. As long at the license is compatible with your old OS, there won't be a problem. From Windows 8 onward, the activation keys are stored on a ROM in your machine instead of a sticker and are detected automatically.

Excellent price and a good capacity for most users - unless lots of videos, pics or music - in which case for the most part ssd isn't the right choice of storage to use, but for boot drives, app drives and games shrewd upgrade.
As others have said clean install is best option - even if just to freshen the OS up.

omg this is sooooo tempting... I love ultra II drives. I have two already in raid0 and transfers are up to 1.1gb/second. Amazing speed. My boot times are around 6 seconds now with asrock h87 performance board.

I realised that a few of my game library's essential games (GTA V, MGS V, Black Ops 3, Skyrim etc) are storage hoggers. While I have a Samsung 256GB Evo SSD I bought a few years ago, it's nowhere near enough. Those 4 games I mentioned are close to 200GB when installed.

For anyone wanting to migrate their entire HDD to a smaller SSD I can recommend the Sandisk SSD Conversion kit which is basically a lead plus a few other bits allowing you to use Apricorn EZ Gig software.

It took my 250gb of data straight from a 1TB HDD to a 480GB SSD in about 3 clicks!

^^ Or buy a £5 2.5"/3.5" USB caddy and use Macrium Reflect (Free Edition is sufficient) to achieve the same. The caddy can then be used to house the other drive if you only have a one drive system. The software is also pretty good at making bootable backups of the entire disk or individual partitions. I use it as part of my backup regime and hasn't let me down yet.

I went for clean install downloaded win 10 pro using the media creation tool this is the link went for the USB option (no DVD Drive) used windows 7 pro COA on Laptop to activate. Then reinstalled software and data

Due to Ebuyer's wonderful policy of charging £9.99 for delivery to Northern Ireland anything coming from them isn't really a good 'deal' for any of us who live over here. It's quite annoying as they're the only store that I can think of that charges that much extra for delivery to here.

What speed makes the OS boot faster? I have an Evo 850 and my PC boots up in less than 6 seconds now compared to the 20-30 seconds with my old Sandisk?

Isnt that a surprise, apple does it their own way at the customer expense but no doubt at their own benefit.
