My partner received her Gold S6 on Tuesday. It was in mint condition (possibly brand new) and the EE Sim card she inserted worked immediately. She's really happy with it.

Not good to hear so many problems. Mine came (gold) in mint condition and seems to work OK, manages to make calls etc. No chance your sim cards are coming misplaced when putting them in?

Mine shows signal bars with no sim inserted. Really weird perhaps these are demo units.

Have you tried enabling do not disturb and turning brightness down in the gear VR menu?
Not had the issue personally but read that as a solution somewhere.

Yes there's a charging port, however it matters little as the phone will overheat and stop you using the Gear VR by the time you get anywhere near close in needing to charge it. I plan to get some other phone this year, probably not another Samsung and then mod the S6 so that there's only the essential things running on it, then I'll see if that stops it from overheating.

I wake up at 5.30, start work at 7 for 12 hours and by time i get home im usually sitting around 30%.

Gear VR is indeed incredible. The immersion in a game such as Dread halls is unbelievable.

Yes the phone can get hot, but thats to be expected. Phones dont have active cooling like a PC so it is going to get hot when pushed.
Although it does get hot, its never to the point i would worry about it.

Battery drain on Gear VR is pretty quick but yes you can charge while using and has not been a deal breaker for me personally.

Personally Im more than happy with S6. Will I get the S7? Probably yes a year down the line when the prices drop.
Days of spending £600 on flagship phones has passed for me.

The normal s6 is way better than the edge. Edge looks cool, but in retrospect I would prefer the normal s6 as the edge is nothing more than a gimmick

I'm probably going to go for a wallet style case and skip the screen protector as I will be using this with gear vr. The screen protector will probably distort the screen and I can take it in and out easily.

Bargain, Purchased a few as well as spare phones , will put 1 in car in case of emergency In case I'm stuck somewhere and my main phone doesn't works and not able to call RAC to come and change tyre for me.,

Watch out for the Samsung Warranty, it isn't worth the paper it is written on. I purchased a Galaxy S5 when they first came out. Within 6 months the phone wouldn't make/receive calls/texts (I suspect it was a fault with the antenna). The phone went back to the Samsung repair centre but came back in the same condition. I asked Samsung to replace the phone under their Warranty because they had been unable to repair it and it should be replaced. I never heard from them again and they snubbed all further requests.

Forgot to say still hot though for people that can manage with 32gb.

Did that. Twice I got the "I'll have to speak to a supervisor" excuse and noboby ever answers the phone; and on other occasions they just hung up on me.

What, there's going to be a removable battery too?! That's the only reason I'm 50/50 on the S7 atm, I like having 2 batteries, especially on night outs where I'm using my camera a lot.

S7 reverting to type with removable battery. S6 is not Samsung's defining glory, if anything it was a regression.

Currently own a LG G3, will upgrade this year to either a S7 (heard there's a bigger battery and a Micro SD slot) or an LG G5.

Good price. Not used Samsung before but in my experience, the quality control of manufacturer refurbs is much better than that of retailers like Argos and PC World.
