Window treatment Rain X helps keep your windscreen clear. Very good reviews.
Normal price seems to be about £6.48.
I was looking for a solution to noisy wipers and a few recommend this, I'm happy to try it at £5.

I found it works ok as i use it when im cleaning my visor .... basically as i had it for the car i thought i'll give it a go on the visor so i diluted with warm water in a spray bottle, shaked it, and then sprayed on wiping off with a good cloth and it cleans but at the same time gives a bit of protection. I tested a small part of the visor first to see if ok and it does ok i suppose. So when i come in from a good bike run i just shake the bottle and clean my visor and its ready for the next days burn.
For me it works on the particular visor that im using but i wouldnt endorse for anyone else unless they trial it in a test area of their visor ... if you know what i mean

Well I tried it and think it's RUBBISH. Does not work at slow speeds, you need fast motorway speeds to blow the rain off and I'm sure it was responsible for making my wipers wear out sooner. Also agree with other person that it can leave a 'film' and make windscreen smeary at slow speeds - which is actually dangerous - and finally - what is the point? - it means at fast speeds you use your wipers less - so what - what is the benefit of that?

I really like it - I have never had the film that other people have mentioned and I find it really useful.
I think it's clearer whilst in normal rain conditions, but it's brilliant in heavy rain, or when overtaking lorries when the windscreen is normally completely covered and you can't quite see for a second whilst the wipers do their thing. With the rain-x I find that you don't even have that problem - it's clear straight away. In heavy rain that can make a big difference.
You do need to be going above 30 for it to work properly though. Below that, I use my wipers as normal and it doesn't cause any disadvantage. I've not noticed my wipers running out more quickly either.
Anyway, each to their own, but I really rate it. £5 is a good price for this too.

It works at normal speed on all cars I have used it on. Don't understand why it should make wipers wear out sooner. Also meant to help prevent frost on screen.
BTW you should clean wiper blades regularly with vinegar to prevent dirt build up.

In the end I had to resort to meths and even cellulose thinners in an attempt to get it off - still not fully effective!

RainX doesn't last very long and needs to be reapplied constantly to maintain efficiency. Aquapel is a better bet.

Recently used this on wife's car. As soon as screen got wet it went smeary and, in low sun, difficult to see out. Don't know why (maybe because it was an old bottle?) but very dangerous and took ages to remove with all sorts of cleaners and solvents. Will never use it again!

This is exactly my experience of Rain-X too, applied to 3 different cars and all had the same smeary results.
I only use Autoglym Glass Cleaner on my windows, works a bit like windolene.

I used on my last car from the day it was delivered and it was fine. Never any problems.
i bought it for use on a new Golf because my previous Scirrocco was a sod when it rained for brown water collecting on the side windows and obscuring the wing mirrors.
It would be especially useful in a saloon with no rear wash wipe.
It makes cleaning the car easier too. Bargain for a fiver.

2 weeks to a month, it really depends on how much usage your car gets though. I use mine to drive to work so 40 mins a day roughly.
One thing I would recommend is cheap Aero wipers from ebay, you can get a set for £5 and chuck them after a years use.
I wonder if the people that have issues follow the instructions properly, and clean their wipers at the same time?

great product for motorway driving in the rain, if halfords isn't local it's £4.99 in the range

Much better products out there. This stuff can cause wipers to judder and cause excess wear on them. Also can leave a film which can obstruct vision and this needs to be re-applied fairly often. Would recommend Fusso Glaco or Gtechniq over this, will cost a bit more but worth it when windscreen and wipers are a safety feature on car.

Awful awful stuff, I will never put it anywhere near my windscreen again, it dries the rubber out on the wipers, you use them less, but when you do, they judder like mad. And even changing them makes no difference, this takes months and months to come off the screen.

I tell you what does work, used it for the first time today, works like a dream. Raincoat Pro. It comes at a price though. £17.99 a bottle! It did the business today in London when there was a brief downpour. It really does work, just a shame it's so damm dear.

LOL - they don't state the law of physics on the pack - 'only beneficial when raining & passing lorries at high speed on motorway'!

I never seen the point of it really, and if your screen is not PERFECT, ultra clean and smooth when you apply this, it is not as effective often leaves a nasty residue as it degrades (it's silicone based) that can be ugly, a dirt magnet and time consuming to remove.
Buy good quality wipers and replace them regularly (they are ridiculously cheap, there is no excuse) keep your screen wash bottle topped up and wash your car every so often- you know, things normal people do. Then you won't need stuff like this which can be a right pain.

Love this product. Was informed once before though by a car mechanic that they never use the stuff. Apparently, like another poster said above, it forms a film on your screen and eventually causes damage to your wipers.

Yes this is a great product. been using this for over 10 years!
But agree with 'snowee' that you need to be at a certain speed before the water runs off. But the use is not just getting the water to run off the screen. Water beads and actually makes windows more visible as the water is not spread out over the window making it smeary.
Make sure you buff it off as I find it lasts longer when buffed off.

EXCELLENT STUFF, looks like you are doing warp speed when driving in the rain.
LET IT DRY BEFORE YOU BUFF IT OFF. If not you end up chasing it around the windscreen.
GOOD IF YOU HAVE A DASH CAM higher up on the windscreen above the wiper arm reach.

1. using wipers when its not raining
2. worn wipers
Apparently after a while it becomes all gunky and horrible?

This really does work, well worth a try. Water just beads off the screen, particularly at motorway speeds - it does reduce the need to use your wipers as soon as there is any spray at all.
