A5100 is a lot smaller and looks better imo, its also currently £390, so quite a bit more expensive.
The S1 has an excellent 100% field of view Pentaprism Viewfinder, whereas the A5100 has no viewfinder.
There are a lot more lens aviailable for the S1.

this is a much more complete camera and much better value, it is bigger and incredibly ugly with lesser AF performance though
half frame eh? you are way up there with those tech terms... :confused:

I picked one up via Ebay from cameracentreuk for £225 last week. I don't think you can get better for the money IMO. Loving it so far stepping up from a Nikon Bridge camera.

I don't care for flashy lights and gizmos, I'd just want to know that it took really decent photos. I'm still going to get the Nikon D5300 later this year I think, this hasn't changed my mind.
Not a bad price at all, Pentax DSLR's are seriously underrated.

The great thing about this camera missing the mark as a 700D/D5500 competitor is that the regular price drops make it an awesome prospect compared to the entry level DSLRs of Canon/Nikon. Raw image quality doesn't quite match up to the sensor in the D3300 but the feature set this camera packs for the same price is nuts.
Well, as long as you don't mind the blinky lights.
