My 11-year-old is already complaining that the new original version he got at Christmas is already sticking and not fast enough. These speed cubes sound a great idea, but which one should I go for? Dayan zhanchi or Moyu aolong?

I found my original from ~30 years ago the other day... it is sooo smooth in action.

These will be the stickered cubes not ones with the colors on the tiles. At least the ones in home barging at £4.99 were. The tile ones are about £10

The turning quality on the Rubik's branded cubes aren't that great. You'd be better off getting a fairly cheap speed cube. You can find plenty of these on eBay and sites like lightake. I haven't been keeping up to date with speedcubing so I don't know what's popular at the moment but I can recommend the Dayan or ShengShou brands. This cube in particular is one of my favourites http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=dayan+zhanchi&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Speed cubing? Honestly, kids these days. When I were a lad we just stuck to class A drugs, thank you very much.

Paid £9 on amazon, nice deal
Imo these new models are in desperate need of vaseline :stuck_out_tongue:
Is there any mechanical difference in the 40th anniversary edition in home bargains?
Or should I just try the speed cube next

Do these have the stickers or solid tiles?

2013 onwards came the 'tough tiles' versions, so should be solid i believe:)
