Just noticed that OnePlus are currently offering their rather smart looking OnePlus X (no invite and with priority delivery) for the standard price of £199.99 (Onyx or Champagne) but if you add the code XOXO at the checkout they will throw in a real Rosewood cover.
The more expensive ceramic version is available for £269.99.
All things considered this is a very good phone with a premium look and feel, quite like a larger, rounded off iPhone 5S, but with a better operating system ;-)
Here is a recent review.... http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/oneplus-x-1307733/review
So how does this compare to an S6? I'm an iPhone user and have been for about 8 years now I think (guessing based on the models I've had), and the only phone I can settle on to draw me away from iOS is the s6 edge. What premium features does this have? Anybody?

The S6 is in a different league to this.... but then it costs more than double to buy sim free.... you can't really compare them to be honest.
The most appropriate comparison would be perhaps against the Google Nexus 5X which I believe is about £100 more
Despite me thinking the phone is good value, the camera has proved to be a big disappointment to me. Saying that, I downgraded from the iPhone 6 Plus so I shouldn't expect miracles!
Personally I'm finding the clarity lacking, especially in low light, and the white balance seems off a lot of the time.
Even so, it's still a good deal especially with the case and delivery thrown in.

Here is a video review of the Rosewood case.... I personally like it and think it looks classy.... some may not, one of those love or hate things I guess...
It's a mid range phone. You should not compare it to a flagship phone from Apple or Samsung. The camera cannot compete with the S6 or 6S.

Thanks mate. Just read the review on techradar and straight away I'm talked out of it. The very reason I'm looking for s6 alternatives is price. Sick of paying out huge amounts of hard-earned for a phone, when all I do is watch youtube and netflix and stuff on it. Obviously that is nowhere near *all* I do on it, but it seems that's what I use it for mostly.

you should be looking at the 1+2 then, I read apart from the camera it has the same sort of spec at £250

So so tempted to upgrade from the original Nexus 5 to this. Looks so nice. Just wish it had a better camera and front facing speakers, but I know at this price you can't have it all....Hot deal.

Funny story, I just went from the OPX back to my Nexus 5. Battery wasn't a huge improvement, and you could hardly notice speed difference from day to day use. The only good thing was the AMOLED display.

I've owned the N5 for about a year and a half. I also own one of these and this is by far a better overall phone.

Just a few thoughts from me, having owned one of these.
The Oneplus X wood covers are not very nice if you ask me - I had the beech one and it doesn't feel like part of the phone - felt a bit clunky. I preferred the TPU one that came in the box. The Oneplus Setup is much better, since it actually replaces the entire back panel.
I would advise people to use the included case at the very least, since this is one of the most slippery phones I've ever seen when it comes to placing it on fabric - such as the arm of a chair. It even outdoes the iPhone 4 and Nexus 4!
Phone feels like a million dollars on the whole - if you like a phone that feels nice you won't be disappointed.
The camera is very average. It's nowhere near as good as the Nexus 5X, G4, S6 etc. Having said that the Oneplus 2 camera is just as average.
It has no 5GHZ wifi, if that is something you like to have.
The screen is nice enough, especially if you're a fan of AMOLED.
It's a nice size in the hand. I preferred that aspect of it to the Oneplus 2, which I had at the same time.
It's nice and snappy navigating the UI.
Comes with a screen protector fitted out of the box, which is a nice touch.
No NFC, so no Android Pay
No fingerprint scanner - and personally I've come to like these. Even budget Chinese phones are starting to get very decent fingerprint scanners these days.
I wouldn't personally say that it's as good as the Nexus 5X by any stretch of the imagination, unless you long for an SD slot. Everything else is much better on the Nexus (with the exception of premium feel, which the OPX also definitely has). Sold one of these on a tech forum I'm part of for £160 in the end as it just felt neither here nor there. If you want a cheap phone that feels nice, the Ulefone Paris might be a better choice. If you want a phone with all the mod cons for a relatively affordable price then I'd splash out a bit more and go with the Nexus 5X or the G4 - especially if you want the

I did the exact same, went from a Nexus 5 to this. Worst thing is that the power button is half way down the side instead of near the top - took ages getting used to it, but overall i would say this is an excellent phone for the price

"There are issues with the OnePlus X, and one of the them is the processor. That stuttering while playing high-intensity games, and even during video playback on occasion, is a real concern.
The lack of NFC means Android Pay won't be supported on the OnePlus X, and the lack of fast charging, wireless charging or microSD support are notable omissions across the OnePlus range."
Something to keep in mind!

This is not quite correct...
As I understand it the phone was rushed out and the operating system was not sufficiently developed however it has been updated since, admittedly I haven't had any need to really research this further but I think it is likely that most, if not all issues will have been ironed out. That said I have a 18 month old OnePlus One.... a much mocked phone supposedly plagued with issues but mine is still going strong and as much as I try to justify a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus or a Nexus 6P I just can't.
Also and really important is to say that the OnePlus X supports MicroSD cards up to 128GB... there's not many flagship phones that can make that claim.

Thanks for this. Always great to hear how others have fared when thinking about something like this. It does have a lot going for it in terms of it's pretty much the same size and weight as the N5 but with the SD card slot and improved specs. Just shows you the N5 takes some beating. And I know this, that's why I am still struggling on what to get next. The 5X was not the phone I hoped it would be. But ready for an upgrade now, N5 not like it was 2 years ago. Just refuse to have a 5.5" screen!

I have had an oppo find 7 for 8 months and its by far the best phone iv ever had and I am looking to get an oppo R7s or R7+ worth looking at as an alternative to all of the above.
I will back that up. I received my 1+1 and had touch screen calibration issues the first day I got it (very early I might add). Within a couple of days I had an OTA which changed the usability of the OS completely. Since then I haven't had a single problem till this post I'm making on it right now. Cannot comment on the OPX build quality, but we have a OPO and OPT between us and I was astonished each time by the build quality of and aesthetics them.

I've been using the Oneplus X for a number of months.
Great screen, great performance, great price.
The camera is average in daylight, and TERRIBLE at night.
Official cases are actually crap imo, my Nillkin fits far better than both the Kevlar and Rosewood ones I tried. Odd that cases designed by OP themselves don't fit as well as a third party one.

The difference between battery for me between the N5 and OPX has been night and day. With the N5 I'd take my phone off charge at 8 and be reaching for my charger again at 2pm. With the OPX I can get through to midnight before needing to charge, sometimes even longer
This is a great phone for the money, managed to get a cheap case of ebay (brand "Pelosi"), which is more than adequate and feels nice in the hand.

Well... that's somewhat subjective I guess... I like Apple hardware, but I hate iOs and also Mac OS, that said many people love them.... I haven't seen any iPhone 5S's for this money though.

How do these compare to an S5?
Looking for an upgrade, and too worried about making a side-step. Not entirely sure whether to shell out the extra money for the One+2 either, but it seems like that would be the better choice considering the resale value of an S5.

S5 would have a better camera I think, but otherwise I'd say performance would be similar I think, perhaps a touch in favour of the OPX. The One Plus Two might be the better upgrade for you?

I've had one of these since November and am very, very happy with it.
I'm using it with a 128gb sd card. Works great. Some minor problems were ironed out quickly with ota updates. Better than equivalent Sony and Samsung midrangers and beautifully made hardware wise. Bit slippery without a case on. One comes free in box. I bought the bamboo one with the phone. Feels great in the hand and looks good.
It's a bit bizarre how it gets compared with flagship handsets, or midrangers that are 100quid more. Most of the midrange competition have bigger screens, which you might want, but the opx was the absolute largest size I would be prepared to buy.
Ticked all the boxes for me. Your milage may vary.
