Anyone considering a One Plus phone should spend 20 minutes browsing their forums as this is the place you will be turning to for "support". I have a One Plus One (since November 2014) and although I've not experienced any major issues, when the time comes for a replacement I won't be looking at One Plus as good support is worth paying for.
Isn't there some story or issue with the USB-C on these..... seem to recall something being reported somewhere.
EDIT: Shame no NFC either.... was so close to ordering. Not a biggie now but not future proofed (as much as these things can be) without NFC.
EDIT 2: No fast charging either.... i'm out!

They do fast charge but the usb type c standard doesn't allow it - so they owned up and said their cable and plug are not standard, so don't use them with anything else or they might fry it.

Well you can use the cable on other devices, it is just it doesn't detect if the charger is powerful enough. So if you try to use the included cable on a macbook with a low amp charger... You'll blow the charger up.
It is a problem with a LOT of 3rd party cables too.

Seriously, how many people contact their phone manufacturer for support? I've never had any software issues with my phone, and if it's a hardware problem, for the majority (99.9% of the time) it will be due to the user. I see literally no reason for the manufacturer to offer support.

My OP2 was faulty in November a couple of weeks after I got it. Fingerprint sensor issue. Took until January to get them to accept RMA. Sent it & haven't heard anything for a month. Even when chased. I've had my Oneplus Two for 6 months and it's never skipped a beat. If you do enough digging you can find fault with every phone on the market, including flagship phones by Samsung S6 and Iphones small batteries, LG G4's random reboots including being stuck in a boot loop.
parasitemol
26 Jan 161#29
I had an OPO for a few months before passing it to my girlfriend, never skipped a beat and a year or so later is still running as smooth as day one. Battery and performance are still awesome, preferred it to my LG G4 and my current Honor 7.
The camera on the original one is awful in anything other than perfect light, I believe this has been rectified somewhat with OIS and laser autofocus on the new unit but I wouldn't expect that aspect of it to be as good as flagships from Samsung, LG, Apple or Sony.

I have had this phone for 3 months and it is great. Unless you regularly use nfc you will not miss it. I know I don't have a use for it. My bank card has nfc for wireless payments
The charging is super fast with the new USB C format
It's the most stylish phone out but it is Big so it is difficult for one hand maneuvers.
The camera isn't on par with the s6 or g4 but it is still of good standard, I find the front camera to be pretty **** though if you are a selfie addict that might disappoint you.
Fingerprint is great and being able to turn on the flash light or the camera with a swipe when the phone is off is great

Charging is slow. There's no "usb-c" technology - only the connector. It's not an issue for me, but this is a fact.
The software is buggy and extremely slow. I am surprised you have not noticed this. At one point you couldn't even use the Facebook app. It's much slower than most android phones. I think there is a flawed implementation of the chipset.

As much as I hate them for their stupid marketing practices (which evidently do work) at this price I have swallowed my pride and ordered one.
They are not a 'small' company struggling to make a buck (or Yen). They are a subsidiary of the mighty Oppo. Honor uses similar tactics but not quite so irritating. You can buy an Honor 7 for £250 any time (mostly) but every 3-4 weeks the price goes down to the 'actual' price of £210. Cheapest it has been so far is £175. Honor is a subsidiary of the mighty Huawei but at least don't try and hide it.

I disagree, it's good to have a discourse on how well the phone in question performs and how it stacks up against its rivals, so one can make an informed decision. I am always wary of manufacturers knocking down prices of their products, especially when the specs are good on paper because it is either end-of-life or there is something wrong with it!

The code was working around 8am this morning. I did not order but wanted to check its validity. You need an account set up with Oneplus as you apply the code at the check out, I had previously ordered the OPO so just logged in and it worked.
I've not owned the OnePlus 2 but preferred the OPO to the LG G4 in every way (including screen) apart from the camera, which on the original OPO was well shoddy even in well lit indoor scenarios.

26 Jan 16#46
I agree with you there and an informed decision can also be made from the countless number of mobile phone review websites out there. I also love that people who have owned the phone and have left comments about their experiences. It helps in making a decision.
What gets me is that the entire thread then turns in to a slagging match between different phones when it should be about the deal.

Had one for a couple of weeks. Bleed through on screen, strange blue dot on black screen as well. Camera ok, but not great with aperture and slow-ish AF. Battery life good, but phone could get quite warm at times.
Returned it ( although this was an arduous process of over 20 emails and poor responses, had to involve paypal in the end).
Now have an LGG4. Have not looked back. Significantly cheaper. Camera infinitely better, much better in low light and fast autofocus, optical IS. Micro sd card. Battery life readily gets through a day, and at a push up to two. Doesn't heat up as much as the oneplus. The only difference in practical terms is the dual sim.

Dual SIM but no microSD slot right? Plus it's only a 1080p screen compared to the 2k screen of the G4.
This is a great phone if you need dual sim and has excellent battery life (normally have 40% remaining at the end of each day). It has a chunky and well made feel. The Oxygen software is perfect and as close to stock android as you need to get get. The only thing which could be improved is the low colour saturation on the screen, seems a bit pale.

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have the right to return within 14 days of delivery provided certain conditions are met. Essentially, as long as the item isn't like software, movies, music or a bespoke product (not an exhaustive list), you should be eligible to return it even if you just changed your mind.
You are liable for return postage but should be refunded your full initial purchase price, unless you paid extra for expedited delivery, in which case you'd be refunded for the price of the item.

Well, apart from supporting the small number of people that you have sold a faulty/broken phone to. Ethically and commercially, that is important.
I had to return a opx where the notification slider was stuck in the no notifications position. This made the phone pretty useless. It took oneplus six weeks or so. It required me to submit and reply to a support ticket around 15 times.
Even though I am perfectly capable of flashin a ROM myself in 10 minutes, they insisted that I commit to a session with an engineer who did this remotely. This was to rule out a software error. Took them over an hour with me sitting there.
Total waste of time.

It all comes down to piece of mind. If you are paying £250 for a phone, you don't want to have to jump through hoops to get a refund/get your phone replaced if it is DOA or fails during warranty. If you buy from Amazon or from the high street, most of the time you can just return your phone with ease. Have a look at the One Plus forum and you will see horror stories of people needing to send videos of their phone to show the problem, One Plus taking ages to respond and a lot of complaints where One Plus say the user has damaged their phone and offering a repair service for £70.

Got them to send it back, took it to a local repairer who charged £35 and then gave it away. Won't be buying a Sony phone either as a replacement for my OPO. (Should point out that I also bought a OPO for my daughter to replace the Xperia Z so I'm not against the OP phones, just their poor CS).

Dyslexia is a neurological disorder which typically hinders reading and spelling. It does NOT include convoluting entirely different words/contractions. You are not dyslexic, but thanks for bringing that up in an internet argument to try and win points.
The difference between their/there is so simple it leads me to believe you are either still in primary school or are senile to the extent of some sort of memory disorder. In either case, it does not want to make me believe anything you're saying as truth.
To be honest, I'm not seeing that at all. For instance, they rolled out OxygenOS 2.2.0 to the OP2 last month and to the OPX on Monday (yes, just two days ago). To claim they don't support their products is disingenuous.
Physically, the phone is very well manufactured, both in terms of build quality and hardware. The majority of posts on their forum are people complaining they dropped/damaged their phone and it broke - well, yes, that's obvious. You wouldn't drive over your laptop then rant at Dell for a new laptop.
I'm not at all straw manning at all, and if anything, it's ridiculous to call out a whole company based on the vocal minority of a few users seeking help. Obviously no one will sign up to the OPO forum to sing their praises, despite the fact 99.9% of the users are free of trouble.
What people are saying is that videos are sometimes asked for to help diagnosis (which is perfectly reasonable) or users are to pay a repair fee for diagnoses and fixing of their phones. Apple does this, and they charge more than twice (thrice?) the price for the standalone phone and a diagnosis fee on top of that. So I honestly have no idea why people think OP are worse at support than other companies.
I own a OP2 and it's served me brilliantly thus far. I've not encountered any issues and I just rooted and flashed my phone with a custom ROM - something normal users wouldn't do as it can decrease stability/increase or introduce new issues. Despite this, I've still not had any problems with my phone.
The phone is not that expensive and all the "research" you've done is from siding with some nutter on a UK deals website. The quality is definitely not questionable and the support is normal within the industry. As a product, it's far superior to other phones on the market at this price bracket. Miles better.

Fine, whatever. I won't discuss it with you any longer if neither of you can put forth any valid arguments.
For everyone else who's interested: it's a great phone at an exceptional price.
Not heard of any issues with the fingerprint sensor, but obviously some users will invariably have issues with it. In fairness to the reddit thread linked, if the phone is a year old and potentially out of warranty, and the user hasn't insured the phone, then there's not much the guy can do. It seems their support team was more than willing to help, but simply technically unable to.
If the OP can't load a VM/use a friend's PC/go to a library then I have no idea what else they're capable (or not) of doing

Geez, I've been really tempted to buy the Nexus 6P as a huge Nexus fan, but I was stuck between that and the OnePlus Two as well because of the price difference. Now a discount? I'd be a fool not to just go for this to be honest and save myself £250!!

I wish they had this sale at the start of the month (when January sales are supposed to be on) I would have bought this phone in a heartbeat. I bought an LG G4 from ebuyer instead. No complaints about the LG though as it has turned out to be a cracking phone for similar money but the One+ would have been my first choice.
quaium to presterjohn71
29 Jan 16#150
Can I ask why the OnePlus would've been your first choice? I can't decide between the LG G4 and the OnePlus 2. I was leaning more towards the LG after reading reviews and comparing the two phones. The LG seems to come out better and is a little smaller which is always nice.
presterjohn71
29 Jan 16#151
To be honest with you the LG was just not on my radar and for what is a great phone no one actually seems to be that interested in it. Having now bought it I think it is a terrific little phone.

I sent back a G4 and got a OP2 because the battery didn't last me a day and the screen though it was nice doesn't need to be 1440p all it does is waste battery, you really can not tell the difference

If it helps any, I just got through a full day of use and the battery was still above 60%, and that's with resource intensive apps like Snapchat being used. I've tweaked it a bit using BetterBatteryStats and the like though, so I wouldn't expect great battery use OOTB. The physically battery being 3,300mAh definitely helps though - for comparison, the iPhone 6+ only has a 3k mAh battery I think

Yes really. I only wanted to check if there was any delivery charge and make sure the discount code worked.
Can't get anywhere near that without creating an account - first major fail.
Create a throw away account having to click on pictures of eggs then ice cream or something before it will tell me the name of the account was already in use - second major fail.
Try again with more clicking on pictures of pickup trucks the flowers to discover I need to read the email they sent to the fake email address I gave them - next major fail.
Try again with a throw away but valid email address and more clicking on pictures of flowers and road signs and click on the validation link in the sent email.
Try to log in again with a now validated account and password and I still have to click on pictures of cookies (they are called biscuits, but somewhere during this farce the site decided I was american and started showing $ prices), then pictures of something else probably because I couldn't tell which little brown splodges were supposed to be biscuits.
And it tells me the account and password combination are not valid. Try again with more clicking on pictures of something and still not valid and I give up in disgust.
Accusing a new customer apparently trying to buy your product of being a robot over and over is a monumental fail on top of a large fail requiring them to create an account before getting near their basket. It inspires zero confidence in me that they can do anything else right.

only 40 difference, now £90! it would have been a no brainer, voting hot.
But
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=210&t=1569397&mid=40544&nmt=FFS+bloody+phone+got+stole
It would look mighty suspicious to Amazon.
EDIT: Shame no NFC either.... was so close to ordering. Not a biggie now but not future proofed (as much as these things can be) without NFC.
EDIT 2: No fast charging either.... i'm out!
Don't use its cable on any other device.
Ozrly is doing proper USB-C compliant cable on Amazon.

It is a problem with a LOT of 3rd party cables too.
The camera on the original one is awful in anything other than perfect light, I believe this has been rectified somewhat with OIS and laser autofocus on the new unit but I wouldn't expect that aspect of it to be as good as flagships from Samsung, LG, Apple or Sony.
Horses for courses and all that
I have had this phone for 3 months and it is great.
Fingerprint is great and being able to turn on the flash light or the camera with a swipe when the phone is off is great
Top phone at a great price.
If you are after a top flagship wait until next months new releases and pay triple the price
Sure it could have been a good phone. But it isn't. There is also no support & it is very unreliable. OPO was good. OP2 not good.
Excellent words.. also the 1+2 is not boot loader locked from scratch, which from now the Honors are [not a
big issue as you can request an unlock on the forum with a valid reason why] and this is also a good price
point for the spec..
The post is about the deal... not how good the phone is or how it compares with the LG G4 (yes, it can be comparable at the original price but not at £249). 4GB RAM, 64GB Memory, 64-bit processor, finger print reader, 5.5 inch 1080p display... find me another phone at that price with those specs and then we can start comparing!
*rant over*
I've not owned the OnePlus 2 but preferred the OPO to the LG G4 in every way (including screen) apart from the camera, which on the original OPO was well shoddy even in well lit indoor scenarios.
What gets me is that the entire thread then turns in to a slagging match between different phones when it should be about the deal.
I had a bit of fumbling around with the address but got it to work eventually, it didn't seem to like having a separate billing and delivery address.
Does this phone support the Vodafone 4G service?
I've decided to skip the Oneplus Two because I'm still happy with the performance of my OPO and I think they missed a trick by not including Fast Charge and NFC. I'm going to wait and see what they bring out next.
Is this the one for £120......
Would have went for this but im waiting on the Xiaomi Mi5 to see how that is.

Never used NFC.. dont need more than 64gb... so device is perfect, for the £280 I paid, Im happy!
I read the reviews and took a punt, its the best thing I've done.
heat from me!!
The service is some of the worst I have ever experienced. My girl's developed a fault within two weeks and it took six weeks for a replacement to arrive. Christmas was in the middle to be fair. Nevertheless.
Still waiting on the replacement glass screen protector some nine weeks later. Given up on that. Been a total stress.
For those party to the deal, it reminded me of the lg g2 deal from Vodafone last Christmas but much worse.
I will never buy from oneplus again. Buyers better hope nowt goes wrong with their phone.
Unless official cyanogenmod rom comes out very strong, this 1+2 will just fall short...
Here's the full spec comparison COMPAISON
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lg-g4-pay-go-now-225-vodafone-online-2372221
Had the OnePlus 2 for around 6 weeks. One of the main reasons behind ditching the device was the pathetically slow charging speed, compared with something like an S6 or Nexus 6P.
You are liable for return postage but should be refunded your full initial purchase price, unless you paid extra for expedited delivery, in which case you'd be refunded for the price of the item.
For more details, see Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013
good deal by the way OP
With the OnePlus Two I easily get two day use.
Quick charge does not make up for poor battery life
I had to return a opx where the notification slider was stuck in the no notifications position.
It's not a small amount of money to just say screw the folk that have problems.
They're probably not as vocal as those that have had issues though....
Please wait, while I sign up to the Motorola Forum and post up that my phone is working great.
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/touchscreen-issues-we-hear-you.309395/
& they have deleted over 600 more pages.lol
"All the "research" you've done is from siding with some nutter on a UK deals website"
You know nothing about the "research" I have done

Now, you may argue that all phones have issues. True, but most manufacturers have decent RMA procedures to help rectify the problem. Not completely shun you out because you do no have access to a Windows PC
