I know there are lots of deals on here for these boxes, and a 2 for £10 at Curry's.
I went to get 2 for £20 offer at Curry's, but was told that I don't need to buy 2, I could actually get 1 for £10 instead. This offer works on any of the packages (Movies or Entertainment or Sports)
Thought it was worth a post if anyone only wanted one box, and lived close to Currys.
To get it for £10, you need to take the box you want to the counter. They will then scan it, and ask them to check the Customer Offers button. I think it was the second option down. After a few seconds, the price then changes from £14.99 to £10.

That is strange, as I saw the assistant put in the customer offer, it didn't mention anywhere that you needed to buy a tv as well. Once they clicked on the customer offers, they picked the second option on the list. Then on the next screen, they just waited for the price to change.

Our local Currys also said they were only £10 if purchased with a television too. However, they are currently selling the box with six months entertainment for £25 at Tesco Direct. Asked Currys to price match, so they gave us a £15 3 month voucher and the box with another three months on for £25, so technically got around it and managed to get it for a tenner.

lee your missing the point , he is saying that the currys store was incorrect that is blaming some one , i just think he should have said thanks but i was unable to get mine like you got yours , its not too much to ask is it especially after he asked for the person to post a receipt which is proof which meant he did not believe the person got it for a tenner without buying another item or a tv , because to me that 2 different answers and yet when the person put a photo of the receipt he still said the store was wrong , in fact that store who done the deal might have had it on an offer without buying another item or tv , there could be many reason why the person got it for a tenner but to call someone wrong is idiotic because he was not there at the time it was bought

Am I right in saying that in order to get any functionality at all, even for the free channels, you need to put your credit card details in as part of the activation process. I appreciate the card doesn't get charged unless you go beyond the free trial time limit but what if you don't have a credit card or don't want to put in your details? I bought one from Sainsbury's, thinking of returning it, would be good to know for sure, seems to be a lot of contradicting advice on the Googles and Youtube. Get the impression there isn't a workaround, any more?
amour3k to Noclouds
27 Feb 16#88
Yeh, you need to input a Credit or Debit Card into their System for your NOW TV Box to initially work!, but after that ..... (deleting your Card Details is then up to you?)

I read in one customer review that if you remove your credit card details, you are back to being shut out, that the credit card details are a security precaution, or something to that effect. I don't know if that's true. My plan was to open the box and wire in an audio out socket, from the HDMI socket, as my computer monitor doesn't have speakers. Now I'm thinking it's a bit of a pain. I'm not hugely enthusiastic about helping fund Sky but I thought as the box was made by a third party, that wasn't a thing. I just wanted a cheap way to access free to view content, without the security risk or accidental debit risk of giving my card details. Sorry, I know it's a bit off topic but if someone knows of a cheap and legal way to add free channels to my computer or via a cheap box without credit card details, I would be keen to know.
Back on topic, I voted hot, cheaper than Sainsbury's where I bought mine for £15 and thought that was pretty good.

To those asking if there is a work around for not putting in debit or credit card details. Can you not buy one of those prepaid debit cards like 3v or the old Orange card (optimum) and use those details?
That way they cannot take any payments greater than the balance on the prepaid card. And if you use the balance elsewhere, there won't be nothing left to take. Or leave a small balance in case they recheck the card at other times.

There are lots of these deals where people are buying a box in order to get a cheap pass, I've got three boxes now myself. It makes you wonder whether, once NowTV has flooded the country with boxes, they'll then stop these offers and bump the price of the passes up. It also makes you wonder whether anyone actually pays full price for a pass. The other thing that occurs to me is that thousands of boxes are being produced that people are presumably throwing in the back of the cupboard - not exactly environmentally friendly. Good deal though.

To answer the Credit Card question, maybe not before but now you HAVE to put in card details to activate a NowTV account, and can't use the box even for the free stuff without an account. I have the older version of this and I find it as slow as anything
Is this a bit more swift
Opening post

Raspberry pi zero, wifi adapter, 8gb sd card and mini hdmi adapter + XBMC. £11.
In other news you can get food, drink, petrol for free if you take it and don't pay at the counter.

Even if you have a voucher that seems to of expired or is not working then it is still easy to get a replacement valid one via NowTV customer services live chat. They will verify your voucher code and issue you a working one. It's documented on various nowtv threads

Maybe a little gratitude or a small apology required...or maybe just please get facts right NEXT TIME!
My backwards comments relates to Currys only letting you essentially save £10 by spending £200+. Such a silly move by Currys and any customer who falls for it on that basis!
Remember that ultimately this is a Sky product, so they don't like the idea of you subscribing to another Movie/TV product.
Even the side-load method on the original box failed to get Netflix working.

Faster hardware so apps run smoother (BBC iPlayer is usable again)
5ghz wifi
Ethernet port
1080p output
Usb and micro SD card slot (Usb media player can be side loaded onto the box to allow playback of mp4 video files etc)
The phono jack socket has been removed so no audio out this way anymore.

best Wishes
Ps.
If anyone knows of a 'workaround' to that method too?, I'd be really keen to be made aware of this too please?. :-)
Take care.
Virgin. etc
No thanks! Been there done that, never again.
Try and think back to the cute little ad with the persecuter telly. Keep tv free. This isn't even free is it, you are stll having to give them money to tap into their wares.
As has been mentioned I've got Android, TVMC on windows, doing stuff like this. Why do I want to consign future plastic to landfill, for what reason exactly ?? Big cold from me.
So you were able to buy a Google Chromecast Audio for ONLY £14 each?, WOW!!, nice one. :-)
Ps.
There's always a cheaper way of doing ..... but depends on how far your prepared to go I guess?, lol.
You then need an iptv server person to supply you with the code to watch everything sky offer
Dunno how expensive it is though, but I doubt less than £100 a year
Obviously I did not register pockit card with real details
Flash sale on until Monday. Most Argos branches selling the Chromecast Audio @ £15 are now out of stock so this beats it.
And I've found this one too:

Its what we call irony I guess?, hahahaha.
Thanx anyway. :-)
:-)
they said that offer was only valid if you buy a TV as well :o
ah well - just walked out !
EliTom
You would have to set up the NowTV account with one of the vouchers, then 30 days or less before it runs our use the second voucher.
Scanned at £14.99, so I asked about the 'Customer Offer'. They said it was only when you buy a TV, but agreed to put he offer through anyway, so 1 box for £10 - Happy Days
Always worth asking, and asking NICELY ...
To answer the Credit Card question, maybe not before but now you HAVE to put in card details to activate a NowTV account, and can't use the box even for the free stuff without an account. I don't think you can even remove a card without deactivating the account. So nice and secure (not) ... and tying you in.
I'm like soooooooooooooooooooo GLAD to hear that its still on!, hehehehe, thanx. :-)
Here's hoping for future 'GENERIC' £10 NOW TV 'Version 2' Boxes all round?, hehehe. :-)
Anyone spotted this deal anywhere in Scotland?
Reckon these will be a tenner each sooner rather than later.
These can be had everywhere for £15, so much so that threads on here go cold @ 15.
There must be a lot of stock out there, I reckon the supermarkets will be selling these for a tenner by Easter.
Here's hoping ..... hehehehehe. :-)
