I personally think they drop the ball with the price should be 150 with discount so 170 without at 170 I would pay the extra 40 for the honor 7. Better processor, camera , more ram, probably better battery ir blaster to name a few. at 170 this is basically a better su6 and since the su6 is around 100 for 70 for better build, fingerprint sensor and dual sim I don't think its worth the extra. Personally I don't like the su6 but at 170 its quite expensive compared to competition. But yeah the p8 deal stealing all thunder today bargain price

Have been using one for the last week and have been really impressed with it. The main cons for me is software related; no app drawer, and there's a couple of slight glitches. Saying that, my personal phone is a Note 4, and I've enjoyed using the Honor 5X, whereas the note can be very frustrating at times.
It shouldn't need saying, but it probably isn't the phone for Nexus fans. But you are used to Samsung, LG, etc, you'll get on with it.

From the link:
Three separate card slots for ultimate compatibility – nano-SIM, micro-SIM and microSD – while advanced automatic band-switching technology offers maximum signal strength
Any combination of 4G cards supported
No distinction between primary and secondary cards
Expandable storage space up to 128 GB with a microSD card
Dunno if this means they can both have 4G active at the same time or not.

I don't have one, but all reviews I've read say that the touchfinger sensors on all huawei phones have been great, easy to setup, very fast and reliable. All the other specs are very similar to my smart ultra 6, which I have been quite happy with. The others things that make it better than the smart ultra 6 are I guess a great feeling metal body and a louder speaker; both are big plus's and I would love a good touchfinger sensor on my next phone. I would be sorely tempted if I could afford one. Edit oh yeah and a second sim card slot, that might be useful.

"No distinction between primary and secondary cards"
So does this mean that I could make / receive a 3G call on one SIM while simultaneously using a 3G data connection on the other?
For those who don't know Dual Sim devices come in a few varieties. The earliest was that both SIMS were in the device but only one was active at a time. Meaning if one was active the other was not and could not connect to anything. It's more convenient than manually swapping cards.
The next has one slot with 2G/3G/(4G) and one slot with 2G only. Both can be active and used at the same time however as one is only 2G it's rather limited. If you want to change what SIM has 3G you need to change the cards around.
The next step up makes the above configuration switchable in the software. Either slot can be 2G/3G/(4G) but the other will become 2G when this happens. This is often disguised in the settings which don't make it obvious that the other SIM is being relegated to 2G only. All my dual sim phones have worked in this way and if the provider doesn't offer 2G access then that SIM / slot will be dead.

Huawei are making room for the Mate 8 Flagship killer and its an absolute beast of a phone the metal body design is pure phone porn , super fast. if you are ok with no app drawer and Apple clone UI. I am waiting for that to drop down in price and snap up a dual sim version overseas or flash it with the dual sim Rom.
I can see Huawei dropping prices to reposition themselves in the upper tier of manufacturers and away from the Chinese tag (3rd largest smartphone manufacturer). To do this they will sacrifice margins in the short term to build brand loyalty.... greart news for the consumer. snap up these bargains as China is dumping its excess inventories on exports...happy days

Out of the 3 which better, in terms of handling the latest apps and youtube vids etc. I know one has a bigger screen.
So many numbers in the specs, half of which mean nothing to me.
If they said, one plays videos 5x faster or better than the other, that would make sense.

Get what you mean on specs and it's tough to way up pros and cons.
The honor 7 and p8 are higher end phones, but they are older. The 5x is supposed to be mid range. So from a performance perspective, the honor 7 and p8 would be better, though not by huge amounts.
Things like dual sim AND sd support is a good plus for the 5x.
Id imagine all would last 2 years.
One thing I'd say is as honor is the small offshoot of Huawei, they are better at software updates for the brand.
This is probably down to having minimal devices which are less region specific, meaning quicker Dev and testing.
It really comes down to what's important, just like anything else.
Do you need 2 sims, is the size important, would a better camera be higher up your list?
Always a tough choice. Personally, I'd go this or the honor 7 depending on your budget.

What speed it the CPU doesn't say on their website
titan131 to elrasho
5 Feb 162#52
It runs a snapdragon 615 octa-core, 4 cores run at 1.5ghz and 4 lower power cores run at 1.2ghz. According to gsmarena those are the ghz the cores run at. The single thread performance isn't very good, for example the snapdragon 801 is much faster and comes with much more powerful graphics. I've read that the 615 is more akin to the snapdragon 410 (moto g) than a flagship cpu/gpu. The 615 is designed to run full HD screens unlike the 410 that can only run hd screens. That's more to do with the graphics power than the cpu. Yes the 615 is an octa-core and the 410 is only a quad-core but the 615 can only run 4 cores at a time, either the faster 4 or the slower 4 to save power. I don't think the 615 is bad but it is a budget processor.

My understanding was that it's a dual sim with another slot for micro SD. I think that they are selling 3 slots as a feature because some phones are using a hybrid design ie you can use 2 sims but can't use a micro sd or use 1 sim and then you can use a micro SD.

hey guys. I have a HTC M7 that was my first and only android phone. I came from iPhone and loved android instantly. I know it's an old phone now but just wondering how these Chinese phone would compare to it in regards to performance?. titan131 to dannyaus38
7 Feb 16#102
I think the m7 is more powerful, but this should be fine for light use.I recently overloaded my smart ultra 6 with too many apps running in the background, using resources, which made the phone sluggish. Btw the smart ultra 6 has basically the same specs as the huawei 5x i.e. same amount of ram, cpu/gpu, screen resolution. Right now I have these apps running in the background all of the time: netguard, calls blacklist, perfect applock, lastpass, here maps, weq4u, pocket, chrome plus some android system stuff. It performs well and I disabled the things I don't use ie google+, hangouts, maps, google app, email, gmail. So I think it depends how much stuff you are planning to run in the background. I don't know how light or efficient the huawei software is. The software on the smart ultra 6 is almost stock ie light weight. The huawei is probably fine just the way it comes for light use but don't expect the performance to be good if you later add a bunch of stuff that runs in the background. I used to have security software running in the background too but it made my phone too sluggish. Just my 2 cents.
