Di'anno was the 'first singer', but yes I only know Maiden in terms of Di'anno and then Dickinson, and plenty of people say on their best albums, their best songs. When I met him he was in to the whole bulsh^&ting thing about being a rockstar and knowing Axl Rose on first term names etc, he said yeah I was hanging out with Bruce Bailey, oh yeah lol you'd know him best as Axl Rose. I just don't get on with bullsh^&ters, because they're so obviously lying it's insulting my intelligence. Yes 1989 was quite some time after he'd left Maiden, I think around 1981. He's come across quite bitter in the past over it, but I guess you would seeing the commercial acclaim the band had after he left.

Think he was the third singer and that would have been nearly ten years after he left BTW.

What a rich and compelling anecdote. A+++ would read again, printed out to show the grandkids, buried in a time capsule for future generations.

I once met Paul Di'anno, the first singer of Iron Maiden in a pub called The Royal Standard in Walthamstow in 1989, what a prize dickh^&d he was! lol
