Computer music meets hi-fi sound. That’s what the DAC 2 Wireless USB Digital-to-Analogue Converter is all about. NADs super simple and fun solution lets you listen to any music stored on or streamed to your computer on your high performance NAD hi-fi system. Point-to-point wireless technology means you can just plug in the two-piece DAC 2 and start enjoying computer audio, including hi-res 24/96 music files without compression, with the least amount of fuss.
If you don't use wifi then fab, else it is trumped by the £14 Chromecast Audio; it is also fab because it has no App and spyware free.

Funnily enough. Mine failed after 5 years. Intermittent loss first for a few months then total.
Richer sounds in brum were a waste of space. Spoke to the head office customer services. They collected it, replaced the faulty board and sent it back all FOC despite it being 5 years and 10 months old.
Can't argue with that!

Plex can do it natively and takes less than 5 minutes to set up. If you are using the optical output sound quality will be identical since it bypasses the DAC.

Not a great deal of faffing about. CCA works great as part of a Squeezebox ecosystem. All you need is a plugin for the server.
You can use apps like localcast to play from any UPNP/DLNA server. Plus you can use Spotify and the likes for streaming.
SQ-wise, I can't tell the difference comparing to Sqeezebox receiver hooked up to CA DacMagic over optical. It's not outstanding, but certainly decent enough. And amazing value for money. I'm yet to try my 96/24 Pink Floyd records. That might be more revealing.
I doubt this NAD is audiophile-grade either. Plus proprietary networking standard is not something I'd like to be buying into. Not sure how much additional receivers cost. But if they are USB, only that's fairly limiting.
Another downside is USB audio. This is bound to have some limitations compared to toslink.
Voted hot, as it certainly is a good product for those who are unwilling to tinker with things like Squeezebox.

Or just buy a Chromecast audio;)

But that only plays whatever tab you have open in a browser, not local files unless faffing around with compatible players. Would be interested to know what the diff is audio quality wise, I shouldn't imagine a great deal when using optical out.

Cold, I've had one of these cheap Chinese audio senders before, they keep cutting out. Better hard wiring or spending a bit more on quality kit like Sony.

Decent price. I recently got in to audiophile hifi, bought a Chordette Chord Qute EX DAC, does the job but I'm already thinking get the Chordette Hugo, this audiophile game is addictive and a mugs game no doubt  Just be careful you don't get sucked in at this price, there could be no going back! hehe.

Can I use this as a foot stool for my Onkyo 607 AV Amp?

Knowing Onkyo's track record you would be much better using the receiver itself as a foot stool...would keep your feet nice and toasty.
The 607 was notorious for its HDMI board problem, have you had yours fixed or been lucky?

I will get rid of my Musical Fidelity amps now and get an integrated Sony. I have been skooled

DudleyGuy always says Sony in anything HI-Fi related lol.
I was thinking of posting deals on Linn, Arcam, Naim etc so with his knowledge he can tell us Sony is better than high end stuff.

lol, thanks. That's half an hour I'm not getting back.
Good deal and very good components. I got a Rega DAC not so long ago, if I hadn't I would go for this baby.

Does it work the same way as a audio chromacast?

The bats around my way are very fussy also and insist on FLAC 24 bit encodes but some are clamouring for 32 bit.
It’s all in the eye of the beholder I suppose or even the Noddy Holder!
Sounds like something from a Tarantino directed advert for Richer Sounds. I guess they didn’t severe a major artery unless you are a ghost?

Good value for money. Would be hoping for a bit more 32bit/192Khz
Do like NAD stuff though. NAD amps have severed me well over the years.
Hot from me for those who have a need.
And just read Burr Brown delta sigma DAC , Very very hot from me.
Thanks Neil. That's really useful. Odd that it isn't more apparent in the specifications, or even the data sheet.
I think 40m LoS blows it for me. I have about 6 walls to get through in the brick built 1930's house. So you saved me £100 and some pain. Most grateful!

It doesn't appear to be domestic wifi. I think it has it's own wireless communication system.
Does anyone know the range on this thing? My source and destination are several rooms and about 20m apart.
