That's £200 cheaper than Moto are selling it for and £150 cheaper than Tesco. This is hotter than a hot cross bun that has been dropped in a volcano. Cheers.

There is a simple solution for this.
Once upgraded to latest Marsmallow (Android 6.0) do this: Power down the phone
Once powered down
Press volume down and power button (at the same time) until you see android logo and full phone spec.
press volume down to select "Recovery Mode" then confirm by pressing power button
Motorola logo will show up, than android logo with text "no command"
now pres at the same time volume up and power button - if nothing happens try it again until you see "Android Recovery" with couple of options.
Press volume down 4x times to select "Wipe Data/Factory Reset"
confirm by pressing power button.
Press volume down twice to select "userdata+ personalized content"
confirm by power button.
Once done
Repeat procedure but this time select "Wipe Cache partition"
Power up your phone, set it up, run all of the updates from play store etc
New / reset android phones do some stuff in background for first couple of hours so it could be still laggy for a while.
After a while you can enjoy lag free super fast phone. - tested myself just now on Moto X Force from CPW.
Solution works on most of the android phones - not just this one.
Obviously... this will delete all of the personal data and settings and will leave yours phone in the "out of the box" condition.
.
One more thing that speed up android phones
Go to:Settings >About Phone
Scroll down
Click 5-7 times
Go back and you will see just activated "Developer Options"
Click on it and find: Window Animation Scale
Transition Animation Scale
Animation Duration Scale
Change all of them to "Animation off"
As you may thought this just turns off "nice" animations - while opening, closing app etc.
But speeds up opening time so the phone is much more responsive.

Couple of pics of the brotect applied to my moto x force. They really are very good. I popped out the cut-outs for the sensors, microphone and speakers (you can bend the glass to raise the edge and put a small blade under to pop them out.
I always fit mine in a cold kitchen, lay some sheets of kitchen paper on the table and then spray them with water/dettox to keep any dust in the area trapped, alcohol wipe the screen and wipe with dry screen cloth.
To align it I use the hinge method - two sticky tabs on the back of the phone that then flap over and stick to the screen protector when it is perfectly aligned.
fold the protector away from the screen a quick final clean and blast with air can (£1 in poundland  )
Peel the backing from the protector and then flip onto the screen - perfectly aligned and dust free (hopefully!)
Then remove the alignment tabs and push out the last few bubbles.
Perfect. Very satisfying

I tried for ages with both of these methods but couldn't get to the recovery menu. Finally discovered the key to it (on mine at least) is while holding the POWER button just give the VOL UP a single quick press.

If anybody is having problems like myself trying to get access to recovery this may help as well
When you see the dead android press and hold power key and vol up for about 3 seconds then let go of volume key but keep pressing power. Hopefully you will see recovery options

yeah some are friendly but the two shops in my town I shudder even just walking past them. This time I avoided them two and went to another not too far away and they where great but asking about the Force they didnt even know about them or even seen one in the flesh. The one I got was sealed and she didnt even know it was in stock. Strange though as maybe they arent getting told to push them or just no call for them hence the price drop just to get shut of some.

To be fair, the service was friendly and achieved what I needed (replacement phone, refund also offered). I went into the main store near me to be told the bad news - they had none in stock, but the good news, the near by PC World has a CPW inside and has 2 in stock. I shuddered at the thought of having to go to/deal with PC World, but thankfully again the CPW staff there were really good. I mentioned it's a common fault and there's a lot online covering it, but he wasn't too interested in that to be honest. The guy I spoke to said he'd only ever sold one Force as it's not a phone they even keep on display, and so he hadn't seen any others back there.

I've had mine for around 6 weeks now and I'm quite pleased with it. It's not going to be for everyone, it's chunky with a large bezel, no led, no fingerprint reader and isn't exactly a looker. But, coming from an lg g3 that looked nice, small bezel and high screen to size ratio, led notification, beautiful screen and excellent camera, I'd take this because it does exactly what it says on the tin. The g3, despite the positives mentioned, was just so unreliable, laggy and frustrating, which makes owning the x force a breath of fresh air. I'm not convinced the x force has a screen as nice as the g3 (although I never got to compare them side by side), or if the camera is any better (although it is better than the other half's z3 compact, which I'm very disappointed with), but it does feel better made, has much better battery life, moto have integrated some very nice touches (camera, torch gesture launch etc), the screen and camera are still very good, it doesn't lag, has wireless and turbo charging built in and, in short, it works. I'm quite happy with the lack of led, it's something else I don't need to turn on or off at night, and the lg had this really annoying battery full notification sound which was a nuisance to turn off. I would never say it's the best phone on the market, but it certainly feels like it's going to stand the test of time. Whether moto back that up by providing sufficient software support remains to be seen, I'd be very disappointed if it didn't get android N at some point. At £300 I think it's a steal (or was a steal), it may be a bit big for some but other's have also made big phone's with a similar sized screen (how does this compare in size with the z5 premium?). It's not beautiful, but it's certainly a beast.

13 Feb 16#396
Oh, its defiantly good to have different opinions. I hadn't noticed the yellowish screen, but doing a back to back with the other half's phone, yes, its there. But how often am I doing back to back checking? It won't bother me. The Screen to body ratio is fine for me, as is the weight. But then I like a phone with a bit of heft and I realise its not for everyone.
My last phone I broke dropping from around 2ft. So the shatterproof screen is a real must for me.
We will agree to disagree on stereo separation. I used to own a Hi-Fi shop and like to think it's one of the few things I actually know about. Or I've just been spoiled. Who knows. But if it sounds better to you, that is all that maters. I just can't listen to music on any phone speaker.
I still can't get over how simple and useful chop chop torch is.
Although I only used the Force for a week, that was enough for me to come to my conclusion.
I didn't comment on the software at all, so the Moto stuff can be useful but not significant enough for me to value it above what I consider to be hardware and design failings.
Personally I didn't like the notification system. I missed a notification LED. I currently use a Z3 and I can glance from a distance or when my hands are full and depending on the colour flashing I can tell what's come in. No LED flashing means I don't have to check my phone at all. On the Force, I often moved toward it to activate the screen only to find out there were no notifications anyway. This is a minor issue and YMMV.
I found the camera launching quite good (holding the dedicated camera button down on my Z3 is not much slower to be honest though), but what was important to me was the end result and I found the photos to be only average at best. I tried different apps, which helped but not by enough of a degree. The camera on the Force does not come close to the best ones out there. TBH it wasn't much better than the one on my old Note 3.
I'll give you the chop chop torch one, that's useful.
Battery is good, but not class leading. 18 month old Z3 still gets 5.5 hours screen on time and 48hr battery life (and is waterproof, but that's not being discussed here)
I genuinely found the screen dim, especially on adaptive mode. Outdoor visibility in bright sunshine was nothing special (certainly not up to Galaxy standards, and the yellowy screen didn't help with white contrast)
The mono speaker is acceptably loud at full volume, but that level brought some distortion. I disagree about the stereo separation point you made, although the effect is slight I still think it is effective. At the very least it offers a bit more clarity (to my ears at least).
On the screen strength, that (as I said) is undoubtedly it's USP, however it's disappointing that the top surface is so prone to scratches and scuffs. I'm not concerned about choosing to use a tempered glass protector on my phones, but on the Force it seems necessary.
I also agree that there's no perfect phone atm, my Z3 for example is a fragile and slippery glass-backed device and the web is littered with stories of cracking. I use mine with a discreet lanyard, which has helped ensure I don't drop it (it's also handy to get the phone out of a pocket). I tried the Force because the appeal of a shatterproof screen and a promised jump in specs across the board seemed to make sense. It didn't pan out for me however for the reasons mentioned.
What about the screen size to body ratio I mentioned? It's almost as big as a 5.7" Note 4. What about the yellowy cast on the screen, you didn't mention that either.
Finally, I thought the very deep speaker grills on the front will harbour pocket-grunge and the gap around the edge would do the same too.
I enjoy an open forum where people can share experiences, opinions and thoughts. We may not agree on this device, but we might agree on the next.
My comments might polarize, but could be useful to others

Although this deal is a good reduction from the original price,I would avoid it or return it for the following reasons;
The handset is almost Galaxy Note sized, but with a smaller screen.
The camera is only average at best
The screen tint is yellow
It has an underpowered mono speaker
The screen scratches too easily so needs a protector
The screen is fairly dim
There's a potential green line fault
It's heavy
Don't be tempted by the price reduction, judge it in its own right.
I think its a bit of a duffer, and I expect the price to nosedive.
IMO the only USP's are the shatterproof screen and the battery.
I don't think the battery life is best in class, so it really just comes down to how likely you think you are to drop it hard enough or from high enough to crack a conventional screen.

I'm just wondering if you have actually used the XForce on a day to day basis? There is so much great about it. The always listening software, the way it delivers notifications, it knows when I'm driving and will read out text and let me dictate a reply. I don't have to tell it I'm driving. it just knows. Launching the camera with a flick of the wrist. I haven't found anyone who can take a photo faster from a closed state. Chop to turn on the torch is more useful than I ever though it would be. This is all on a phone that is as close to stock Android as you can get while not being a Nexus. As such, its fast. A big battery that with Doze in Marshmallow is great.
The screen is dim? This app hurts my eys unless I turn down the brightness.
Underpowered mono speaker? Imho no phone speaker is good enough to listen to music with. And you can't get stereo imaging from speakers that close together.
Would I rather have a screen with a protector that I can't break as compared to a screen without a protector that could shatter the first time I drop it? I fail to see how this could be seen as a downside.
The green line, I will cross that bridge if it comes to it. But all phones have 1000's of potential faults. Tell me what phone you use and I will show you a bunch of users with problems. So by your reasoning you can never buy a phone.
Yes, the RRP was too high. But at £300 It's a steal

That thatThat may be a valid point for some, but benchmarks aren't the be all and ends all IMO. I think performance plateaued about a year ago.

Assuming mine does not 'go green' it is a keeper - came from a 6 inch huawei ascend mate 7 and that had begun to cloud on the whites.
That was a phablet really and although it was nice and slim, I actually like the chunky feel of the X Force in comparison.

Hard to say.... After having marshmallow for a few weeks on my x play I can see it feels like a polished lollipop more than anything.
As to sd storage.... I may have been wrong. I've chosen to keep the sd as external. Some apps still have a move to sd option. My guess is its still the non supported option it always was by developers.
So some apps may move, but more than likely not. Having internal does allow for all apps to be stored. But this does mean it's encrypted and cannot be used outside of the phone. Also, if it fails, it sounds like it'd **** your phone.
I'd look into can the sd be backed up of set as internal. If the answer is no the I'd be concerned.

For the future reference - I was wondering what is going to happen to those price matches that where sent through email in response to "if you haven't purchased it yet" - they said in the email that I would have 28 days to purchase it from them - what is going to happen in a case like this that the product disappears from the site?

I think getting onto some of the bigger forums where many are reporting the same problems might be a good idea. The more noise that gets made, the better... Motorola need to admit a design fault or whatever. It's not fit for purpose, one doesn't fork out for their top of the range phone, then if it develops a green line be told that it is what it is, phone is usable etc. Wrong!
How am I going to explain this one to the wife later ... "Well, you may or may not get a green line across your screen at some point..." .. if it does happen, I want it to happen within the first 10 days.

I've not had much time to play with them, but so far, I've a tag to switch to vibrate, each time touched it changes to normal or vibrate. So that one is next to my PC, if I start any conference calls I just touch it to that, when done, touch again. Also set one for my kid, she's stuck it somewhere at work, so when she arrives she touches it, goes to silent. And will work with any NFC phone, not just the one. I believe you can do a lot more on them, I tested creating and setting an alarm, which works, but it would only activate the 1st, and at the same time create a new one each time. I'll try the weekend I guess with various apps like Tasker etc. All new to me too. Probably will land up just using the one always as the fade passes.

This has happened to a few devices. Will be keeping a close eye on mine - hopefully it will happen in the first 30 days if it is going to
I would. It is only a week or so old, yes? I would not accept a repair - if they say no to a new one then tell them you want a full refund.
New consumer rights law came in on 1st Oct 2015 - you have the right to a full refund for up to 30 days from the point of sale.
Tell CPW you are exercising your rights under the 2015 consumer rights act to a full refund for faulty goods within 30days and write them a letter if required.
They can't refuse within the first 30 days, it is now law.

Talking best techniques for applying the screen protector.....
Do you reckon if I line up the glass protector using the tape/hinge method, then whip off the printed factory film and put the glass straight down that would work?
In other words is the screen as clean as it's never going to get while the printed film is still in place?
bisto to 70s_kid
10 Feb 161#320
Mine was very clean under the printed moto film, so it would probably work well.
The static cling from the factory film would lift dust away too, but being a bit weird about these things I would probably wipe the factory protector with a damp screen wipe and then the back of the hinged glass protector too.
Some of my other phones have actually been quite dirty under the film (Huawei & Oppo), but the moto looked quite good

brotect glass protector that RFC1795 and myself fitted is about the best you will get I think - very good quality glass protector and has the flexibility to bond with the X force screen. Most plastic protectors should be ok, but there do seem to be a few that have issues too.
Manufactures sometimes design in a shallower port to allow for better compatibility with cases and docks - seems sensible to me.
USB ends that touch the outer shoulders to the case always make me wonder if they have actually seated correctly and they often will not allow all cases to accept a charging cable.
From what I gather that would be the only difference between the two?
Thanks

Right, wireless chargers. Here's what I ordered, and experience using the same charger rated at 2A:
Anker I know the brand already, and is well known to be good in the charger area and seems to be very popular (£10 delivered) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B010SS8424
Does not charge my phone at all due to my cover thickness. It's a lot smaller than the next I'll mention so you have to get your aim right when putting it down. Charges the wifes phone (same model) fine with no cover on. The supplied cable is also slightly shorter, by about close on 6" or 15cm for us metric folk (5/10 for me)
CHOETECH Can't say I've heard of this brand before, but seems to be more popular based on review numbers. (£9.99 delivered) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00C40OG22 Charges my phone with the cover on fine. No issues, also the wifes without issues. I do like that the base has a bigger footprint, so no having to guess if I'm putting it down in the right area. Longer cable than the Anker (10/10)
Can't say which charges better between the two... my money would be on the CHOETECH

You have some pretty clever ideas and tips there! Wish I'd have that info before I put it on. I've got loads of transfer film sheets, used to transfer vinyl cut-outs to surfaces to be applied on. I think it would be 10x easier doing it that way similar to what you mentioned.
Think I'm going to leave it as is for now, hope it gets scratched so I can buy a replacement.. then will try it that way with the film along with other tips mentioned :smirk:
bisto
10 Feb 161#295
Thought that might be the case - didn't want to risk fishing one out from under the protector, so played it safe.
I have tried it in the bathroom before too - I was told to run a hot shower to create a steamy environment to keep the dust down.
Madness just for a screen protector, I know - but I do like a clean screen
If you still have bits under the protector I have had success in removing them using a couple of bits of sticky tape (or a proper dust removal sticker)
One bit of tape applied to the top of the screen that extends well over the edge and provides a good purchase on the screen.
pull a bit of tension onto this tape and then lift the protector in the area where the dust/fibre is and then with the second bit of tape dab the dust from the screen or, more likely, the back of the protector and drop it back on again.
Managed to get one almost perfect that looked ruined before.
RFC1795
10 Feb 161#294
Great tips, will keep those in mind for next time. Clever spraying water to keep the dust down.. like that :-) .. sounds like you've done this more than once before.
Wife put hers on slightly skew hehe .. but she has no dust under hers at least. Even did it in the bathroom like they recommended, on the toilet seat with a non-slip mat to keep it still. Recon I'd do a better job 2nd time round.
It is a brilliant protector, very chuffed with the purchase. If this phone doesn't get lost or stolen, I think it's going to last me a good 4 years and should look in mint condition too still.
Edit: BTW, my cutouts and the wifes just pulled back and stayed on the film when you remove it No need to try pick them out before hand.

Right, feedback on http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B018SKUWPQ
As someone who's never fitted a screen protector before, I found it confusing, not having the most steady hands doesn't help things lol ... but, this screen is great! Really really good.. it kind of just bonds itself to the screen, air sort of flows out while it goes, like its hugging the screen. It is glass thats for sure.. I tested with the small bit it comes with, very flexible, and will break if folded. It looks like its part of the phone. No edges are lifted where people report others have.
I think this is the one to get.
Things that confused me: It comes with a thin clear plastic which you pull off, I thought that was it, then it would stick to phone... no, it didn't.. there is actually another film on the harder side, the glass that needs to peel off, then the harder side, the glass is what you then lay on the screen.. trying to keep all dust clear. That was the hardest part! There was a spec of dust while laying, so I slightly raised it thinking I'll get it off with an earbud and continue. Big mistake! I touched the earbud to the sticky side of the glass resulting in it grabbing the fibers on earbud.. so, I have a cover that has fibers under it now  ... but it will do as is, can't see them really.
10/10 would buy again!

If you watch the drop tests they suggest this screen is more susceptible to dents and dings than the usual gorilla glass offerings. This screen won't shatter but it will sustain impact damage. My thinking was that putting a hard glass layer over the top would protect it better than a film? Who knows?
£2.99, looks to have the correct cut outs for the sensors etc and does reference the curvature of the phone. Just to clarify though, you CAN still usebit as portable storage AND move Apps to the SD card.
All it means is that the Android OS treats it as a separate storage volume rather than creating a single 'virtual' volume.
My recommendation: format it as portable storage and manually move apps that you are happy to keep on the SD card using the Apps menu in settings.

The idea of using a micro-SD for applications and application data is a good thing. It's been possible for awhile. You could set the external storage device for applications automatically with some ROM's or manually in most cases. While not solving the problem when it fails or is removed, the applications installed on it just won't function. Not phone breaking though.
Android 6.0 as posted above does this differently. System files are put on it as well as other things.
I haven't tested the feature myself so I'm only commenting on what I read above.
RFC1795

Yes it will mess up ur phone:
"Once a storage device is adopted, it becomes part of the system and is no longer removable. Sure you can physically remove it, but you'll be prompted to put it back while apps and services crash on your phone or tablet. It's adopted — taken in and loved by the system, and made part of the whole. If you try to remove it, things go haywire"
Yeah, recommend using it as portable storage only.
You can still move apps to the SD card if needed so don't bother using the internal/adopted storage functionality.
Also means that if you need to swap the phone for any reason, you can get up and running a lot quicker.
rev6
8 Feb 16#229
Not exactly. The micro-SD card will be used for applications/data, not the OS. If you take it out, many of the applications you have won't start but the phone should still function. I'm sure there are fail safes in the OS for such things.

On the internal storage front, I heard that when you set the micro SD up to use for internal storage, it is exactly that - if u take it out, it will mess up ur phone. Think of it like taking out ur internal storage in ur phone!
RFC1795 to deanoh11
8 Feb 16#228
Ah, that's a very good point you raised! Didn't think of that and would make sense ... so basically you'd need to leave it in forever and hope the card stays good. Won't be as fast as the internal eMMC ram also, so there's that to consider.
I've seen one YouTube repeated drop test from 50ft plus where although the screen doesn't shatter, the phone won't power on. Just make sure any bars/pubs you go to are only have a ground floor and you should be good!

Hehe... very serious. I took it out the box when it arrived and threw it on the office floor. The wifes face! Her: "Wt F? .. why did you to that?!?" ... "Cause I can lol" .. I proceeded to then bash it against a metal cabinet  ... now with the cover on, I got more brave demo'ing it to the kids now they're home. Figure if it's gonna break, nows the best time to performance test it. I'm confident this is a phone to last... and no, I don't think I'll be doing such demos anytime soon again.. unless the beer flows with friends perhaps, but I know that will result in an ultimate test and destroy moment. :stuck_out_tongue:

Have been very tempted by the Moto Force X, but I have seen a number of reviews about that screen "cover" getting little Knicks, etc. I know its replaceable but I think what you gain in having a hardcore shatterproof phone you lose a lot in having this issue.

Hi bal3055
I have just got this after using the Oneplus 2 for a few months
I really did like the oneplus 2 and preferred it to the Oneplus one in every respect
the big let down for me was the battery life
im a power user so even the oneplus one battery life was poor - with the oneplus 2 i found the battery to be largely the same and i would end up charging my phone 3 times a day
If you do not use much battery then the phone is perfect - it has dual sim and the fingerprint scanner is very good
performance wise there probably isnt much difference between op2 and the moto force x
the moto has a better screen but i did like the op2 screen and thought colours were much better than the oneplus one
moto also has nfc and ir blaster
cameras on both seem good but moto is very fast in taking pictures
havent really tried shooting video
also moto has expandable storage which can be used as internal storage
although OP2 has 64gb which may be enough for some
hope this helps

8 Feb 16#215
Oneplus 2 does not have a card slot?
RFC1795 to ism
8 Feb 16#219
Got my interest there... so went to dig up more info on the 'IR blaster' .. from what I've found, the Force doesn't actually have it.. it has receivers only, for the hand gesture feature.
One thing noticed, the sim tray has place for 2 sims, does that mean it actually supports 2 sims, or is this UK ver disabled?
Other thing, some site mentioned if you add SD storage, it becomes part of the internal storage rather than treated as separate. Nice if it works well :-)
bal3055
8 Feb 16#216
Hi Ism - thanks for your opinion, very useful. I'm not a power user and like the look of the OP2 but think the Moto X Force might have a bit more longjevity so may go for that if I can be bothered to go through the OP2 returns process!

Fingerpring sensors are a useless gimmick. A friend of mine used it on her iPhone. She would stand there pressing her thumb on the button for ages trying to get it to work, and half of the time she resorted to using the passcode to open the phone. Me - I just put in the 4 digit pin and the phone opens.
This one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B018SKUWPQ ... claims to be flexible. Cover wise, I like the ones with a stand built in, have used such types over the years. But, it will make your phone bulky of course. I want it for that feature more than the protection aspect of it. Went for this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0166B15NC

IMHO it's a combination of the launch price being too expensive, the device not being very sexy (chunky and bland compared to other flagships) and it just wasn't marketed very strongly here.
There may have been a stock issue too. I spoke to the asst. manager of a CPW yesterday and he said that even though they showed lots of stock on the system, there never seemed to be any in his store.
Customers showing interest were told there was no stock and were invariably sold an alternative instead.

Being an AMOLED display, you could use the screen as a notification LED.
I'm not an audiophile, but there's a big notable difference between playing a track on the front facing stereo speakers on the Z3 for example, compared to my X Play. If I'd not been spoilt with the Z3 between the Nexus 4 and the X Play though I agree, it's a big improvement on a rear speaker only. I've picked up a stereo Bluetooth speaker since and tend to just connect to that more or be wearing headphones anyway if I'm travelling and watching a movie.

7 Feb 16#170
True but I always had a problem with notification LED - sometimes flashed, sometimes not.
Mono front facing speaker - this is not issue at all, still hundred times better than back speaker.
To actually hear stereo speakers need to be at least 1m aside - which is impossible to achieve in smartphone.

I picked up a couple of tempered glass screen protectors for this, sounds a bit odd for a phone with such bold claims about its screen, but the top layer is plastic and does mark more easily than 'normal' phone screens.

Had one of these, it;s not a bad phone but its not nearly worth the rrp they originally wanted. Design is horrible, like considering the moto x 2014 and moto x style are such good looking phones this makes no sense. On the plus side battery life is awesome, screen is nice and its obviously got that shatterproof screen. Word to the wise though, if you buy it then buy a screen protector as it scratches really really easily (The top layer can be replaced but motorola will rush you 20 odd quid for a new one, better off buying a 5 quid screen protector to save you from scratches)

5 Feb 16#109
Yes, it's surprisingly laggy in normal operation compared to phones with lesser specs. I had the same issue with the Moto X-Play too. It's down to the dodgy Octa-Core Snapdragon 810 and 615 processors used in those handsets, which throttle the processor speed in order to keep operating temperatures down. The lag that I found on the X-Force and X-Play wasn't an issue on the X-Style or the Moto G 3rd (at least the 2GB RAM version).
Hopefully the 2016 Snapdragon processors will work to their full potential without over-heating or over-throttling.

The only video where someone managed to destroy the screen was when they punctured it with something thin and sharp and have then punctured the battery so the phone more or less blow up. (a very educational video to see...)
I have seen it dropped from 10th floor and the screen was intact, (the rest of the phone not so much) but they sort of fixed it (I wouldn't call it a fix but more collected the bits in a cohesive structure) which actually worked. All in all under NORMAL use there is no way you can destroy it.

No screen is indestructible, and to think otherwise is just daft. Hit any screen hard enough and it will break.

You can break the inner lcd. However the outside glass wont break like other phones, it'll dent as if it was metal. There is also a video on youtube where the phone is dropped from 275m and the glass only breaks from the corner. Other than that it was totally fine!

Cheers original poster, I snapped this up.
The X Force on display in the Currys Carphone Warehouse in Lakeside retail park, Essex is battered and I almost didn't buy mine. The bezel around the screen had dents in it, there was a chunk of metal missing from the bottom and the whole phone was covered in scratches.
I asked the salesman about the state of the phone, and he said it had been tested by chucking it down different flights of stairs and was even lobbed off the first floor balcony on to the ground floor and the screen worked fine.
When I got home, my phone was in a perfect state of repair, with no scratches or dents.
The best part was when I told my wife I got a new phone and threw it on the floor in front of her. The look on her face as she thought it would break...........

If yer willing to wait a few weeks for delivery, you can get far better-specced phones for cheaper from the Chinese sites (respectable brands as well like Elephone). Elephone uses close to stock android so no bloatware. I have the P6000 which still works perfectly.
Had been waiting for price to drop to £450 or so on Amazon before buying. This is a huge price drop. I'm hoping for good things from this phone.

4 Feb 161#56
It is also rather new and pretty expensive up to now, it might get more support as it gets cheaper.
I simply think people to whom this phone appeals aren't happy with shelling out 500£ for it, regardless of how good it is so basically it doesn't sell. I believe this also explains this price cut, cpw were the first ones to have it in UK and marketed it a lot so I presume they have loads of stock that simply didn't sell. (I mean who would buy from cpw when you can buy from Amazon or JL for the same price...)

I don't get poor battery life from the style, its not the best but I wouldn't say it was poor. The 25w turbocharger definitely helps with a quick top up though. I think the force is the new flagship, it has the snapdragon 810 along with the same cameras and ram and a smaller yet higher pixel dense screen.

Possibly due to poor battery life on the Style compared to this.

Great price I just bought the moto x style yesterday for £325. I could return it but I don't regret it even after seen this deal. I like the larger screen and the super slim bezils. The bezils on the moto x force are pretty large compared to the style and I hear from some reviews that because of the shatterproof screen they can see a small gap between the screen and the glass. That would annoy me too much over time. The only thing I wish the style had is that large battery but overall I still prefer the style. Heat added though for the price.

I don't really have the exact figure for my SOT but I would guess about 3 hours from 100% charge. I do use the phone for gaming, browsing and chatting. By around 4-5pm I would be down to less than 20%.
The turbocharger is great but it's inconvenient to really carry it everywhere I go. I have a portable battery but obviously the phones takes a really long time to charge this way.
I came from a Sony Xperia Z3 and still had 40-50% by the end of the day with the same usage. This phone was a beast when it came to battery life but the design IMO is looking really dated now that's why I opted for Motorola.

Good review HERE. They do give it 4/5 at RRP, with this reduction in price, I would imagine that may change somewhat, considering one of the negative points in the review was the price!
But just a quick bit about the battery from those that have questioned it.....
With general use, a couple of hours streaming podcasts, about 40 mins of solid browsing and around 10,000 quick visits to WhatsApp, the phone still had 35 per cent left at 10:30pm. You’ll only get Motorola’s claimed “two day” stamina if you don’t use your phone for anything taxing. But that’s always the case with these bold claims.
Playing back a 720p movie on loop and doing nothing else, the Motorola Moto X Force hit the bullseye too, lasting for around 15 hours 30 minutes. It’s up there with the Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ as an Android stamina trooper.
This is down to the epic 3760mAh battery, which is even larger than the Moto X Play’s.
Charging speed is incredibly quick too. The Motorola Moto X Force uses one of the latest variable voltage chargers, able to get you from zero percent to 80-90 per cent in around an hour. That’s dead quick for such a massive unit.

Once upgraded to latest Marsmallow (Android 6.0) do this:
Power down the phone
Click on it and find:
Window Animation Scale
Transition Animation Scale
Animation Duration Scale
Change all of them to "Animation off"
As you may thought this just turns off "nice" animations - while opening, closing app etc.
But speeds up opening time so the phone is much more responsive.

I've just had my faulty 'green line' version replaced for a new Moto X Force in store. Shrink wrapped box this time too (left on by store). Let's see if this is so quick to fail!
Did you purchase in store or online? Mine was online, so not sure if they'll be weird about this.
Disappointed that the girl in the shop took the shrinkwrap off though. That's what I was looking forward to most :disappointed:
I thought it was a pull in the fabric to start with but not sure now.
Here, here and here
I didn't comment on the software at all, so the Moto stuff can be useful but not significant enough for me to value it above what I consider to be hardware and design failings.
I'd rather have an amazing bright screen, high screen to body ratio and an awesome camera than something that opens Angry Birds a millisecond quicker than everything else
That was a phablet really and although it was nice and slim, I actually like the chunky feel of the X Force in comparison.
My 30 day window for full refund finishes on the 5th March, anyone going to take a bet on the 6th March for my green line
Is it easy?
Any good tutorials on how to do it?
For the future reference - I was wondering what is going to happen to those price matches that where sent through email in response to "if you haven't purchased it yet" - they said in the email that I would have 28 days to purchase it from them - what is going to happen in a case like this that the product disappears from the site?
Anybody knows (had similiar experience)?
http://www.protectionfilms24.com/article/brotect-airglass-premium-glass-screen-protector-motorola-moto-x-ce-2714418.html
Not sure whether I'll be any better off but thought it worth a try.
I think the two-pack one is films not glass.
Needs to be flexible glass apparently so that the corners don't lift, sounds like cheapest eBay ones are too rigid.
Haven't got my phone or protector yet so time will tell!
Anybody from JL has the same problem?
So far I haven't had a problem (bought in JL) but my phone just laying down since purchase so not sure if I would not "trigger" the problem when I start using it/carying around (still waiting for the screen protector )
My details same as above. clutching at straws I found as do others the usb charger to be a very tight fit, I am wondering if it has anything to do with it, as in wiggling it about to get it in as apparently those with the green line if you press the bottom of the screen it goes. Probably hasnt got anything to do with it and just another design issue.
When I bought mine in the shop I was told the 14 days returns applies as well as buying it on line.
How am I going to explain this one to the wife later ... "Well, you may or may not get a green line across your screen at some point..." .. if it does happen, I want it to happen within the first 10 days.

Gonna happen now, I can feel it in my bones - we are all doomed I tell ya!
Just kidding **crosses all fingers and toes** the rest will all be perfectly fine
One thing I did notice when I received the phone on Monday was that the seal was already broken... anyone else have the same? The phone appeared ok upon inspection though so although I was a little concerned, it didn't look to be a real problem and I was happy with it as it was... in hindsight, I should have probably queried it then!
I have my positive head on today, but I can feel that I will be trembling each time I approach the phone soon enough
Within the first 30 days it is well worth pushing for a new one, if they refuse I would just ask to get the refund you are entitled to.
I would then be quite smug and say that I have just come into some money and feel like treating myself to a new phone - could you order me a moto x force please
Also, I am sure your wife will be pleased to have someone to speak with this evening
This looks like to be quite a serious common problem then. I'm thinking its related to the screen contacts somehow, some people saying it comes and goes, some if squeezing the screen. Wonder if its batch related somehow, seems pretty random too, after a week of use, 3 weeks.. but does seem to happen not long after owning. Fingers crossed it doesnt!
If you reserve and then pay in-store the 14 day distance selling regs do not apply (I think) - but you do have the 2015 30 day full refund policy to fall back on.
See my posts above.
Consumer rights - money saving expert
Consumer rights - BBC
New consumer rights law came in on 1st Oct 2015 - you have the right to a full refund for up to 30 days from the point of sale.
Tell CPW you are exercising your rights under the 2015 consumer rights act to a full refund for faulty goods within 30days and write them a letter if required.
They can't refuse within the first 30 days, it is now law.
"This phone continues to amaze me, things I never had before and couldn't do on old phone, I now can with this... still playing about with NFC tags."
Thanks again
I've installed this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.samples.apps.cardboarddemo&hl=en
And the Cardboard Camera https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.vr.cyclops to make own virtual vids. Also a bunch of other apps in readiness.
Also, have a look through youtube for 'google cardboard' .. should give you a general idea of what it can do.
Very pleased, especially now the damn screen protector is staying put
Will report back once I've test driven them. This phone continues to amaze me, things I never had before and couldn't do on old phone, I now can with this... still playing about with NFC tags. Fun!
I'm ordering the German ones now :sunglasses:
Might get the Oneplus 2 now or wait for significant Nexus 6P price drop.
Any advice?
Do you reckon if I line up the glass protector using the tape/hinge method, then whip off the printed factory film and put the glass straight down that would work?
In other words is the screen as clean as it's never going to get while the printed film is still in place?
The static cling from the factory film would lift dust away too, but being a bit weird about these things I would probably wipe the factory protector with a damp screen wipe and then the back of the hinged glass protector too.
Some of my other phones have actually been quite dirty under the film (Huawei & Oppo), but the moto looked quite good
Manufactures sometimes design in a shallower port to allow for better compatibility with cases and docks - seems sensible to me.
USB ends that touch the outer shoulders to the case always make me wonder if they have actually seated correctly and they often will not allow all cases to accept a charging cable.
protectionfilms24.com/article/2x-brotect-matte-screen-protector-motorola-moto-x-ce-1914418.html
From what I gather that would be the only difference between the two?
Thanks
Just checked the wifes one.I would say it has under 1mm gap.. 0.7mm I'd say.. so it is pretty close to what you have there in the image.
Do you know if the other one (see below) would have better "visibility"/clarity ?
I think I would prefer better clarity over the "anti-break" screen protector (since that's built in)
Ha, less karate chopping, more shaking please. At least you don't have to worry too much about dropping it whilst trying!
The ones you've linked don't really cover the screen fully. Look at the cut-outs they show there.
As for loose buttons, can't say I noticed any really... I shook it now and the flash turned on and off :-D
amazon.co.uk/dp/product/B017C8POJE
amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B017C9QTHY
The plastic one is not the best I have seen, but the later version does seem to prevent the lifting issue mentioned in the comments. Hopefully they would supply the later version?
I would get the glass one I linked to above if I were you.
Much prefer the colours on the X Style!
The Moto X Play had a loose volume rocker button - you could hear it if you shake the phone, and more feel it through use. The Moto X Force seems to suffer the same with its power button - do others have this?
Think I'm going to leave it as is for now, hope it gets scratched so I can buy a replacement.. then will try it that way with the film along with other tips mentioned :smirk:
BROTECT flexible screen protectors are excellent - perfect fit, bubble free and nice and clear.
No lifting issues, they really are flexible - amazing. Very pleased.
Got to be the only glass protector that should be recommended for the X Force.
Will get some pictures up in a minute.
Might just be that store (error), or maybe deal has ended in stores (?)
But, looks like deal still available online. If you do order it online now I would strongly recommend getting screenshots of sale, etc, might well save you hassle.
There's a chance it's the same with the Force. Depending on who provides the displays. Samsung OLED displays have been blue tinged in the past for me.
(most recent 1 star review)
Mine ended up the same. Wasn't sure if i just screwed up applying it at first, and then saw that (or maybe theres a trick to it that we're missing!) :-(
About 4-5 at the moment?
The Nillkin PET film one is very high quality and a perfect fit - If the brotect flexible glass one still lifts I will order a couple of those - they are a good compromise for real glass.
Suspect that my brotects may be here tomorrow or Thursday. I frikkin' love applying a new glass protector
Someone else has left a 1 star review with the same problem now :-(
Only issue is that i seem to have joined the 'bought the wrong screen protector' club - think i'll be waiting for comments on how well the brotect ones work before getting another one!
I think I go with this http://www.protectionfilms24.com/article/2x-brotect-matte-screen-protector-motorola-moto-x-ce-1914418.html though as it says anti-glare, anti-scratch and anti fingerprints.
The one you've shown is extra-hard but I assume X Force would not need that?
I've decided to take a chance on - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100-GENUINE-Tempered-Glass-Screen-Protector-for-Motorola-Moto-X-Force-2015-NEW-/252198007063
£2.99, looks to have the correct cut outs for the sensors etc and does reference the curvature of the phone. The feedback on eBay for ones that have sold is also positive, although unfortunately no comments specifically about the fit, just the usual 'great bayer' type stuff. I'll post back when they arrive, hopefully by Friday.
Also everyhing from the same seller on ebay 50p cheaper
http://www.amazon.co.uk/BROTECT-Protector-Motorola-Anti-Glare-Protection/dp/B018SKUQOI/
Still waiting for delivery as they're coming from Germany, Amazon ETA says 1st March, ordered late on 7th Feb.. but I don't think it will take as long as that really... surely not, unless they're walking it over.
Nice, thanks OP!
Mark is currently making delivery number 36, you are delivery number 61.
Mark is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes away from you.
You can watch Mark's progress on our map.
sorry!
Have gone mental and ordered wireless chargers, NFC tags even already. Do try the NFC beam feature.. old news for others, but fantastic novelty for me  ... think I'm p*ssing the wife off tho, as I constantly keep sharing stuff with here lol
All it means is that the Android OS treats it as a separate storage volume rather than creating a single 'virtual' volume.
My recommendation: format it as portable storage and manually move apps that you are happy to keep on the SD card using the Apps menu in settings.
Android 6.0 as posted above does this differently. System files are put on it as well as other things.
I haven't tested the feature myself so I'm only commenting on what I read above.
"Once a storage device is adopted, it becomes part of the system and is no longer removable. Sure you can physically remove it, but you'll be prompted to put it back while apps and services crash on your phone or tablet. It's adopted — taken in and loved by the system, and made part of the whole. If you try to remove it, things go haywire"
http://www.androidcentral.com/inside-marshmallow-adoptable-storage
You can still move apps to the SD card if needed so don't bother using the internal/adopted storage functionality.
Also means that if you need to swap the phone for any reason, you can get up and running a lot quicker.
Already got an LG G4. Anyone able to convince me not to break the seals on this box and just return it instead...?
One thing noticed, the sim tray has place for 2 sims, does that mean it actually supports 2 sims, or is this UK ver disabled?
Other thing, some site mentioned if you add SD storage, it becomes part of the internal storage rather than treated as separate. Nice if it works well :-)
If you remove the shattershield it invalidates the warranty and also being plastic its prone to easily scratching - so a glass protector is probably a good idea.
On the OP2 it was quite accurate and quick to unlock using the scanner
however im using smart unlock and on the Moto force which seems quite intelligent
only one minus for me - no fingerprint )
This one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B018SKUWPQ ... claims to be flexible. Cover wise, I like the ones with a stand built in, have used such types over the years. But, it will make your phone bulky of course. I want it for that feature more than the protection aspect of it. Went for this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0166B15NC
There may have been a stock issue too. I spoke to the asst. manager of a CPW yesterday and he said that even though they showed lots of stock on the system, there never seemed to be any in his store.
Customers showing interest were told there was no stock and were invariably sold an alternative instead.
You mixing with samsung.
Missus got moto g (first one) and she received android 5 before my nexus 4 !!!

Am I right that this is identical to the Droid Turbo 2 apart from the name?
First phone I have used smart lock on too - very useful.

Mono front facing speaker - this is not issue at all, still hundred times better than back speaker.
To actually hear stereo speakers need to be at least 1m aside - which is impossible to achieve in smartphone.
* No notification LED
* Mono front facing speaker
Hopefully not deal breakers, but to be aware of. I'm seriously tempted to go for the Force myself if I could sell my X Play for a reasonable price.
Antutu run 1, score 93000 - CPU-Z shows temp 40`C just after the test, phone feels cold
Antutu run 2, score 91000 - CPU-Z shows temp 40, max 46`C on one of the cores, just after the test, phone feels bit warmer
Antutu run 3, score 90000 - CPU-Z shows temp 42, max 49`C on one of the cores, just after the test, phone feels the same
Antutu run 4, score 69000 only- CPU-Z shows temp 40, max 42`C on one of the cores, just after the test, phone feels the same
Antutu run 5, score 68000 only- temp surprisingly low CPU-Z shows temp 40, max 44`C, just after the test, phone feels the same - just warm, not hot at all.
This is last run cause battery is almost dead.
What does this mean ??
This should be the deal of the year.
I've been looking for a long while to replace my 3years old nexus 4 (still running good) and this phone ticks all of the boxes.
-Reasonable size - can be operated one handed
-Loads of RAM
-Fast processor (SD810 but not overheating.... surprisly)
-MicroSD
-Front facing speaker
-Screen that is not going to be in million pieces after first contact with the floor.
-Costs less than weekly wage.
Geekbench3 single core 3rd, multi core second
Both protectors (from the same seller on ebay) will not stick to the screen? pops up on upper and lower edges, anyone else tried a tempered glass protector with this? Hoping it is just this batch/make
Have decided to stick with standard plastic protectors.

Trying the flexible glass ones now.
Looking at the droid turbo 2 forums (same phone) they suggest that a 'flexible' glass protector is required as the screen has a slight curve top and bottom. Verizon in the states actually sell a special 9H flexible glass screen for it
http://www.verizonwireless.com/accessories/vzw-flexible-glass-screen-protector-for-droid-turbo-2/
I have chanced these ones from Amazon - they look to have the same properties. I will post an update here when they arrive.

Did you put the Moto X Play through the hotwash?
and can it only be used online?
might buy it instore
The bezels make this phone much bigger than it needs to be. I prefer the form factor of last years Droid Turbo with its 5.2" screen.
I might buy a new one of those from China on Fleabay instead.
I know it's not relevent here, but it makes me wish I'd never got rid of my 32Gb LG G2. The size of that handset was perfect for me. I caught a case of upgrade-itis and have regretted it ever since.
Heat added for this deal though.
on another thread some are saying 2 years, carphone warehouse website says 1 year but my last moto phone had 2 years
Thanks
Many thanks

Once upgraded to latest Marsmallow (Android 6.0) do this:
Power down the phone
Click on it and find:
Window Animation Scale
Transition Animation Scale
Animation Duration Scale
Change all of them to "Animation off"
As you may thought this just turns off "nice" animations - while opening, closing app etc.
But speeds up opening time so the phone is much more responsive.
With this phone, not a [email protected] was given that day
It looks like it has the same version 2.1 as the nexus 6p. But not found anything definitive.
Only thing I can see missing, compared to Nexus 6p is a fingerprint sensor?
And it has a bonus of Micro SD card slot with Marshmallow using it as internalised storage too.
This is comparable to a 6p for sure.
The newchipsets, particularly the 810 were poor really.
Hopefully the 2016 Snapdragon processors will work to their full potential without over-heating or over-throttling.
But in the same thought the S7/G5 and others are probably only a couple months away so I'll try and restrain from ordering :disappointed:
I'm actually delighed though, sold mine 2 weeks ago second hand on ebay for £350 so this was a right touch for me :'(
it's also got wireless charging and water resistance.
As mentioned the top removable screen scratches easier than most but is replaceable. I run mine without a protector because of that. To be fair I've yet to find a way to buy the replaceable top screen in UK. They won't ship!!
Other than that - best phone I've had and a decent upgrade to the Nexus 5 etc.
Yes, you could smash it with a pick axe, but you deserve all you get with that.
This phone's screen will survive when others just shatter. simples

Here's another similar-specced phone (though I can't vouch for the brand):

Yes, excellent phone. I purchased the Moto X Play < 3 months ago and can't justify buying this one without selling that at a reasonable price.
http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_x_force-7555.php
Nice phone - prompted me to updated to Marshmallow as soon as it booted, so that was nice

Speaking of accessories anyone know a portable charger which will fast charge this?
Is it possible to mod this to make it dual sim?
I simply think people to whom this phone appeals aren't happy with shelling out 500£ for it, regardless of how good it is so basically it doesn't sell. I believe this also explains this price cut, cpw were the first ones to have it in UK and marketed it a lot so I presume they have loads of stock that simply didn't sell. (I mean who would buy from cpw when you can buy from Amazon or JL for the same price...)
Out of interest which charger is 25W,I only own a 15W turbo? (I would like to get the 25W one).
This is as close to an XDA section for it http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo-2
Not much going on there.
Seriously though, why would Motorola release their flagship with a smaller batter life than their two mid rangers?
In saying that, everything else is superb specially the front facing speakers. It's amazingly loud and clear.
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=210&t=1569397&i=20
This has almost double the battery size when compared to X 2nd gen so that should be really good.
It's a perfect phone but hate the battery life tbh.
Ordered. Heat.
1st rule, after a big update, do a full reset, 2nd rule never restore from play store back up, always do a fresh install.
I'm at about 20% brightness.
