Monsters Green Power Centres are energy efficient power strips with surge protectors. They feature a control system, which will automatically turn off devices connected to one of its sockets whenever they’re not in use, saving you money on your electricity bills and helping to look after the planet in the process.
Dual Mode Plus technology will disconnect your Power Centre from dangerous sources and sound an alarm, preventing your equipment from getting damaged and keeping you informed of why you may have lost power.
They are also certified fireproof, through the use of ceramic blocks which are used to protect sensitive parts of the surge protector, ensuring that they cannot catch fire.

This might be what they are actually worth, I remember when I used to sell these at Comet for £100 a pop. Criminal.

the third picture shows the front of the box. It looks like it says 1.5 M ?
I don't own this device so cannot confirm, maybe one of the people who have bought it can elaborate.

These aren't great - I have had 3 of these and the each socket stops working one by one - the last of the three I have has 3 sockets not working.

Never had an issue with a monster product personally but worked for a retailer selling them and have never had an issue or getting in contact with them and neither had my customers

They didn't realise in time that the general public are not mugs and didn't believe them when they told them they NEED a £100 extension lead because they bought a £400 TV.
Currys PC World are still practising the same techniques on buyers with their selling of insurance, AV etc. Let's see if they go the same way.

Comet dumped the commission based sales approach about 12 months before they closed, entirely too late.
Monster products would fetch 10% commission, which is why they were pushed so hard by the sales people.

actually here's the version in this deal for £12.99 prime delivery https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00HZK0OAO/
wrong item pictured, but title and description says it's the AV550G

OK, so silly question, but how many people in the UK have ever suffered from equipment damaged in a power surge? We all know we are supposed to use these protection plugs but really. From my experience our electricity is stable enough.

where I live now I'm fine, but in the last place I rented I had surges every week. not every property is new and wired perfectly.
I'm happy to pay an extra couple quid to protect a couple thousand £ of equipment. a decent 6 or 8 plug extension with half decent internal components (not cheap Chinese tat) cost about this anyway.

actually these plugs won't protect you from anything. an expert once posted how a tv could still be damaged using one of these.
i cant remember how exactly but he seemed to know his stuff and it was a very detailed and informative post.
i would still buy these things because they tend to be the same price as normal extensions.
i stick with belkin though monster are a horrible company

Just once but it blew my Tagan power supply and capacitors on my motherboard. Couldn't afford to build a new PC for a while. That said there are perfectly decent power surge protected extensions with cover for decent prices.

There are many people pretending to be experts so I would not believe everything you read.
No equipment can fully protect against lightening striking a pylon. The substations have equipment to dissipate lots of energy but some will always get past.
Every bit of protection will take some additional energy away and all electronic equipment have their own surge protection as it is necessary to pass the mandatory CE/EMC testing where surges, spikes and dips are part of the tests.
The PSU I have just designed and had pass these tests has components in to dissipate spikes as required by a consumer device but would fail if the spikes were upped to industrial levels where things like arc welders and such may be present.

These devices if cheap enough are definitely worth it. All electronics have surge protection already but adding something like this increased the protection by a significant amount and although not guaranteed to survive a lightening strike surge, would give significantly more chance of doing so.
Yes spikes are common which is why all electronics have to have mandatory protection.
I remember years ago the piles of electronics equipment we had returned for fixing after a bad thunderstorm. The piles are smaller nowadays due to mandatory CE/EMC compliance but the pile is still present and using additional surge protectors significantly 'reduces' the chance of your tech being on the damaged pile.
Oh and smaller towns and villages are more susceptible to this type of damage than central city locations which is why some suffer and others don't.

Sorry about that, you were weak and I was in serious need of that 10% commission.
Year later, I became a waiter, at least those customers got to choose if they gave me 10%... Complete absolution there for me of course.
