I bought these on Amazon for the kids to use on their Pi Zeros, they work fine. The ones I bought came with a battery which can be charged via the mini usb port on the keyboard, I paid more than the £5 odd, but would definitely buy the model with the rechargeable battery for a couple of quid more.

4 Feb 16#36
Never been impressed with this type of controller for Android TV sticks etc.
From my experience I'd rather pay a bit more for the Logitech K400/K400 Plus keyboard and touchpad.
Luckily I bought my two in the USA for US$10 for the K400 and US$20 for the K400 Plus but the UK pricing seems quite a bit higher unless you can get this tax free?
You connect these to your device of choice by bluetooth. You only need the USB cable for charging. I've not got a firestick, but a quick google suggests you can pair bluetooth keyboards with them.
Is it not saying that the optional bigger capacity battery (400/800) is not included?
Further up in the spec it states
"Removable lithium battery, super long standby"
I've never seen one of these not come with a battery, and none of the reviews mention it lacking one.
EDIT: Ah, I can see the space for the 2 AAA batteries in the photo.

i know i may be asking the obvious since description suggests so, but will these work on a shield TV (android tv) and/or on a win10 tablet with the receiver plugged in ? (micro usb to normal usb hub on the tablet). my shield seems a bit finniky if i have more than 1 input device plugged in (won't work with my ps3 controller and a 3rd party pc/ps3 controller plugged in together, it's either/or) so will i have to opt for the bluetooth version ?
might take a punt on the amazon one anyway, worst that happens is i have to send it back.

I have a similar one. It's ok but doesn't seem to have the ability to actually turn on an Android box which means you still need to use the original controller.

In the specs says that batteries aren't included, and for what I can see in the pictures there is a gap for normal AA (or AAA) bateries and another for litium batteries. Anyone knows which litium batteries this keyboard uses? Wouldn't buy this one if I need to spend another 5£ in a battery...
Why would lithium ion battery version be better? If it dies, you throw the whole thing away? If charge has depleted, then you cannot use, unlike standard battery ones? Am I missing anything?

Kodi is great for handling your media collection - so films you have on an external harddrive, music, youtube etc but in order to 'stream virtually any film he searches for' he'll be using 10-a-penny plug-in's for Kodi which are trash.
The reason being is that they simply link to streaming websites online, and you have to jump through a ton of hoops to actually find a legitimate stream that wont go 'blocky' or stop playing mid-way through. No doubt he'll be using something like 'Genesis' or 'Phoenix', using a custom Kodi build like 'The Wizard' which comes pre-loaded with loads of crap that you actually don't need.
It's entirely your shout as to how you use it etc, but don't think it'll be a one-stop-movie-shop because you'll be plagued with issues.
Now, if you are downloading torrents in 720/1080p (blu-rays, web-dl's etc) then you'll benefit from fantastic quality and no issue of trying to stream sources that get pulled usually with 24hrs of going live because you'll be storing them locally on a hard-drive ...
By all means get the box but don't bother with the streams. Download your content instead.

I bought the White one from Aliexpress. Delivery was around 2 weeks.
Make sure it can take AA batteries as some don't and will only work with their own battery pack. Which could be a problem when the battery pack dies. At least with AA you can get replacements.
I use it with my Android TV Box (an M8S for £32) also bought from Aliexpress. It works a treat and saves you getting arthiritis when needing to type something. The mouse pad takes a bit of getting used to but it works great once you get the hang of it.
Those sceptical about buying from Aliexpress... Before and during xmas i place about 30 different orders, most with different sellers and every single one of them arrived. Nothing got held up in customs and nothing got lost in transit. Admittedly some took almost 4 weeks but understandable given the 11.11 sales and xmas period. and all the items were as described and worked great. We had a really cheap xmas.
Thanks for taking the time to post. I appreciate it, and you've well and truly put me off one of those boxes!

after a few weeks this started developing annoying behavior in where it will lose connection after you either turn the remote off or let it "sleep"and it didn't reestablish the connection when turned back on/wake up unless you plug out/in the usb dongle a few times. Might be due to living in block of flats and too many people using wireless devices. Also if it is close to the babymonitor the babymonitor loses signal
sohighicantouchthesky
8 Feb 16#126
I haven't tried any x265 content, but i did wonder ... I'll stay away from it in that case. To be honest there is no need for me to look to that codec anyway as storage space isn't an issue.

Approximately £17.81
Quick delivery and includes the Lithium Battery
£8.95
is it a rechargeable battery?
Build-in removable rechargeable Li-ion battery that has longer standby time
1 * Mini Wireless keyboard(Battery Not included)
1 x USB Cable(96 cm length)
1 x USB Receiver(inside the back case)
this one http://www.gearbest.com/mice-keyboards/pp_178154.html?wid=1 has the battery for £7.22 (which I cancelled) I went for the white Amazon one instesd http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00DUUF30Y?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
as it has battery and £ symbol
"Power supply: 1.5V 3A battery 2 (Optional 400mA/800mA lithium battery)(Not included)"
Is it not saying that the optional bigger capacity battery (400/800) is not included?
Further up in the spec it states
"Removable lithium battery, super long standby"
I've never seen one of these not come with a battery, and none of the reviews mention it lacking one.
EDIT: Ah, I can see the space for the 2 AAA batteries in the photo.
might take a punt on the amazon one anyway, worst that happens is i have to send it back.
If vote cold on some one`s post tell them `why`.
so many just here to joke for others and make them feel good to put down.
if you vote `make with a meaning`.also leave a remark or site no work.
if cold say why.if hot say why. if not do not vote.
others may find hot if you not need to vote, be real.
thanks

Let's face it you're buying it for the mouse more than the keyboard.
And charges via mini usb as opposed to micro which is an odd choice
well worth the buy!!!

e.g. I type hotukdeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
1) you wont have to wait 2-3 weeks for delivery.
2) its easier to get replaced when it arrives faulty.
It's battery is covered and I can't see how to change it but it's lasted well so far and nice size keys.
I'd say stick to Rii and buy from in the UK battery safety is important.
Price is good, but not outstanding. I'd still recommend getting one as it's handy for the odd bit of typing/navigation.
...and this keyboard would seem to be the perfect partner, although I think I'll hunt out the new backlit version.
I suppose it would be useful for my PS3 too.

I've sent you a private message re torrents as I didn't want to go off topic posting on this thread.
I will be voting cold.
I went through a long spell of getting the cheapest thing I could find that would do the job thinking a pound saved is a pound earnt, that can then also earn interest too. But I found myself having horrible user experiences, hating the quality, and replacing faulty equipment very often.
I'll reply to your PM in abit mate ☺️
Thanks for the info.
I received your private message, thanks for your advice and recommendations.
Just to let you know I've tried to reply, but it says you have your private messaging turned off. Please turn it on so I can get my message over to you!
Cheers
