I microwave hot dog sausages in a cup and it always worked really well until some I had a few weeks ago decided to celebrate the new Star Wars film by blowing up like the Death Star.

CRUK doesn't say 'it does not cause cancer', they say currently 'there is no convincing scientific evidence to substantiate these health warnings against plastics.'
VERY different!

"You can use cling film and plastics in the microwave, but make sure you use them properly and in line with the instructions on the packet, for example, make sure the cling film doesn’t touch the food."
Not very reassuring

If your food is splattering in the microwave.. you're not warming it up correctly.
Try a lower setting or take out the food every so often and stir it if possible.

Found this a little small diameter wise, but good for those with small plates
Nothing special I bought a pair of microwave cloches (that's the proper name for these covers) for £1. Worth buying unless you wanna clean the inside of your microwave on a regular basis.

I've never actually seen microwaveable cling film - in all of the shops that I've looked in, the box just states that it is cling film, never microwaveable cling film - where do you actually buy this product from? Thank you.

I think most stores do a basic version. I bought one from asdas... really needed it asap!!! but the aldi one is a lot better... better plastic making it more durable and slightly bigger as well (have bought it in the past)

Noticed the other day while browsing that Wilko sell similar at £1 and ongoing stock line - ie don't have to find in special at Aldi, though suspect Wilko design is slightly more basic - ie appears to be vented all round rather than pop-up (if required). http://www.wilko.com/microwaves+mini-ovens/wilko-microwave-plate-cover/invt/0228998
