Will O2 unlock this after you buy it?

The specs are poor, even if the OS is well tuned and slick. Snapdragon 212, no thanks.

If you are a PAYG customer, I think O2 makes you wait a year before they will unlock it for you for £15. Vodafone makes you wait 30 days before unlocking for a fee of £19.99. Giffgaff & 3 sell all their phones unlocked.

MS really need to lower these to the prices they sell these for in the USA.
Picked one up as a spare for £22 in the USA last week.

US prices do not include sales tax because it varies from state to state.

I can't seem to add this to my basket unless I add a PAYG Sim (minimum £10). I just want the phone.

HEAT!
But this is same price as VF last month, which is easy & cheap to unlock.. unlike
the O2 locked one :-(

Got this at this price for the mrs at xmas. Seems a good phone and she's happy with it.

That was included. The base price of the 640 is wildly cheaper.

I ordered one for my folks but forgot that O2 remove the chargers from all the handsets they sell. Tried to get it unlocked using an eBay service and they couldn't do it. Unopened, so will be sending it back.

Do they ship over here? I couldn't see any overseas listings.

I've bought a couple of Lumias from O2 and an ihpone4 as well, they all worked with TescoMobile SIM out of the box.

Decent deal imo but not voting. Had no end of trouble getting ALL the O2 handsets I've had in the past unlocked.

Is this phone any good?, I am so tempted to get this, but I'm unsure about Windows Phone, and I've heard they are not that many apps either available on the Windows Store compared to iOS & Android, I've never tried a Lumia before, ever, but I do currently own an iPhone 4S, which I am growing tired of.

There are definitely fewer apps on Windows Phone, but I switched a couple of years back & Im pretty happy with it (on Windows 8 phone). Does pretty much everything an iphone did for me, although the UI is not as sleek. But the phones are a fraction of the price, they support memory cards & battery replacements and all the basics are there as they are on the iPhone - except iTunes of course.

I see there's a few ebay shops that promise lumia 640 unlocks on 02. Has anyone had any success with one of those?

I sent my IMEI to one and they couldn't do it. Apparently they reckoned that my phone wasn't found on the O2 servers. That's because I don't want to use it unless I can guarantee I can unlock it. I just provided the IMEI from the unopened box. I'm currently waiting to return the handset. If anyone has had any success with this please post to the thread.

Is there a way to buy this for just £79 without needing to buy an additional package if you're already on O2 as sim only please?

Pick one of the PAYG tariffs and they send a blank SIM with no extra charge, despite it appearing to cost £10 when selected. It doesn't actually add any money to the basket.

Thanks.
Does this apply to click & collect? I want to pick up from a store but don't want them to force me to do a £10 top up. :disappointed:

Having a lot of grief trying to get my money back after sending this handset back to O2 unopened. Several weeks later now, and got an email asking me to call them to give the card details to get the refund. However I am now told they aren't needed and the CS guy has to fill out a form, I have to wait another two weeks. Why did they send me an email asking me to call then? I'll certainly be avoiding buying anything from their website ever again. If it takes any longer I'll be involving American Express. Their own policies state that the refund takes two weeks from receipt of goods, not four.

Just a note to say that getting a refund from O2 is proving very very difficult. They had the handset back over a month ago unopened and I still haven't had my money back. I've already chased it three times now. Bunch of crooks.
