Dunelm budget Simply range from £5 for a single, managed to get a King for £8.75 from £35 (2cm depth) for the spare bed.
Bamboo range also reduced to clear (3cm depth) managed to get a king from £59.99 reduced to £14.99, I have this ontop of a Silentnight memory mattress (soft/medium firm but its very hard) and you can feel the difference.
Discontinued lines, manager states nationwide reduction on store stocks.
Bamboo range has a cooling cover made from bamboo, certainly cooler than a Silentnight mattress :)

Got a cheap one... cut it up and used it as extra padding in various baggy seat cushions...

No you don't but I agree 2cm is crap.
3" is plenty for a topper which is 7.5cm.
