Android almost uses up all of the RAM that is available to it. Even my OnePlus Two that has 4GB of RAM, 2GB of that is used just on Android.

1GB is usable though, 512MB isn't as good.

I have a couple of spare phones kicking about after upgrades etc, but I have never 'bought' a phone with the purpose of it being a 'spare' phone.

I guess for a spare phone or for kids this is a good buy. The small battery so shorter on time will keep them kids from playing games all day, and smaller mean they won't drop so easily like they do with tablets. Nothing lost if it gets lost or stolen. Heat for me

Android uses RAM differently to Windows. It doesn't 'waste' RAM by keeping it free, it actually utilises it all efficiently. Why have 1GB RAM sitting there doing nothing, when it could be used to speed up an application's load time?

look battery not great but can fox that with a 50000 mah power bank from ebay for 8 pounds
display not good
processor not fast but livable
ram not great but livable memory bad but expandable
camera very average price amazing

Great deal , Makes me laugh why people pay more than 50quid for a phone given the most common usage out of these things is to actually call and occasionally check emails and social media which every cheap phone can do these days . also speaking of the cameras , Again who cares it's a picture to share for most people and not everybody is trying to launch photography career.

i've rated hot because its £20 but i bet it will be a laggy phone due to the actual android basically idles at 1GB RAM so it will be at full ram usage all the time.

my moto g and many of my other devices have 1GB, certainly don't seem laggy to me. In fact my 2GB tablets are the laggy 'feeling' ones.
phone text, message, hangouts, satnavs, SSH, photos all work fine on them.
this should be fine for all but those bothered by a need to have high specs.

pants for grandparents though, can never train them to put things on charge when not in use.

The only problem with this phone is the 8gb internal memory as the newer android versions like lollipop won't let you move apps to sd card even if the apps allow it , don't know why this is as it is a very backward step and the expandable memory with sd is only really usable for photos and music now

I recently got the medion e5004 from aldi which has 16gb of internal memory and i have used over half of that so this 8gb one would be no good for me

having said that for £19.99 it is very cheap if you can put up with not too many apps on the phone
