My temp wall mounted installation has a top-hinged flap cut from an old plastic rectangular pedal bin, effectively shrouding all but the lower cable in/egress panel but extending lower than that panel. Looks like some bizarre variation of a gas/electric utility box.
Native protection level for this item is defined as "Protected against water spray from all directions" which could be reasonably interpreted as rainproof for temp wall-mounted applications as described in marketing blurb, unless of course the location is the wall of a lighthouse facing the north sea or other extreme conditions that will be cited by the pickers of nit.
Even with a flap arrangement, the pickers will still cite possibilities of kids using the sockets in the box for mains-powered water canon to be fired under the flap. See where I'm coming from?

Thanks I might try to create a parasol to cover mine and hang on something as I had one before and it was full with water when I had left on the ground (not plugged in) for my water features. I ended up covering with thick plastic bags which was not the best.

It is supposed to be wall-mounted (with the cable panel in the lower-most position!), so technically even if there was some minor water ingress, it would arguably seep away via the cable panel hence not "fill up." I would not feel comfortable in leaving and using this item for an extended period with the opening lid being in the upper-most position.

Is the 8m extension lead detachable? the reason i am asking this is because i have the main socket inside the house and i plan to use this by drilling a small hole and then having this box placed outside with the socket connected inside. The issue is if the end is not detachable then i will have to drill a big hole to the size of end 3 pin plug? or any other suggestions any one?

Don't quite follow the Q, but worst case scenario to avoid having to drill a sizeable hole to pass 3-pin mains plug: remove plug from cable (cut off if moulded to cable); route cable inside as required; refit plug (or fit new plug). Could possibly alternatively remove cable from the 4-way block to effect same, but I'm reluctant to take my 4-way block apart to see if wiring is fixed by screws (= easy remove/refit) or crimped (= difficult remove/refit).
