I was searching for the monitor + Acer Revo one deal in my local Sainsbury Murrayfields in Edinburgh, when I came across a reduced to clear red sticker with the above tablet at the £40. It was in front of the display model, but I couldn't find any nearby. A shop assistant came by at the same time, and I asked him if they had any left. He grabbed the sticker and went out back and sadly came back with a negative answer. He wouldn't give me the sticker back for a picture either.

So no picture of the sticker and obviously didn't come away with a tablet, but it might be worth chasing (geese, maybe) in your local store.

It has been on sale for 159.95 previously and on offer for £79.50 about a month ago:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/linx-10-lite-windows-10-2gb-ram-16gb-st-79-50-sainsburys-instore-2368782

Flame away for this, but you might be lucky.

PS. I don't seem to be able to get instore Sainsbury's Murrayfield on the headline. Sorry.

I posted a Tesco £20 Blu-Ray player deal on here some time ago, and was accused of all sorts of things. Being a Tesco employee was one of them, but over the course of 24 hours it was proven to be pretty much nationwide, and even the most vocal person dishing out the accusations managed to snag one himself in the end. People are generally treated quite poorly on here, it's a surprise that people ever come back!

I was walking past my local Bentley dealer today and there was a sign in the window advertising a new Continental GT for only £3.99. I went inside but the salesman said they had just sold the last one. Unfortunately he would not give me the sign, or let me take a photo of it, and I can't remember the address of the dealer or which town it was in so I don't have anything to verify the deal. It would be worth everyone searching around their local Bentley dealerships though, just in case they see any more in stock ...

Just called my other local Sainsbury's and they didn't have it either. But if anybody is near Kinross, then they have it there she said.

(No Acer Revo either, sadly)

It has (obviously to me) been in my store and I have it from staff that it exists in Kinross. I don't really care much about imaginary internet points, but I like a good deal. I would have bought it, if it was in stock in my store - maybe it is in stock in yours or one nearby. As I said, it might be a wild goose chase, but it is a good deal if you can find it.

Here's how it works : it's a range change time in Sainsburys (and Tesco's). Some stores will not be selling some products after the change so they reduce them "to clear"- and staff will usually buy these for themselves - but still put the price tickets out as they're not supposed to do that. In other stores, where they will continue to sell the product after the change, the same product will stay at full price.
There's an iPad mini (16GB WiFi) reduction to 219 -> 150 -> and now 99.99 (I've seen the tickets out), but if you try and locate any stock you'd be out of luck.
Not voting either way purely for the effort but take these "reduced to clear" deals for what they are - a myth.

OP; "So no picture of the sticker and obviously didn't come away with a tablet"
I've probably missed the point here, but if £40 is a really hot price for this tablet and there was one on display, did you not try to buy it? It might have been minus its box, cables, whatever, but for £40...

Of course it might have needed the bar code on the box to do so, or even the PoS RTC sticker, but if you don't ask...

You could just say you heard from a guy on the internet that Bentley were selling the Continental GT for £3.99, and although he did not buy one himself, or have any evidence of the deal, or remember which Bentley dealer made the offer, that should be plenty to justify £124,996.01 off a Gallardo coupe.

siraj13
11 Feb 16 1 #53
Right, so I embarked on my first ever wild goose chase. I called up Sainsbury's and spoke to a guy called Daniel who took down the tablet details and told me it's on clearance for £40 (without me mentioning this) - he then checked and found that basically most stores near me were out of stock. He spoke to the store in Tottenham who said they would be due more stock next week (which I thought was strange considering it's supposed to be "clearance".) Another store that may have some is Chelmsford but as the GM department is currently closed, the staff cannot check the stock room. Will call tomorrow morning (and post on here) but not sure if a 50mile round trip is really worth it for this tablet.

16GB on a Windows 10 tablet is bloody useless, I wouldn't bother honestly.

I paid £50 for the Linx 7 back around Christmas but it's the 32GB version and even the storage on that needs to be cleared once in a while just because of Windows updates etc... Windows will not work properly on 16GB, it'll just be a very frustrating experience.

Struggling to install Windows updates at the moment, the first attempt failed as it was 300mb short of space.
With a Micro SD card installed the update will start to process but when I checked at 3:00am it was stuck at 14%.
Having another go this morning but might need to use a USB stick with the media creation tool instead. I noticed the processor is x64, anyone know if this device can handle Win 64?

There's potentially something wrong with the bios too, I can't use any search engine besides Bing as it returns an unsecure connection message. Going direct to a web address is fine and no other devices on my network are having this issue. Further investigation required over the weekend.

Surprisingly little bloatware on the device besides standard Windows apps and a couple of Sainsbury's Entertainment programs (there's a £5 discount code in the box!).

On the upside the two full size USB ports are really useful, headphone DAC/amp is running great via Foobar with ASIO installed though I'm sure it will slaughter the battery. Hopefully it can handle SACD/DSD files too as it will make a nice portable audio rig.

It's a good deal for someone who a) can find one and b) wants a pretty basic tablet. The Linx 1010 is pretty good but obviously a lot dearer.

I've got a Linx 8 which I use for streaming from Xbox One and Steam. though it's a pain that it uses the same port for USB and charging (stupid idea). and, yes, I did get the Revo One deal in Sainsburys too, which I was pretty pleased with.

The onboard storage is far too small, almost unusable due to the size of the operating system, a Micro SD card is essential. Windows 10 is no way near as slick and tablet friendly as Android but it does function like a full fat computer albeit rather slow. I keep opening programs twice as it takes so long to react

Have been installing these updates all morning, will be gutted if it fails a third time.
Edit: Marvellous it failed again, this time at the 40% mark (Apparently that can be caused by a Micro SD card). Time to try again with a USB stick :disappointed:

I updated a 32Gb asus vivo 8 the other night which i had updated to win 10 previously but was the large december update...after faffing and needing a micro sd it did eventually start the install but took the best part of all evening and only for an incremental!

I think referring to your x64 question they add the 32bit license to try and keep the os size down as these tablets struggle with <32GB

Keep trying.

I have a linx 10 lite bought when it was 50 quid in sainsburys a few weeks ago. Got the keyboard for it for 25 quid off amazon and a 128gb card. £110 all in. And it's amazing! Not kidding, I prefer it to my surface 3. And I prefer my surface 3 to my iPad Air. For the price it's a stunning bit of kit, and runs all windows software. If you can get it for anything like fifty quid it's a bargain. Just get a micro SD card as well, ideally before doing the windows 10 update as you can install all the apps/software on the card.

What the MicroSD read speed on this? I've got the Linx 810 leather edition two weeks ago and it's not loading many if any apps / games that are from the windows marketplace. Cant seem to find an sd card thats fast enough wont benchmark past 22MB/s read and with USB same happens even though benchmarks at 42MB/s .

FYI : I've got some full desktop blown classic applications games working including Halo 2 though the online is dead, oh and House of the Dead 3 is a blast on touchscreen so nice being table to tap to kill the zombies  Since I've not upgraded or purchased a new desktop in over 10 years all my retail pc games are old enough to run on this without problem. I'm going to try some games I purchased on Steam in the sale today too.

I know Burnout Paradise works and well with 2GB ram many more games will work than the model I picked up just 16GB internal is rather limiting you wont be able to have many apps for that space to enjoy.

Also plays 4K YouTube without any hickups allow it to buffer in full and it works.

I've yet to try the HDMI out but my only two issues so far is the WIFI and the issue playing apps/games from the marketplace from other storage doesn't work too well if at all.

OP .. I would have LUVVVVVVVVV'ed to have gotten my ones of these for only £40 each?.

Needless to say I paid more at the time!. :-(

Lol. :-)

I have this already, and it does NOT come with Windows 10 'pre-installed' on it as standard?, so .....

It comes with Windows 8.1 installed on it instead.

You need to allow it to install your Windows 10 on it for you after ..... lol. :-)

And the Linx 8 is the exact same too! (as I have that also).

is that just a stand? or on a changing cradle?
I see the pogo connectors on the bottom of the tablet, anyone know if there is a charger cradle to fit these?

I can't believe I got one tbh, it already has windows 10 on it and I put a 32gig micro sd card in, currently doing app and associated updates, for £40 I'm delighted (so far).
