I can relate! Also, to all the Daily Mail insults as well! I just wish all the anti right-wing press feeling was indicative of the country as a whole. I frequently despair when I go into any of my local supermarkets because all the punters seem to buy is right-wing rags! And surprise, surprise, ask people round here anything about current affairs and they spout the same right-wing drivel! A visit to shelves where the papers are located is equally depressing - right-wing rags get premium placement, in huge piles and everything else gets shoved around the back in pitiful quantities. Grrr!

Marvellous irony - the Sun promoting a German supermarket

22 Feb 161#60
The Sun couldn't really give a toss about the UK, neither could Lidl! It often makes me smile, when I see them banging on about stuff like, "... all our meat comes from British farms," etc (like that's going to encourage me to shop there because they're so loyal, not). I'm sure they're saying exactly the same about whatever country they're based in.

Heat, but... Yeah, I'm personally not buying a copy of The Sun. Ever.

21 Feb 163#55
the irony is that there are more comments about not making opinionated comments than anti sun comments! what is the problem with people expressing a view? buying a newspaper is an inherently ideological/political choice so therefore cannot just be blandly viewed as deal/non deal. let the people have their say!
SpudGunner to smitn1
21 Feb 161#56
Because this site is about sharing deals, comments should relate to if the deal is good value or not. Bringing in political/idealogy comments is not relevant, that is up to people to decide for themselves where they shop, what they read etc By spending 70p you then save £5 off a shop is the deal. No one is forcing anyone to then read the newspaper
There were over 6 pages in this thread mainly of anti-sun and non relevant political comments which the Mods have removed thankfully so the thread may look a bit odd now (as per the mods comments above)

I agree with you. Some are not aware of the political shenanigans involved in such papers
and these things factor in to whether people would deal or no deal on a certain HUKD.
Ignorance is not the way forward.
I'm glad someone agrees with me.
The ones complaining about bringing politics into it, I can sort of understand where they are coming from
but some of them are purposefully trying to keep people ignorant.
People deserve the truth (all of it) when they make a transaction.
Then, and only then, can a well informed choice be made.
I stand by my comments and those who agree with me.
The only reason it got extended into multiple posts was complaints of (mostly) ill-motivated people
wanting to distract from the message. Simple as that.

Replies or discussion on the topic of the newspaper should only be posted in the Miscellaneous forum and must remain respectful and constructive. There should be no soapboxing at any time. This is a deal thread and comments should try to pertain to the actual voucher and its usage / availability etc.
Thread tidied. Comments referencing / quoting deleted comments have also been removed as the bulk of the discussion no longer had any relevance to the actual listed vouchers and multiple members had complained that the thread had been derailed because of this. If unsuitable comments have been missed (off topic / soapboxing / posting to incite a response / trolling etc) please use the report link adjacent to the comment.
We have a MISC forum for debate / discussions that meet HUKD guidelines, please use it - thanks all

The worrying thing is that Lidl now appear to have rejected the other UK National Daily Newspapers and awarded their monthly voucher discount vouchers distribution to The Sun!
Regardless of politics - why are they the chosen ones?

I can't see the point in having an argument about the Sun or Daily Mail. I hate Rupey Murdoch but duly bought two copies of the Sun today. Two papers on a single day won't help his average sales figures but it'll save me cash. I use the voucher for one of their more expensive spirits and long term shopping like rubbish bags and anti limescale shower spray. It's great they offer these vouchers - far better than my local Tesco.

Nonsense!
They might be more relaxed with the "alcohol limit" in your local Lidl but in 90% of Lidl stores you won't even be allowed 2 cans of individually priced beer - or just ONE four pack "multi purchase"
Please post your local Lidl store location - for the rest of us to use for "reference" in arguments with our local Lidl store manager :smirk:

This website truly gets worse by the day. I couldn't give 2 hoots about peoples opinions about politics or the newspapers that they buy. It is meant to be about deals and that is what any discussions should be about not a place to trade insults. Seriously just grow up people.

This website is about deals,if you don't like a retailer or a product, go somewhere else and whine, login to a review website or join UKIP. £5 off £40 pounds spent at a supermarket where you get products that are equal to brands for half the price is a bargain, and if you don't like Lidl and shop at Waitrose you should get out of here already

Wow, people commenting about how they aren't going to purchase the Sun for a voucher because they don't like the newspaper..... that's original. Oh wait no it's the exact same crap every time someone posts a deal that involves purchasing this particular newspaper. I won't be buying it because I don't shop at lidl, that is the only reason. The main reason people don't like it is due to what was printed about Hillsborough ALMOST 30 YEARS AGO! Seriously it's been nearly 3 decades people need to get the **** over it. Honestly I couldn't give a rats **** about what they printed, they stupidly printed "facts" that were based off nothing but hearsay and rumours. People need to start getting over it, it's not like the paper caused the bleeding accident is it.

It`s one alcoholic product, not item. I bought 48 cans of lager as part of my last shop using a voucher, and so long as it is the same product, it`s allowed, so you could buy £40 worth of the same whisky, wine or whatever.

Voucher is not available from Lidl instore. Same leaflet but no coupon on back. As stated its valid from today until 28th. Apparently a store worker said there was a recent £5 voucher valid up until 18th Feb that took £10 off instead. Great for those who got that.
