This TV has been at this price once before just after Black Friday but has since been at £850.
I bought this during the Black Friday deal for £649 when Quidco were still offering 15% cash back through Curry's.
Picture, sound and interface are all fantastic. I don't think there is another TV at this size and price that comes close. HD and 4K media both look fantastic and quality of 3D will blow your socks off.

They only offer the 49uf770v for £579 with a 5 year warranty. The 850v is a superior set in a number of areas (build , 3D, sound) and well worth the extra £50 in my opinion.

Was about to order Sony Bravia KDL50W80 LED HD 1080p 3D Android TV, 50" (449 through Jean-Lewis price match) , and this deal comes....
Which is a better smart tv / deal?

I went in to buy this tv at the end of November when it was £649 at Currys. The 850 model was in a room by itself with nothing really to compare it to but the 770v was in a row next to Samsung's 50" JU6800 and Sony 50" 809C. Whilst LG have been very clever developing a UHD video which is very much like a picture slide show which shows the true quality of the picture, television programmes are not like that. I set all three tv's up to bbc1 as my Currys has freeview going to most if not all of their sets. I didn't like the picture quality of the Samsung, LG was better but the Sony was the best easily on BBC1, even on BBC1 HD Sony was better in my opinion. No evidence of any upscaling effect of terrestrial tv channels in HD. Playing the very cleverly designed demo videos on all three sets there was nothing to choose, LG maybe slightly better but if I had been buying that day it would have been the Sony due to the fact it clearly had a better picture for normal freeview programmes. Magic remote is a very nice gimmick. LG would have been my second choice but my only concern with LG is judder on slow panning which is what my current LG (2014 model) does. I think other brands upscale better but not much to choose between them, just being picky but I find myself every time I go into Currys checking the Sony to see if it has come back down to £549 which is how much it was in November.

Passive 3D on the LG is a totally different league to Active, 4K means its also Full HD resolution. LG TV's also are much better at processing low quality SD channels like 4 Music. For the same £, the choice is easy.

Good deal but Currys are one of the worst retailers. Will anyone price match them?

Good tv. Paid 649 with 13% cash back in November. Magic remote is brilliant and picture quality is stunning. I am still waiting for 5 years warranty paper work from Currys even after contracting them few weeks ago , is it just me or others have not received it either?

I had to contact them a few times too. My paperwork arrived last week.

They should have put it on your receipt that's how it normally works with Currys. As far as I know it isn't a manufacturer's warranty being offered, it's Currys own basic cover. They normally add that at the till. Go and ask in store as though your a new customer and see what they say. It would take a screen shot of their advert just for piece of mind in the future.

29 Feb 16#49
Am I missing something, the warranty / Care plan is an extra £139?
Smartguy1 to Arron5
29 Feb 16#51
No the 5 year warranty that comes with the tv (allegedly) is just a standard warranty if it breaks. The extra £139.00 adds additional features of the standard warranty. One interesting exclusion is this one.
Repairing or replacing a product which has been exposed to insect infestation (or similar phenomenon) or human or animal
fluid/matter.
There was an instance last year where Currys refused the warranty on someone's tv as it had a dead fly in it. Shouldn't have that issue with an LG if it's the same mine as there are no vents in it. The back is completely sealed.
Someone else posted about the 5 year warranty who had purchased one. It should state it on your receipt. If it doesn't make sure you take a screen shot of the advert as you may just need to prove your tv came with a 5 year warranty as they may try and wriggle out of a claim in two or three years time as you have no proof.

I purchased this yesterday, luckily I got an 8% discount (Work benefit, not Currys) plus the 1% quidco. So far, so good. Have taken a few updates for the unit & apps and seems to be performing well. Early days but very satisfied with it. Netflix, 4K YouTube videos all look good. XB One on game display option seemed lag free.
Note: The unit needs M6 bolts not M8 ones for wall mount as per the instruction manual!

Yes, quite a few people reporting problems but then there are also a lot who are extremely happy. Personally I would have put up with the numerous issues associated with android and youview but then that is very easy for me to say as I have a separate Youview recording box and amazon fire tv which. I don't think there is much to choose from between Sony and LG in 4k as it is rumoured that Sony use LG panels but in 1080 I think Sony have the edge.

I agree that when it comes to picture Sony often is right up there. I'd been looking to get a Sony for some time but their numerous problems with Android and (generally) higher price put me off. Very pleased with my LG :-)

I personally don't think 61% is a true reflection of this tv.it should be more considering this price. Its got a Great picture, very fast at opening apps, magic remote is brilliant. As for sound., its not bad but still get a sound bar.

Which are often utterly clueless. I've noticed many errors in their magazines or oversights or simply missing information which is important about a product. I'd take their reviews with a pinch of salt. There are proper AV sites and magazines that check and review televisions properly.

I guess most important thing is to compare in the shop and see which suits you best.
I felt the build quality of the LG was better and I also preferred the wide viewing angles of the IPS screen. Black levels were better on the a Samsung, however you can always tweak settings a little to help that.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I bought a 55" Samsung TV a couple of years ago after it was given a score of about 80% by Which (it was a "Best Buy" at this score). Assuming the folks at Which aren't a bunch of cowboys, I'll be looking for a loftier score than 61% before I splash out.

Which seems to favour Samsung (they often get closer to 80%)

I bought this tv after weeks of research. it came down to this model vs sony 49x8309. Both tvs scored 61% by Which.
In the end the priced dropped and also the webos magic remote won it. Magic remote is brilliant. Just point at the screen to move the cursor.

Wait until Relic Hunter comes back on Channel 11 which I believe is Pick channel and then tell me if your tv has motion blur or judder. It is a nice tv though but there are some programmes it just cannot process properly.
