820m is barely an upgrade over HD4400 graphics, i fail to see the point in the extra heat and power consumption

Yes absolutely dire 3D performance. But then again you'll not get a gaming laptop in 2016 for £379 unless it's refurbished and then probably not. Maybe in a few years time perhaps.

It's purely a spec seller the couple of quid to put a 820m in the system prob is less than the additional sales of gullibility.
At least we are starting to see 1080p screens in budget laptops, it won't be long before reasonable GPU's are in these too,

Anyone can recommend a laptop that can handle street fighter 5? Budget £600 max.
Not too big and 15.6" screen.

Could get a console for 1/3rd of that.

You need to bear in mind that SFV REQUIRES 60fps otherwise you are paying in slow motion.

apparently these can be hackintoshed with a new WiFi card too if you're into that.

is this powerful enough to play space invaders??

Given the colours, only at 30fps. Pong plays at 60fps in full monochrome!

Is this powerful enough to run CSGO and record it at around 60FPS?

21 Feb 16#9
A most definitely not on that one. May be able to play CS:GO at a reasonable framerate (30-40 FPS MAYBE) with minimum details but that will go down if you also want to record the game play.

Hmm ok, I have a i7 3632QM laptop with Intel HD 4000. Is it worth the upgrade?

I paid 500 for the 16GB version of this laptop from currys about 9-10 months ago, it is an excellent laptop, I edit a lot of 24 mega pixel raw files with light room 5 on this machine and it's quick, I remember reading reviews at the time of purchase saying battery life is not great... it is fine/normal, I get a few hours easy on balanced settings.
I have never (and will never) gamed on this laptop, the GPU is weak for gaming, perfect for everything else though in my experience.
I'm not going to vote on this one, I'm here to recommend the laptop to those who want to know, it is solid. I know not of the retailer and I can't be bothered looking into what exactly the reboxing arrangement means, sounds like a refurbished setup in one hand, but new in the other?

The second digit is the most important regarding ati radeon or nvidia before graphics cards thus the higher the value the more powerful it is so HD 5950 is more powerful than HD 7670 for example and GT 5650 better than GT 7250

I have this laptop just over 14 months now. Specs wise its good, FHD, 1TB HDD and 8GB RAM. Basically its future proof.
The big let down is the screen, it really is crap. When switching from dark to white it takes a few second for the backlight to catch up and thus illuminates on a delay. There is some ghosting, though I suppose not to the extent which people would notice. Boots up fast as well, only draw back is wifi is not dualband or AC, you will need to find yourself a dongle for that. I have noticed after a period of time the USB ports do tend to become a bit intermittent when recognising an attached device, in some instances it does it straight away, in others can take 3-6 mins. The gfx card isn't anything to write home about, its basic thats all.
Its a good laptop despite its flaws, I just don't think its worth £379.99 refurbished, there are other laptops out there with similar specs for the same price.

Well I am far from being an expert but mine looks brand new. It's taken over 10 hours to upgrade to Windows 10! It's on 92% now. Is that right????
