Where?
'With better battery life and performance than the Yoga 3 Pro (not to mention a lower price), the Yoga 3 14 is one of the best hybrid deals around' ?

But then there's crap like this on the review site which knocks the overall score down:
'The system is a nightmare to set up. Do I or don't I need virus protection? Who can I trust to answer that? Windows 8 is hard to understand in its own right compared with Android. After two weeks I am still using a painfully slow Windows 7 machine and an android phone rather than this thing. Why doesn't it just work out of the box?'

We bought some for business a few years ago. Lovely machines and this price is excellent.

Just to add, we bought from John Lewis and with a 3 year warranty. Might be worth seeing if they will price match.

I would personally ignore most of the reviews that say the screen isn't very bright. That is normally a Windows 'green' thing where adaptive brightness is turned on by default. You have to go into advanced power settings to turn this off as even moving the brightness slider to full doesn't work....
I am getting older now and I like my screens at full brightness.

which seems to be nothing to do with the hardware?

Reviews are a mixed bag but not particularly bad. Lack of screen brightness might be a problem. This is an old model perhaps - 5th gen i7 and Windows 8 but looks a good price for the spec and you'll be able to update to Win 10 anyway. Lenovo customer service seems to get a panning - don't they all. Didn't Lenovo get criticised for their bloatware too ?? Tempting ......

How would this compare to the surface pro 4 i5. I'm after something that can do basic office tasks via a VPN, that is leightwieght to do browsing, watch sky go, and play games like some simulation games like sim city whilst the kids monopolise the TV. I like the look of the pro 4 but not the price.
Sorry if a daft question :-)

This CPU is a generation behind the one in the SP4 and the graphics are slightly better as a result, but it is also twice the price. I got my daugther the Yoga 2 11" and it is perfect, cost £200 on ebay as new, stuck an SSD in and it flies, and she loves the touch. Laptop form factor is a bit more practical for doing homework on the floor etc.
Games performance wil be limited but should work OK with the detail turned down. My daughter plays Sims 3 no issues.

I have this in the I3 flavour. The screen is very good (1920 FHD from memory), has a backlit keyboard (often not mentioned in the specs, or certainly for the I3) and feels very compact with the black edging acting as both impact protection and to help the laptop stand up when you are using it in tent mode.
With an I7 and the SSD this would really fly.

That is a steal for this model at that price especially after cashback. The only thing lacking for some may be the battery life but at 5-7 hours that is hardly a deal breaker in such a portable and adaptable package. What is the GPU in this? Tech specs say up to Nvidia 940, but picking model only goes up to Intel HD 5500

Intel HD Graphics 5500 so not one for serious gamers. Good price for a decent spec hybrid. The 256GB Samsung SSD allied to 8GB ram and a half decent cpu will make this fly. Ok, so the screen is not the brightest out there for people who want to regularly use it outdoors but otherwise it is all positives. Great value at this price.

Do you think this can run video editing software? (not looking for 4k Star wars force awakens spectre business, but more like youtube vlog edits)
topazz
27 Jan 16#19
The hardware will cope with light video editing no problem. For serious editing the muscle provided by a dedicated gpu is preferable. The screen is the only slightly questionable component. The contrast levels are not up there with the best and its ability to display the full range of colours, while perfectly fine for the average user is not really up to semi-professional photography standards. If this isn't a deal breaker then it will do the job. Hope this helps.

Was toying with this since late last night. Glad it's oos now. The spec was fantastic but the colour put me off. I even phoned them and asked if they have any of the orange ones at this price or would they match it, no was the answer.

looks like they've dropped the price of orange to £699 - I think they were £799 yesterday ?? and the 5% ecoupon still works

So the orange one is £200 more with half the SSD capacity - you'd really have to not want white or love orange to buy !
