It can be hit and miss - I have got quite a few tech pieces this way. Some have boxes that are very tatty but the tech inside has always been either brand new, or else close to it, bar one occasion when the laptop was clearly not properly checked before leaving the store. I have heard quite a lot of horror stories but I have had one bad experience (but sorted quickly) and somewhere close to 10 good ones.

I would spend a £10-15 to get the 16GB version + 2 years warranty @ John Lewis

Did anyone experience heavy battery usage during tablet idle time?

I bought one of these for my mother for xmas, but i had a good wee shot of it.
First off it states is lollipop upgradable. But isnt they did upgrade it, made it run like crap and pulled the update. so your stuck on 4.4.4 and looks like no custom roms for this.
Otherwise tho Great build quality very happy with it. Screen is a nice ips with great colors and angles. A little bload ware which is annoying and most cant be removed.
But as for performance its a great performer. I never noticed any slow downs really unless i have like everything open.
Tried books, comics, web browsing, youtube, even the new need for speed free game. Ran it like a champ. Battery is a little let down id say were getting about 4-5 hours use out of it. But for the price and performance, and the fact it charges rather quickly
Id happily buy it again.
Just watch tho argos states it has a sim card slot which it does not. Not sure if it says that on the site anymore but it used to.They used to get loads back as misold devices. Half of them are the refurbs on ebay

how does the resolution affect things here? all apps function as normal?
have some vague idea about resolution and compatibility but not sure if android or if much lower res anyway.
i guess lower resolution should help performance anyway

Purchased one of this device and tried to Chromecast video stream to my TV via Chromecast dongle. This tasb does not work with Chrome web browser on some live TV streaming website. It is unresponsive to scroll or do anything.
It is not fit for purpose and I shocked with such a fast processor. My old dino Samsung tab 3 still works better than this Lenovo. I guess its Android 4.4 is not supporting Chrome. I thought it casmexwith Android 5.0 as described in description.
Anyway when I returned the product for a refund I had a lecture from the Argos staff claiming that I should have checked the product out myself. Argos refused to provide refund until I quoted my consumer rights and product descriptions not mastching the product.

Forgot to add that the one I ordered was a A7-20F. It seems to suggest that Argos is selling more than one model under the same generic model tab 2 A7.
I guess I was the unlucky one that got the -20f version and unable to upgrade to lollipop 5.0.
