Finally got around to trying mine today. It's not bad considering I only paid £104.50. Its not Samsung quality and certainly not worth the £179.99 price tag and I question the10.1" screen size but for the money it seems just fine. Came with kitkat which am happy with. It found my smart tv faster than anything else I have and was easy to link to it from youtube. Installed Viber, Skype and Modbro which all work fine. The screen surface seems a bit like it has a coating on it to stop greasy fingerprints. Overall I am extremely pleased with the purchase. Certainly no issues with sound or wifi as others have mentioned.

I had to clear cache/data a couple of times and reboot before dolby worked correctly.
Personally I don't bother with screen protectors any more, most screens are pretty scratch resistant, although I've not seen listed anywhere what glass this uses.
Glad you got it sorted, been very impressed with this especially at this price point.

Thanks for the info.
Done as you said and I also done the full factory reset but was still the same, done the same thing a second time and now everything is working fine including WiFi as well as the Dolby !.
Glad I did now really nice screen and great sound, now I just need one of those cases, which screen protector did you go for ?. Thanks.
I deleted my original post as don't want to put anyone off as it seems the ones that have any trouble can be sorted, hopefully Lenovo will release an update so as not to have to do it yourself.

Glad you liked the case.
I had dolby atmos problems at first, this was solved by clearing cache/data on both Dolby apps and on Google Play Music (clearing all three apps was the key for me), then reboot, stop the apps first before you clear cache/data. If that doesn't work then try clearing the cache/data of any app that plays audio, always reboot first before checking if issue is fixed.
The above was done on the latest version of lollipop.
Of course you could clear all cache/data from recovery, but I would try the above first.
You right though they have one listed with the spec of the older version
Have you asked if JL are getting more stock in Blue?

Yeah that doesn't happen with this one as its held in place by two magnets pulling on each other, just make sure it snaps into the right place, you can push on the top of the screen and it still doesn't lose the formation at the bottom that supports it, it just tips up on the back edge instead.
The trouble I've had with these kind of covers is that the back bit isn't strong enough to act as a stand. It'll act as a stand and then suddenly give way and down goes your tab. Had a similar one for my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and it was useless... Hope this one is a bit more sturdy as this tab weighs more than Tab S and the screen is bigger too...

It should be as easy as selecting "Videos" on the main menu, then "Video Add-ons" in the next menu, then "iplayer". Or hold down "Videos" on the main menu and select "Add-ons" in the sub menu that appears.
If you keep you finger held on iplayer in Video Add-ons, your get the "Add-on Settings" option, in there you can set your bitrate.
FYI - You can get "Kodi Wizards" which set up Kodi for you, then your have everything you could ever want to watch, just search youtube for "Kodi Wizard" BUT its not something you would want to use without a VPN.
Anyway have fun.

Install Kodi and then the iPlayer addon, make sure you go into the iplayer addon settings and choose the correct bitrate for you broadband speed for Catchup and Live TV streams, otherwise your get lots of buffering.
If the addon wont install from addons automatically your have to download iplayer manually and then use the install from zip in kodi's addon section.
Not tried kodi on this device myself yet but have seen it running fine on Youtube.

It does depend on what's on the screen, it mainly seems to improves scrolling of brighter web pages/apps but overall I have noticed smoother scrolling across the board, and to answer your last question, no it shouldn't effect the warranty, your not rooting your device, your just disabling a feature.
lianne21
18 Feb 16#116
Thanks, I did read the link but you have explained it better. Is the difference noticed overall when browsing or only on certain pages?
Would lenovo know you had accessed this menu though as if so it would affect any repair under warranty should you need it?
lowrider007
18 Feb 16#115
If you read the link it explains, this tablet doesn't haven't a light sensor, it uses software running in the background that is always analysing the screen content and adjust it on the fly, so for example if your scrolling on a webpage or app that has light and dark content on it the Ambient-Light Adaptive Luma (AAL)technology well adjust the screen brightness but this effects the scrolling fluidity becuase it has to use software to do that, this tablet does not have adaptive brightness that changes based on external brightness levels, it just changes brightness based on screen content, it s pretty useless feature and it does most certainly effect scrolling performance.
lianne21
18 Feb 16#114

I just bought this tablet and thought you guys might be interested in this little performance tip I found on the web, basically I noticed that the scrolling was a little 'hitchy' and it was really started to bug me, was even contemplating taking it back but after good Google I found this,
I disabled the AAL function on the hardware testing page and it has made my tablet a hell of a lot smoother ☺

According to the specs it does not have a gyroscope, only accelerometer. This should be fine for asphalt nitro but its not. Also I downloaded a tool to check which sensors are present, that confirmed it.

Install droid info and click sensors, then your know for sure.
Not sure if this will help but there's an app called Wifi Analyzer, what's good about it is it shows you what channels everyone around you is using, then you can switch to a channel with the least amount of users, or to one which doesn't have any users with strong signals nearby.
Hey sorry to mess you guys about but it just started cutting out again. I'm returning it. I've had enough Tried all the suggestions but I guess it just does not work well with 5ghz bandwidths and Asus routers. Never again.

Got mine today. First impressions, the build quality of this is not as good as the LG G PAD 8.3 I had, just doesn't have the same feel. This one had 4.4 on it, had to get it to do the update. Seems I also have a faulty volume button, can turn up the volume but not down. Thinking I need to take it back and buy a Nvidia Shield. Only got this as I'm away for two weeks from tomorrow and needed something quick, not sure how I will return it now as I can't get back to John Lewis' until I come back from hols.
EDIT: Seems this tablet also does not have a gyroscope so games that rely on that wont work, like Ashphalt. I thought it would be ok with other sensors but it's not possible to steer at all.
4Real2016 to madmal
17 Feb 16#101
Are you sure you have Ashphalt set correctly?
He plays Ashphalt fine in the video with this review at 7.30 minutes
If its faulty you have 30 days to return it for a full refund. They changed the law in October 2015. Use it for your hols. If the volume is faulty then its faulty.
The Consumer Rights Act introduces:
30 days to get a refund For the first time a specific timeframe has been created in which you can reject a faulty item and get a full refund - now 30 days
Ok, almost thought this didn't have Gyro. It does! But... has some compatibility issues with some apps (processor being Mediatek). Ashpalt was behaving insane... sometimes reverse gyro, sometimes mind of its own... If you download an app called Bubble Level (Spirit level), the gyro works fine on that one

Thanks for the reply. It seems to be a problem on 5ghz bandwidths and Asus routers I think. After some research one fix is to set the wireless to a fixed channel (1,6,11) and another fix is to just do a full factory reset (turn off the device > hold the power and volume up button until white writing shows up > recovery mode > wipe data and factory reset) ...hope this helps someone.

The person who initially posted deal for this tablet (other thread) did a lot of research and bought the one with credit card slots etc from Amazon. I still haven't made my mind up yet...
Smartguy1
16 Feb 16#90
No, you are not missing anything at all. I saw those too but it doesn't mean to say they are all the same. I bought a Nilkin case for my G4 last year and the one on Amazon had mixed reviews in that the cut out for the charge lead was not big enough. Mine wasn't but I just filed it bigger. Others had got cases which were ok. The supplier possibly has different suppliers maybe or perhaps some cases are better than others from the same source.
My main concern over this case is the exposed metal of the magnet. Bear in mind that anyone can leave a review on Amazon and whilst I do not disbelieve the reviews, I would prefer to have a hotdeals recommendation or I will just go and buy the expensive one that Argos sell but at 20% of the purchase price of the tablet, it is a little expensive.

Smartguy1
16 Feb 16#88
Ok, this was on my list until I read the one, two and three star reviews. Not many I admit. I just have a couple of questions.
Do all the holes line up ok.
What are the cut outs like where the volume switch is.
Is the magnet visible.
I am not bothered if it puts it to sleep when you fold the cover all the way back as it does that on my LG G4.

This is worrying! These were the same issues I was having with my previous one before I returned it. I'm at work at the moment but I will have a good mess around with it tonight to see if it messes up.
After the initial euphoria I'm rapidly becoming disillusioned with this tablet. It came with Android 5.0.1 installed out of the box, I have updated and factory reset as suggested in this thread. But the WiFi is flakey, the sound levels are poor despite checking cache, etc, and now I discover that BBC iPlayer freezes and that this is a known issue with this tablet! It's such a shame as the display is fantastic and the tablet is really fast and responsive, but it's just not fit for purpose. Going to give it a few more hours but it's probably going to have to go back!

So if I remove the cellophane and break the two Lenovo stickers on the box does that mean they can claim that it is not in the same condition as it arrived in. Most of us do not want to accept items that are unsealed so how can they resell it

Your allowed to unpack and handle the goods and that includes turning them on, basically your not allowed to devalue the goods but this is open to interpretation so check their cancellation policy, sometimes they might have a clause for this, unnecessary handling or similar.
It use to be Distance Selling Regulations, but now its all part of the Consumer Contracts Regulations, if you want to know more then the best guides to read are those for retailers as they tend to give examples of good practice and are easier to understand.
They cant resell items as new once opened and returned, they have to sell as open box, discounted or similar, why do you think Amazon Warehouse was invented.
Anyway, not really the place to discus this.

For those asking how this compares to the Nexus 7 2013, I bought the white one from Tesco Direct last week and can confirm it's a decent upgrade. I've found that aside from the obvious jump in screen size, the sound is louder and better (it's well worth tweaking the Dolby settings rather than relying on the defaults), it's slightly more responsive and the screen quality is roughly the same.
I bought mine mostly because I wanted a 10-inch screen for watching Sky Go and Netflix but I've barely picked up my Nexus 7 since I've had this, except for reading as I prefer a smaller and lighter screen for reading Kindle books. I'm delighted with this tablet; it's an absolute bargain for the price.

I see your point, but maybe they are cleverer than you think. Allow for operating system and the fact that a 64gb doesn't actually hold 64gb perhaps treble storage is nearer the truth! LOL! Seems a good deal if I needed!!!

No but only a small percentage of android devices in current use have the latest version. Good piece of kit, I wouldn't let that put you off

Exactly.
I've been looking at this tablet for some time, john lewis have been out of stock for a while, these have just arrived so I would imagine they will come with lollipop installed.
Nice to see JL finally dropped the price.

Extra Storage
The Tab 2 A10 comes with 16GB of storage built in. But if that’s not enough, it also features a microSD card slot, so you can treble your storage space with cards of up to 64GB.
Now my maths may not be the best, but I can spot their mistake here!!

Bought one Wednesday but had to return mine to Tesco yesterday as lollipop ruined it. I'd strongly advise reading the Lenovo forum documenting the numerous problems with this. There are some great tabs coming out at the yearly Barcelona event next week so I'm waiting for something new.

Personally I don't bother with screen protectors any more, most screens are pretty scratch resistant, although I've not seen listed anywhere what glass this uses.
Glad you got it sorted, been very impressed with this especially at this price point.
Just to show you its working here

Not had any wifi issues myself at all, but I always have my wireless network limited to one group though in my case g only.
I have bought two different cases following recommendations on here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00U8NIQ2I?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00
and
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B018QL3FO2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
I prefer the second one - seems more stable and there is no exposed metal on the flap.

You right though they have one listed with the spec of the older version
Have you asked if JL are getting more stock in Blue?
Tesco also still have them.

If the addon wont install from addons automatically your have to download iplayer manually and then use the install from zip in kodi's addon section.
You can grab version 2.0.1 of iplayer from HERE
Not tried kodi on this device myself yet but have seen it running fine on Youtube.
On xda where you linked to he says it only requires a reboot?
Nice find BTW
It can only be done on lolly I think so if you haven't updated the tab I don't think it can be switched off in kit Kat.
I really recommend everyone with this tablet does what lowrider has suggested (see above) it really makes a big difference to that jerkyness. Its very simple to do, takes 2 minutes. If anyone is a bit worried about doing it or wants a step by step guide feel free to ask
Would lenovo know you had accessed this menu though as if so it would affect any repair under warranty should you need it?
What does hitchy mean anyway?

Using this app,

I disabled the AAL function on the hardware testing page and it has made my tablet a hell of a lot smoother ☺

Not sure if this will help but there's an app called Wifi Analyzer, what's good about it is it shows you what channels everyone around you is using, then you can switch to a channel with the least amount of users, or to one which doesn't have any users with strong signals nearby.

EDIT: Seems this tablet also does not have a gyroscope so games that rely on that wont work, like Ashphalt. I thought it would be ok with other sensors but it's not possible to steer at all.
He plays Ashphalt fine in the video with this review at 7.30 minutes

If its faulty you have 30 days to return it for a full refund. They changed the law in October 2015. Use it for your hols. If the volume is faulty then its faulty.
The Consumer Rights Act introduces:
30 days to get a refund For the first time a specific timeframe has been created in which you can reject a faulty item and get a full refund - now 30 days
http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/consumer-rights-act
Edit : Just checked again... seems the steering is reversed. Hmmm

I've bit the bullet now and ordered one from JL so I guess I'll soon find out for myself, hope its ok as its not for me.
Do all the holes line up ok.
What are the cut outs like where the volume switch is.
Is the magnet visible.
I am not bothered if it puts it to sleep when you fold the cover all the way back as it does that on my LG G4.
I personally never use DHCP.

So if I remove the cellophane and break the two Lenovo stickers on the box does that mean they can claim that it is not in the same condition as it arrived in. Most of us do not want to accept items that are unsealed so how can they resell it
It use to be Distance Selling Regulations, but now its all part of the Consumer Contracts Regulations, if you want to know more then the best guides to read are those for retailers as they tend to give examples of good practice and are easier to understand.
They cant resell items as new once opened and returned, they have to sell as open box, discounted or similar, why do you think Amazon Warehouse was invented.
Anyway, not really the place to discus this.
JL are very good for returns, you can do it all online, in any case if you order anything online you have a 14 day cancellation period by law, as long as its in the same condition as it arrived in they have to give a full refund.
Maybe there was something wrong with your nexus 7, my 2012 nexus 7 runs lollipop just fine.
Have now checked it out and definately on Android 5.0.1, and tablet manufacture date is 25/11/2015. Apparently there is an android update of over 300MB awaiting download !
I watched about 4-5 hours of vids from vessel and youtube and haven't experienced a drop.
As I mentioned earlier JL were out of stock and only received new stock yesterday so I doubt they will be running kitkat?
We have android tablet and phone and both work fine as we had them for a while.
Just seems to be Lenovo.
But will have a look, thank you
The problems are caused when people do a major version update then expect to continue without clearing caches etc is just stupid, the update process SHOULD run a backup, install the update, do a factory reset, clear cache then restore user data if they did that there'd be no problems
Just saying your connection issues might not be the fault of the tablet, but might be your router.
Also, my dad is very happy with his tablet, very fast and does everything he needs (Facebook, YouTube, catchup tv, Internet).
Any feedback greatly appreciated
