Only they aren't slow at all...bought several for family members and these are perfectly capable little Android tablets. Ideal for the kids over Windows I think due to the large amount of kid friendly games in the Play store.Good tablets "Unless you absolutely must have Windows"
These tablets will update to 4.4.2 Kitkat as well..

agreed.. they are very capable and no sluggishness at all. I would always prefer android over Windows for a tablet especially if for kids.

Just a quick question for you Jon: If you'd actively sat down and tried to type out the most impotent, petulant and immature post you possibly could have, how would it have looked any different to what you actually wrote?

Yawn morning captain bandwagon! fyi I'm typing on a laptop but well done for jumping in the thread. it's ok though I am used to working with people such as yourself.

Oh no! my grammar was bad?? well how will I actually sleep tonight? My apologies, I type rather fast as such this tends to lead to grammatical errors. I only wish I had more free time to spend so long on forums making sure every paragraph I write is punctually correct.

The grammar in your paragraph was so bad I actually struggled to make sense of it. If you're posting so people will take notice of your opinions, this might be something you want to work on.
Yes it's refurbished but still 12mths warranty as you'f get on a new one. I've bought loads of these refurbs and all have been just like new.
it's £5 more on eBay store but currently 10% discount offer so when added to basket it works out the same price

Fire Tablet is not Android, just Amazon's own apps. Avoid
taras to cullies
31 Jan 16#35
Amazon's Fire os, is a forked version of android, with its own set of problems and apps..
Some android apps can be sideloaded onto the fire tablets.
Also just because some tablets come with 4.x doesn't mean it can't be upgraded to 5.x or 6!

i bought the tab2 last week for £59 - why do people say the 1st version is better. anyway its not for me, for a 6 year old to play minecraft and works very well on that

This also has GPS unlike the fire. I bought one 2nd hand recently and I'm very happy with it, not slow in anyway at all.

My daughter has the wife's 1st gen iPad mini and Its so slow, there's no way I'm spending hundreds on an updated mini on a 4 year old so I'm thinking of going the android tablet route.
Any recommendations on an 8 inch android tablet.
Even better if I can route it and put stock android on there

We were in the same situation. We had a 1st gen iPad mini that had become far too slow. We first got the Linx 8 but it was very slow, laggy and the screen was too sensitive. I have just got this for my 5 year old - there isn't much difference in screen size, only a bit smaller. Plus much quicker, responsive and a better choice of apps. If you can get hold of one these I'd go for it.

It's in stock in 2 branches in Harrogate, in Ripon and in York - so available to anyone in North Yorkshire. I picked 2 up yesterday for my kids. Much better than the Linx 8 tablets I got from Sainsburys a couple of weeks ago. Better choice of apps and better screen quality.

These upgrade to 5.0.1 bought one before Xmas for the Youngest absolutely brilliant tablet pees all over the HP it replaced.
If you buy one upgrade the is BEFORE you set it up with Google account then factory reset & clear the cache once you have done that then set it up & install your account & apps.
That way you'll not have any problems with it.
Imho I don't think you'll buy a better Android tablet for under £50 I'm really impressed with it for the money, build quality is good, screen is nice too. Look it's no ipad, surface 3 etc but it is an exceptionally good value tablet running an up to date android version

To be honest with 7in Windows tabs around for less than this, I can't see the point of getting one of these fairly old tech android tablets, unless you absolutely must have have android. This will be quite a slow experience

I've got one of these.. very old tech.. but to be honest its worth the 50 quid as you cant buy a better 7" tablet for that much from a proper uk supplier.
i would however recommend that you spend tthe extra and get the lenovo s8-50. around 80-100 from argos. amazing value. and choices of cases and screen protectors from auction sites.
