There was a recent offer where you 'just add fuel' so insurance/road tax/service etc was included.

So it was a legitimate question.

redadmiral posted this as a Lease Deal it is still there at the top of the page so all your arguments are defunct and irrelevant. Just because I have the time to follow the deal thread does not make me wrong and anybody that thinks it does needs to think again.

I'd ignore them. They have no idea what they're on about when it comes to leasing. The fact that he thinks a PCP is a lease deal is laughable, so if they're incorrect on that front then they're more thank likely incorrect on other points.

This deal has always been advertised as a personal contract hire, which in essence is a personal lease. The link has always been the same and it certainly doesn't take you to a different deal.

Fleet Prices have misadvertised this as a business contract hire.

Maybe next time you try to make somebody feel stupid you'll click the actual link first and actually see what the deal is. You must have a lot of time on your hands to read 6 pages of comments on a deal you're not interested in

The header on this page definitely state Lease Deal which is for business people only that have a VAT account or have an arrangement with their employer as a company car, as xerocs posted earlier. PCP is where a private individual leases a car and pays VAT on the deal whereas on a lease deal the VAT can be reclaimed.
Unfortunately when you click on get the deal it directs you to a completely different deal to this, I had not previously clicked on that as I was not interested only the comments that go along with this sort of deal.

I dont understand the difference either. Care to enlighten me?

As per the description on the link - "Personal Contract Hire, sometimes referred to as an Operating Lease, is a long term rental agreement. Contracts typically range from 12 to 60 months and are tailored to the personal user."
MisShel
1 Feb 16 #110
It clearly stated Personal Contact Hire on their website. I did actually look up what this meant as I am new to this!!! This is what I found on practically every explanation....
A GUIDE TO PERSONAL CONTRACT HIRE
Personal Contract Hire (PCH) involves leasing a car for an agreed period of time at a fixed monthly cost. For private individuals that means cost-effective, flexible motoring which is cheaper than buying a car. If you're only looking for short term car hire we're able to help with that too.

All servicing and maintenance can be provided – giving you peace-of-mind that everything is running smoothly with no unpredictable costs. At the end of your term, you can simply return your vehicle or replace it with another one. The vehicle should be returned to the leasing company in a condition that meets the BVRLA ‘Fair wear and tear’ guidelines, otherwise charges may be incurred.

So come on then, as you clearly know what you're talking about, explain the difference for all us dim wits!!!

After enquiringly about this deal it turns out it's not actually a personal contract hire, they can only honour those prices for businesses. They provided a quote for a personal lease and it was substantially more and for 3 years not 2. Seems they are misrepresenting the deal.

Can anybody explain the (what I believe to be bizarre) qualification on this offer that has been communicated to me via e-mail? I was told, after making enquiries on this deal, that I would need to provide a letter from my employer explaining I receive a mileage allowance, a pay slip showing mileage allowance, or proof of self-employment/directorship. After asking why they needed such documents for a car obtained on a personal hire basis, I was told this was simply a requirement of the deal.

Sounds nonsense to me?

Cows release about 100kg of methane a year, equal to 2.3t of carbon dioxide in potency.
So buy a C1, and kill 3 cows and you've reduced your carbon footprint.

And when our future generations are living in squalor and and famine, Just remember that 'Independence' you all blindly bought into, Its an inconvenient truth, and i know i am weird i seem to be the only one who cares that a new car creates more of a carbon footprint, in its 'creation' than it ever does in its daily use driven on the road!, Thats what you dont get, New cars are even worse for the environment, would have been better to re-engineer all the old ones rather than melt down and re-make weakening the metal anyway and freshly pumping out all that co2 again!!.

The carbon footprint of making a car is immensely complex. Ores have to be dug out of the ground and the metals extracted. These have to be turned into parts. Other components have to be brought together: rubber tyres, plastic dashboards, paint, and so on. All of this involves transporting things around the world. The whole lot then has to be assembled, and every stage in the process requires energy. The companies that make cars have offices and other infrastructure with their own carbon footprints, which we need to somehow allocate proportionately to the cars that are made.

In other words, even more than with most items, the manufacture of a car causes ripples that extend throughout the economy.

The carbon footprint of a new car:
6 tonnes CO2e: Citroen C1, basic spec
17 tonnes CO2e: Ford Mondeo, medium spec
35 tonnes CO2e: Land Rover Discovery, top of the range

The government scrappage scheme to get all the old cars off the road (Most of them perfectly fine, all the parts are interchangeable! almost any car can be fixed), was actually 'tax payers' money being just given away towards a new generation of car production and co2 emissions so in other words the government paid for most of that pollution to go up onto the atmosphere on the big car company's behalf!

And now here you all are a decade later brainwashed sheep obediently buying into the plan, signing your contracts, all buying cars that you don't ever even 'own' anymore, Madness! and im weird you say?

Btw here is a handy Car carbon footprint calculator try to get a low footprint one like the one in this deal! ;-)

Lol, 'poverty spec'. Hope you enjoyed subsidising all those who went without heated seats / no need to twiddle a dial to make it cold / headlights that annoy other drives / whatever else you got  Base specs have gotten pretty good nowadays.

Personally, I'd rather eat my own ear off than pay anywhere near £18 grand for a French car, the only plus point is the concrete residuals - as in, they drop like they are made of concrete  And the only reason I'm driving a 4 year old renault megane diesel estate I paid £4500 for!

You're right, closest my cursory glance found was £1600 p/a, though I think there were some cheaper last year. This one still represents poor value comparatively imo, both against lease deals for more valuable cars and DEFINITELY against making a smart second hand choice, which is the best option.

I wouldn't want one, but there were quite a few good leasing deals on it over the last year around the same outlay, and it's a class up - hell, 3 classes up according to Citroen themselves

Though, as you bring it up, yes, anyone who really cares about a good deal would get second hand car, but it doesn't need to be that old. Newest I've bought was a 10 month old 7000 mile skoda octavia for £10k back in 2008. Still going strong on 100k miles (though not in my hands anymore) and still worth £4k, do the maths on that as a yearly outlay (maintenance costs about £1900 total in that time inc cambelt, 4 brake disks and pads, and 5 dealer services)

Sounds like the going rate, my daughters (now 20 and 23) both paid just over a grand for their first year's insurance, on a Honda Civic and Micra 1.0 respectively, aged 19. There's no way I'd let a new driver near a lease/PCH/whatever car, minor (hopefully) dings are pretty much inevitable and would be expensive when handing the car back.

Adding an experienced driver as a named driver can lower the premium a bit.

Well it is a 40min drive to work or 4 buses and 22min walk. 2hrs 29min. I'd have to get the first bus at 5.10am and would not get home until until 8pm. This is £12.40 per day. I could save a bit of time and go 3 buses and the train but the cost is twice as much. So adding between 50%-70% onto my day.

Besides if I wanted to save all my money I would cycle the 33 miles each way to work as it would be quicker than public transport. But cycling is dangerous, I've only been knocked off once, sadly it was by a bus.

£516, 4 weekly x 12 here. Rather buy my car outright, pay year insurance and have fuel for a month, throw double the £43 a month at fuel and maintenance fund account, think englanders forget the temp the further north you go gets colder at nights and winter outside summer, we dont all have tube, tram or bus stops/stations with heat! For some its a safety issue, for some health conditions, for others its a means to work.

Had Maggie not given permission to sell local authority buses off, I have two local bus companies (owned big 2 big companoes)and the service is terrible, upto 3 buses to go two miles east a mile and north to the edge of the city, only £6-10 return (£1.50 short hop) or a £3.70 day ticket...(and thats the cheaper of the two) either way 3 miles way = £1.20+ per mile! I can claim mileage allowance much more than 50% cheaper from Her Maj Revenues and Custom than the bus for a 10 minute trip which with bus connections can take upto and over 2 hours, more on a Sat or upto 2 and a half hours + on a Sunday!!

Sure petrol and insurance cost more than a daily £3.70 day ticket, but claim 45p a mile back from work and well your quids in, no buses, cold, waiting, connections or missed connections because one bus was late.

Our carbon footprint could be reduced easy, if public transport was public run...outside London who in the UK has great city wide one ticket transport ?

This is a great deal, for me 1.2 is a minimum for motorway use. Even considering a Dacia in summer and buying few thousand miles ex demo at reduced cost, because thats much cheaper in fuel than the £17 day return to go to the next major city... 25p per mile!!

I think most lease companies follow an industry standard set by BVRLA for fair wear and tear. Last year when we leased an Audi (business/company lease) we were given this link for their guide on fair wear and tear:

http://www.gecapital.co.uk/en/docs/BVRLA_FWT_GECapital.pdf

Yes. Of course it is! Why wouldn't it be? I've just ordered a Ferrari for my 17 year old learner daughter and that also comes with free insurance! :stuck_out_tongue:

I've got this car the flair edition, and it's brilliant. Not much room so not a family car but for nipping to work and to the shops with my little on its brilliant. Fits the pram nicely in the boot and lots of room for my little one in the back (but not for adults) £0 road tax, fuel up with £20 and it lasts for ages. Mine is 5 door I think 3 door would be too much of a struggle for anyone trying to get a little on in the back. Reversing camera is brilliant! Great little car

I've leased the 1 litre flair, great little town/city runaround and is more than comfortable on motorways. Can't go wrong for the price either, brilliant for 1st time drivers.

Same here, excellent little car. First time I've leased. Wouldn't want to own one of these, the quality isn't quite right but brilliant for a year or two at these prices. Citroen (who deliver) were excellent.

The Mrs is onto her second lease both been c1, when she handed first back in there was a couple of chips, a tiny mark on seat and a small 5p size mark/dent in car. None were brought up although she had to buy 2 new tyres that were still legal but under what they said they needed to be. They were almost illegal to be fair as they were on for 2 years.

Got the missus the C1 Flair and its a cracking wee town car. If you don't do as much miles as this and can get away with 5,000 a year, I'd recommend the Flair over the Feel. 1.2 litre, alloys, upgraded cabin etc.

Looks wrong to me...

initial payment: £692.08
23 monthly p[ayments of £76.90 = £1768.70
Processing fee : £178.80

I make that a grand total of £2639.58 (not £2563.00 indicated in title)

There was a recent offer where you 'just add fuel' so insurance/road tax/service etc was included.

So it was a legitimate question.

Under £4 a day for a decent town car. Seems amazing value for money.
