I bet this wouldn't have a fast enough write speed for DSLR or GoPro usage, at least not at full quality settings (RAW and ProTune respectively). This is going on past experience of buying cheap cards with a claimed high speed read and write or even "UHS-1".

For storing music, films, TV and *ahem* "other" content for playback on a phone or tablet this would do the trick nicely.

Those asking about Linx support.

It's known Samsung 128GB works it's in the list on a UK fan forum but other brands are unconfirmed. I would think this one would work just fine but I'd say it might be better to go with 2 64GB cards and store them in a labelled wallet.

MyMemory still have the UlitmaPro card in stock for 2p more and that is supposed to be a more expensive card with a claimed up to 25MB/s write speed while this card claims no more than 10MB/s from being class 10.

Samsung, Sandisk and Lexar (although 128 is coming out soon) only do 64gb in class 3, if at all.

Only Kingston do class 3 in 128gb. (Which is why I didn't list them) And the card costs 3 times as much as Integral's.

You are out of touch. Lexar, Samsung, and Kingston have 128GB Micro SDXC grade 3 cards guaranteed to write continuously (for 4k video) at more than 30MB/s. The Lexar benchmarks around 50MB/s and the other 2 in the 80 and 90's. Integral also have a U3 card claiming 90MB/s write speeds but only up to 64GB.

25MB/s isn't that special but better than just stating class 10.

Many 'class 10' cards write faster than 10MB/s. Being 'class 10' just means it should have a write speed faster than a minimum of 10MB/s. A card could write at 50MB/s and still have 'class 10' printed on it.

Was holding out for the next Samsung Evo plus deal - planning to whack one in my Surface Pro 4 for some extra storage. Is it worth waiting or will this be good enough?

I agree with you completely.

But doing what you did with FAT32 will decrease read/write speeds considerably once you start going over 32GB of used space as simply said the format isn't designed to work with >32GB cards, of course it still works and what is the difference in real life is questionable and irrelevant as it is obviously fast enough for your use in the hudl. This is why I said that sdhc phones don't "fully support" SDXC cards.

Also I believe integral is a reasonable memory company, have had a couple of usb's from them and ram back in a while (no Sd cards though) and everything was reasonably close to advertised speeds.

I suppose if you are not in a rush, the sandisk 128GB one has been roughly this price a couple of times so it might be worth waiting for it if you want something for dslr's, that one is very good I am using one, but also I don't see the point for a smartphone use as there you realistically don't need such high speeds.

This would be great with a nifty drive or similar on Mac..

Some devices will support cards bigger than 32GB but won't work if they are exFAT formatted. For example my Hudl2 has a 64GB card in it, but I had to format it with FAT32 first as it couldn't cope with the exFAT file system the card was pre-formatted with. There's no definite answer. Best to use Google and see if anyone else has been a guinea pig!

That's not true.....I have an old Samsung Galaxy S2 thats only supposed to support up to 32GB cards but it has an SDXC 64GB Card in it......

.....ALSO my DrivePro 200 says it only supports up to 32GB but i have a SDXC 128GB in it working fine....but as i said above it needs formatted to FAT32 using the Tool i posted above.

Working in my Note 4 (bought it last time it was posted), but as some one has already stated, the read/write speeds fluctuate and perform no where near to what is advertised. Hope that helps.

There is no definite answer, but in most cases they do indeed work with smartphones regardless of the advertised max capacity. I think they simply never tested it with larger cards or something. (As they were far less common then).

The thing you SHOULD watch out for is SDXC support. There are three types of SD cards:
SD (up to 2GB, FAT16 format)
SDHC (up to 32GB, FAT32 format)
SDXC (up to 2TB, exFAT format)

This is backwards compatible so any smartphone capable of reading sdxc will be able to read SD and SDHC but not the other way around.

So you need to check if your phone supports SDXC cards before buying this and if it does it will 99.99% work with up to 2TB cards.

For example galaxy s5 DOES support sdxc cards.

I bought a SanDisk ultra UHS-1 one with the same quoted (read) speed and it yoyos along between 20 and 30 MBs while it's writing. Using a USB3 Card writer.

Good point about media storage for SLRs. It's safer to go with multiple cards of a medium capacity. Your 128GB card holds a whole lotta memories all of which can disappear in one fell swoop.

Yea for the MS Surface you're right, it might be worth it for media storage...... Not sure I'd trust 120GB+ of DSLR media to a single card though. Horses for courses though....
