I really liked Gravity especially in 3D, one of a handful of films that's better in 3D. Seems a lot of people really don't like Gravity though. Ah well I can hear Einstein saying in the style of a mid 1980's Yellow Pages ad "I were right about that Gravity"
Im with you, really enjoyed it in 3d unlike others ive seen, namely pirates of Caribbean and spiderman. Gravity rocks in 3d

Plenty of tickets left at Cineworld Sheffield. We have one of the biggest screens and with digital laser imax it's the only way to experience these films. It also £2.70 with an unlimited card!!

Great deal. Shame they're only in Crawley, Milton Keynes or Sheffield!

I thought it was outstanding. Fair enough only about half the size of the biggest Imax screens but still much bigger than a regular one. I sat half way up and the screen filled my complete vision. Sound is the best I've heard yet.
Digital will never beat film at any size but there's only one way cinemas are going and that's all digital in future.

Have Cineworld even got any decent sized Imax screens? The one in Nottingham is quite small :disappointed:

The majority of Cineworld IMAX's are tiny and the incorrect aspect ratio (meaning that they cannot correctly show footage shot on IMAX cameras). However the Glasgow Science Centre (Cineworld has a lease) is a true IMAX but has unfortunately switched to digital projection. The best IMAX's to visit are probably BFI London (Odeon) - if you can catch a 15/70 presentation or the Science Museum in London (note - not Cineworld), which only shows 15/70 presentations. Some of the digital laser IMAX's sound good but they are quite small. If you are interested then the only Cineworld Digital Laser is Sheffield.

Sheffields laser imax the only digital one worth visiting.

13 Feb 16#62
I'm really interested in seeing a digital laser presentation. But the Sheffield IMAX is tiny and not even the correct aspect ratio (closer to 16:9). The only other DL IMAX is Empire Leicester Square and is only marginally bigger. A friend of mine has seen digital laser and says the picture quality is vibrant but claims that 15/70 traditional IMAX protection is better. But I do really like the sound of digital laser and can't wait to see it.

Well I've bought an Unlimited ticket for £2.70, so either they drop the price or I'm getting my own special discount!

As far as 3D goes, it's fine. I hate it too normally but after about two minutes I tuned it out and didn't notice for the rest of the film.
On the flip side, it's phenomenal in IMAX. Well worth seeing it for the audio alone.

Seen Jurassic Park & not The Martian, decided to go for something i'd seen before as IMAX will be a new thing for me. Great price to trial it for a film I enjoy, not that I plan on paying full price for IMAX any time soon, 2d with Meerkat Movies all the way!

Fab deal. They should do more days like this. Booked Gravity as it was the only one in Imax I hadn't seen. If you're one the fence about Fury Road, yeah it's one long car chase but the audio / visuals in Imax make it worthwhile. If you end up hating it it's only a few quid. Better than usual Imax prices :-)

No IMAX Cineworlds in Kent and even the O2 Cineworld hasn't got an IMAX screen so it would mean trekking round the M25 to Crawley which probably isn't worth it given I've seen all 4 films already!

That and the Crawley IMAX isn't even the correct screen size (it's smaller than the standard IMAX dimensions).

I would urge people to watch these at a true IMAX theatre and not one of the "fake" ones. In Scotland, the only true IMAX is Glasgow Science Centre. But even that no longer screens in 15/70mm. In England, you guys have a little more choice. Heat op.

For an Imax film fest I think they could have chosen films that showcase the format better, for me Avatar was by far the most visually impressive, the Dark Knight Rises also had some amazing scenes. Everything else in Imax is usually good but not many have that 'Wow!' factor.
I got tickets for The Martian which I was planning on watching at home soon anyway so big thanks aing69 OP

I saw Star Wars The Force Awakens in Imax 3D, no 2D showing sadly, but it was still worth it, I saw it in the new Imax cinema in Bromborough North Wales, I soon forgot about the 3D and enjoyed the film. I then saw the film again in 2D in Boongate, Peterborough, and maybe it was the film, but I really didn't like it much on the second showing. Not sure that was a cool story but it's true
