This is great news for guys like me. Some months I never use it, then I binge it all on a weekender away and don't have enough. One month max rollover, and rollover is used up first.

500 minutes, 1GB 4G data, 5000 texts - £7 a month 30 day rolling contract

500 minutes, 2GB 4G data, 5000 texts - £9 a month 30 day rolling contract

1000 minutes, 4GB 4G data, 5000 texts - £14 a month 30 day rolling contract

FAQ's

Data Rollover

How does Data Rollover work?

Data Rollover is really straightforward. Any data you don’t use is added onto your normal allowance for the next month.

Your Rollover data will be used first, and then your normal monthly data allowance will be used.

If you don’t use all your Rollover data, it expires at the end of the month.

How much data can I rollover?

If your plan includes Data Rollover, we’ll let you roll over ALL your unused data at the end of each month. There’s no maximum limit.

How long does my rolled over data last?

Your rolled over data will last a month. If you don’t use up all your Rollover data, it expires at the end of each month.

How much does the Data Rollover service cost?

If Data Rollover is included in your plan, consider it a free service. We won’t charge you anything for it.

What action do I need to take to roll my data over?

You don’t need to do anything. It all happens automatically, and you’ll be able to view your Rollover info at all times with the iD app.

What plans does Data Rollover apply to?

iD Data Rollover has been added to all 12 and 24-month GoTo plans.

Why do I need Data Rollover?

If your phone use differs greatly from month to month, you’ll find Data Rollover really useful.

For example, if you travel overseas on regular work trips, you’ll probably save data when you’re abroad, and use more when you return home.

Which of my allowances rollover?

Your data allowances will rollover, if eligible.

How will I know how much I have rolled over?

Go to MyAllowances, and click MyData to see how much you've rolled over. We add this amount to your standard UK allowances, giving you a new total amount. You'll then be able to see this information broken down between standard allowances, rollover and add-ons, to help you understand how your allowances are made up.

How will I know if I have any roll over left?

Go to MyAllowances, then MyData and scroll down the screen to Rollover. You'll see a breakdown of your rollover amount. You'll only see rollover amounts from previous amounts if you're still eligible to use it. If so, it'll be included in your new standard amount for this month.

Not strictly true.
Virtual Networks, like iD, Tesco Mobile, etc. are given a lower priority on the network - and are more likely to be bandwidth throttled.
Basically, you're a lower-class network citizen...

Worth considering if you're in a busy area (like London) as although the signal might be the same, you'll probably be faster on Three.

Everyone has to remember that people who have bad experiences are more likely to complain and people who have good experiences rarely pipe up. That makes a service seem worse than it actually is. Vodafone, for instance, are generally very reliable but they have been getting loads of bad press recently for their terrible billing system.

I'm an iD user. It was quick to set up, they charge me £10 a month, I get loads of data for a cheap price and their tariff management app is slick and easy to use. No, I've not been on the phone to them yet, but I haven't needed to be.

This is a great deal and if you sign up with them you'll probably think it's a great deal, too.

I'm currently a customer of Three and paying £6.90 for what I could get from iD for a fiver and feeling a little ripped off.

iD runs on Three so the network should be identical. Although if you have a problem you'd have to deal with Carphone so...

I think you have to be careful with iD. Im with them and sat on the phone for almost an hour trying to get through to customer services the other day. Also you cant change or upgrade your contract with them without cancelling your current one first, and i keep getting messages saying ive used 80% of my data allowance yet I'm no where near that (I'd used 1.75gb out of 4gb). I'm sure these may be a couple of minor kinks they are still working out considering they are still new, but honestly I do wish I hadnt switched in the first place.

I can't tell you whether ID is prioritised below "native" three customers but I can tell you that I've had no issues with data speed in the UK (40Mbps last test I did) and also had no issues with roaming abroad, except they appear to temporarily disconnect you if you burst too much data in a short period (I can't find any mention of this anywhere).

I've only contacted their customer service once. I couldn't get the phone pin to work when setting up the account after trying 5 or 6 times with various new codes. Called in expecting a TalkTalk like horrorfest, but got a really efficient and friendly South African guy (sounded like the dude in District 9 so instantly took a liking to him). Put on hold for a min then he gave sent me a new code and waited until I finished and verified the account.

I think with customer service it depends on your luck who you get when they pick up. I don't think any network has rave customer service reviews. Look online and you'll see people whining about every company.

Who actually goes online and signs up to a forum just to say how great their customer service rep was at HSBC or wherever. But if you're p'eed off and need to vent, you definitely will.

12 Feb 16 #34
I'm very glad to hear it.
But it does sound as like you just haven't been on whilst the network is busy.

I used to work for Carphone Warehouse, so know this all first-hand.
And it's not only O2. Vodafone do the same with TalkMobile too (another Carphone network).

I'm not saying it'll be all the time! As if there's enough bandwidth for everyone, it'll be fine!

Will be interesting how things pan out with Three taking over O2. Should all be advantageous. I just hope they keep all the 4G frequencies and don't try to consolidate all the network towers like EE did, making the network rubbish (with twice the customers).

Bought a £20 rolling data contract in December and cancelled right after activated the sim. They charge me for the second month £20+£16 for crossing my allowances. I called their customer service (South Africa?) twice after 30 minutes awaiting on the line, none of the staff admitted they have overcharged me. When I asked them to pass to a manager they cut the line. The worst customer service I have ever dealt with! Finally I have emailed them and they agreed to refund my line rental. I will never buy any of their line rental.

ID is ****. I've been with the for a month and the network in inner city Leicester is ****. It erratically jumps between 0 and 4 bars before my very eyes all day every day. Sometimes the signal completely goes so I have to restart my phone. My plan is 4G and all I get is 3G?! (IP6s+, yes 4G is enabled in settings). Only with them because I don't know anything better for the £12.50 I pay for 6GB of slow ass data.

12 Feb 16 #40
Be very careful with iD if my experience is anything to go by. Ordered a £7.50 sim on 1/1/16 expecting it to renew on 1/2/16 (get paid monthly so wanted the payment to always be 1st of month to ensure funds). Oh no..They then proceeded to take a further £7.50 on 20/1/16. Phoned CS to ask why and was told that a payment is taken 14-20 days after your renewal date every month. Explained I had now paid twice in the space of 20 days and asked them to point to this info on their website. The CS advisor looked for a few minutes and then admitted it wasn't there. I cancelled on the spot, came of the phone and then cancelled my DD with them. Thankfully i did as they then tried to take ANOTHER payment on 2/2/16. If thinking of joining I'd give it a long consideration.
ecosse87 to smiler2205
12 Feb 16 #47
You realise they didn't take a £7.50 when you ordered. It's a direct debit, either they charge more for the first payment or (as it was in this case) take a first payment later than normal then a second on the normal day.
It's a pity customer services didn't explain this properly but that is perfectly normal and fair.

After reading all the comments it seems this network is ideal for students who need to get taste of real world where they have to call several times and deal with customer service and get such experiences however for all other working class folks its not worth the hassle as you'll have headaches chasing them everyday. This network is a joke. I moved to ID after 2 years with o2 and it's utterly shocking. My phone is on 'emergency calls only' most of the time, I barely have 1 or 2 bars of signal. When I do finally get somewhere it says 4g, it isn't the same 4g that I had on o2. I've been to Coventry, London, Manchester etc in the past few months I've been on ID and it's the same everywhere. Going to call them tomorrow to cancel and move to a more established network.

Struggled to get data to work overseas tho,may be user error so will switch aims around next holiday. (dual Sim phone)

Yes the technical name for this is MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator)

Actually looking at that list, Pebble mobile seems interesting if you want possibly absolute best coverage due to it being able to use any of the main networks.

ecosse87, my bank account begs to differ from what you say. I was charged £7.50 on the day I ordered (1/1/16), charged a further £7.50 19 days later (20/1/16) and then they attempted, unsuccessfully, to take another £7.50 at the start of February (2/2/16). The CS told me that they take the payment 14-20 days AFTER the renewal date each and every month of your contract. They are a complete joke and their coverage/signal in Wishaw, N.Lanarkshire is shocking. I would've been better off opening my window and shouting into the wind. The recipient would have had a much better chance of catching what I was trying to say :D:D

I would avoid this shower of **** at all costs, there customer service is the worst I have ever had to deal with, they will lie to you or just hang up on you if they don't want to deal with anything.:disappointed: I signed up to one of their "shock proof" £15 a month plans last year, at the end of the month they charged me an extra £49 for going over my limit which I was told I couldn't do so I cancelled there and then paid for the "service" I had used and then cancelled my DD. Fast forward to January this year and I get a letter of them saying that because I have ignored all other letters they have sent me (which I haven't received) they are referring me to a debt collection agency because they didn't actually cancel my account and have been charging me £15 a month for a service I thought was cancelled. Try to get through to customer services is a joke, I have waited a maximum of 45 minutes on hold listening to there crappy music. I have emailed customer services and was promised a reply within 48 hours, that was a week past Monday. I am at a loss what to do next so my advice is avoid unless you are some type of masochist(_;)

There will be no difference in signal. I never said there would be!
It'll be the bandwidth for data you receive and priority of calls, if the cell towers in your area get busy.

There are some network advantages to being on Three directly too (which I don't think pass down to iD) such as VoiceHD (voice over 4G instead of the old 2G) and DC-HSDPA & 4G LTE-A (both use two cell towers to double up your bandwidth).

Honestly. I'd rather poke my own eyes out with a spoon than use ID Mobile again. And I have already low expectations of customer service provided by mobile companies.

I ignored all the warnings I was given. Even the direct messages from total strangers on Facebook when I posted on their page urging me to cancel. Just how crap do you have to be that (ex) customers stalk your FB page and warn potential customers off!?!?!

Anyway. I lasted 6 weeks before the combination of the number of errors plus the fact I often couldn't use my data in an area where my old 3 SIM would work fine made me rage quit.

Thankfully I was not tied to an annual contract.

Here's how giffgaff (owned by Telefonica UK but operated as an MVNO) expains how its data performance is limited in comparison to an MNO -

"The key difference here is that Three is a Mobile Network Operator (MNO) but giffgaff is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO). In this scenario the key difference is that Three can shove as much data through at a mast level, congestion in London won't affect Inverness. MVNO's have a different situation though, we rent a chunk of bandwidth from the MNOs at the top level, above masts. We cannot exceed a certain amount of data per second, if we try to then we start losing packets of data because O2 won't send it through. This means that if our Londoner friend is using up such a big chunk of that data that it brings us to our data per second cap that our Inverness member will have a poor experience because the network is full. "

In addition to the above another reason cited for difference between MNO and MVNO -

"localised congestion on your local mast, potentially triggering localised bandwidth management policies - the result being what is clearly a very poor experience for giffgaff members in that area."

Same here... I got the £4 per month sim-only deal because quite honestly, I only need the basics - texts and calls and for £4 per month, it looked like the cheapest way of doing it. I got the sim card, popped it into my iPhone 6 plus and it just worked immediately. Didn't have to set up any internet settings, it just worked. I'm monitoring my internet usage with iD mobile so I don't run into any extra charges, but so far so good. There's a £5 cap anyway, so even if I do go beyond the £4, the most my bill should be, is £9 for the month. I've not had to contact their customer services, but based on my first week with them, i'd probably recommend them. No issues as of yet. But i'll have to let you know how it goes!

Just be careful you don't run over your allowance. I did this and they charged me an absolutely obscene amount of money for 1GB overusage, well over £100 for the additional usage. Sadly I needed the data so asked how much to buy another 1GB which they then charged me £8 for. Shouldn't be allowed but alas, if its in the small print they are entitled to charge whatever they like.

So they are just rolling over Data that you've already paid for and not used....wow....scum companies restricting consumers so forcing them to do what 'they' want rather than what the customer wants....you're all being slowly suckered and don't realise it....but of course you'll convince yourself otherwise to appease your weakness.

But phone companies love mugs who continue to put up with their BS so will never change....

Decent idea, shame it's ID who are frankly not that easy to do business with.

What a rip off, you buy something, you don't use it, so they steal it. I sometimes don't use my hedge cutter for months, that don't mean the manufacturer can come & take it back.
mikes1 to HOTPOT
19 Feb 16 #92
Not sure where the 'stealing' bit comes from! Your monthly payment allows you to use UP TO your monthly data allowance. This offer allows you to roll over any unused data allowance to the following month. If you don't use your monthly allowance, you lose it.

It's the same with any perishable commodity, use it or lose it! e.g nightly income on a hotel room, if it's not booked, is lost. Food past it's best is landfilled, incinerated, sent for animal food, composted or ploughed into the ground.

No idea, where the hedge-cutting analogy came from!

HOTPOT, how long have you waited to use that joke? :stuck_out_tongue: Although the only joke in this thread is iD. Thankfully my contract got cancelled yesterday (after the obligatory 1 month notice) with no problems (see my earlier posts in this thread). Although they did have the cheek to say they were sorry to see me leave.

I tried to contact them on twitter with a problem signing up and no reply, gave a nudge again and they said private message them. Did this and got a reply to say it was an unmonitored account, tweeted again and no reply. I am astounded on how some mobile firms actually make a profit given that this one and others go out of their way to knack you off

The ironicness is all communication networks cant provide great care and treat customera as lower class citizens, even when they breach terms.

IDMobile seem far from "Hot". Their customer service is shocking as they don't understand even the simplest queries.

e.g. "Does your Shockproof sim only offer have the ability to add a Data Roaming facility?" - reply..."Go ask in store!".

Avoid.

Hi anthony , may i ask what plan you are on with 3 for £6.90 , im with 3 and i pay £13.70 for 600 minutes unlimited texts and 4gb of data , is this a good plan or am i being ripped off , is there cheaper options for the same plan

I had my mobile on this network for One Week, Totally useless network, Never able to received or make any calls, whether in doors or outside in the open, Thankfully only had a 30 day rolling contract, now with Talkmobile, more than happy with more or less the same package, I was on with ID.

19 Mar 16 #108
Anthony is the other dude. I was on an older (legacy?) plan, which was £6.90 giving what the current £8 plan gives.
The only difference being I had something like 3000 texts instead of AYCE.

As to whether you're being ripped off, that's your judgement.

Avoid this network.they are the worst network I have ever dealt with.customer service is terrible.also after I cancelled my contract.i was sent a letter 6 months later saying that I owed them money and that if I didn't pay they would forward it on to a debt collection agency.when I called them about it after waiting on hold for over half an hour they told me It was a mistake, that I didn't owe them money and that they didn't know why I had been sent the letter.apparently lots of their customers had got that same letter in error.so they are pretty clueless! Totally useless.not worth the hassle

they are a pain to deal with over the phone but I recall that ee was no different. my main issue came with me trying to get a better tariff but I had to leave them and come back again which is extremely inconvenient. I think this won't be a problem later on since they are a pretty new network. call quality is fine, I have dropped signal in some places but nothing major. Also their 4g has since improved, I seem to get it in a lot more areas now. I think ee is still the fastest but for the tariff I'm on its a pretty incredible price (4gb data, 500 mins, 5000 texts for £10 rolling contract).

I've been on iD mobile since their black Friday double data offer. Been very pleased so far. Data is fast and had no issues so far.

19 Mar 16 #118
Currently on it. Bought it about a week ago, sim came quickly. I use a dual sim phone so I use this for the 4gb 4g data as a replacement of the EE 100gb sim.

Rubbish network. Can barely get 4g anywhere in Sheffield. When I do, it doesn't last long. Normal network is about 3/4 full on average. Speed test App as of 19.03.2016 17:00 gave 1.06mb download speed.

Can bare cope with sending WhatsApp messages, never mind anything else.

I moved away from Three to be with them, no issues so far and their customer service (Only had to use it once initially) has been great.

15 Apr 16 #126
Their systems are so chronically half baked it's almost funny. They can't handle current account switching - then cut you off almost immediately after the payment fails because they take it from the wrong account.

You ring up to make a manual payment - no mention of what cards are accepted - key in your Amex - it asks for the security numbers from the front (so it must accept Amex, you'd think) - it declines with no explanation; go through the whole thing again and it still declines. Get through to customer service, who take all the details *then* say they don't accept Amex (no apology or anything).
Steve Mac
15 Apr 16 #127
I'm tempted to go back to them for this price. I only left because they couldn't change my plan. I know a lot of people seem to be having problems with them but I never bad customer service, erroneous bills etc... Data speeds were good as was network coverage, much better than GiffGaff (who went down again yesterday, due to the bad weather I suspect).

15 Apr 16 1 #128
This ^^, sorely tempted to go back to them instead of LIFE mobile which is more expensive and not nearly as good coverage in my area.

I've been with them for 3 months on a takeaway plan.

Been decent so far however the one time I had to call them it was a right pain, got through to a South African person and couldn't understand a word they said.

However the service itself has been great, good coverage so far in the UK and in Germany/France/Spain too.

I've been with them a few weeks with no issues. Porting my number over from virgin was done through the app, took a few days as over a bank holiday, nice and easy, coverage seems to be fine, I did check prior using the checker. Pay 7.50 for 2gig 4g, 500 texts and 250 mins iirc.

Very happy.

I agree with many of the comments I have read here. I am on the bogof 2gb data pack and all was fine till I went over half my data and it cut me off. Phoned their customer service, emailed them numerous times and they just said I had gone over the 2gb, there was no shifting them. Even when my bill arrived and the itemised bill said I hadn't used the 2gb they said they couldn't see the itemised bill and I would have to scan it back to them. Really wish I hadn't switched to a new unproved service.

Not for existing customers. Just called to change my sons 1month £7.50 p/m 500mb contract and they said no. i could only do it if i cancelled the existing contract and took out a new one (with a new phone number).

iD Mobile launch Data Rollover, New and Existing Customers 1, 12 & 24 month plans

I think the title should be changed because its miss leading its Not for 1mth customers and only for GoTo plans.

What plans does Data Rollover apply to?

iD Data Rollover has been added to all 12 and 24-month GoTo plans.
