*10% CODE NO LONGER WORKS* Back in Stock as of 17th Feb
The price is £99 plus £7 delivery. Still a very good price.
I've been waiting a good while for these now. This is a great little deal that had been out of stock for a long time. I love Freesat and it will work with your sky dish. To record two channels at same time you want to have a minimum twin lnb from your dish. The award winning freetime guide gives you 7-day catch-up tv and direct access to netflix, youtube etc (makes a tv into a semi-smart tv!).
The HDR-1000S 1TB is £146 delivered and is here: http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/refurbished/hdr-1000s-1tb-665284.html
They all come with a 1 year guarantee and most people who have bought from Humaxdirect in previous deals usually say they arrive like new.
"This smart Humax recorder gives you everything you need to be in control of your TV viewing. With Freetime, the super-smart, award-winning TV Guide from Freesat, you can use the Roll Back TV Guide across 26 channels, to watch shows you've missed from the last seven days. Enjoy a broad range of Catch Up TV with BBC iPlayer, ITV player*, All 4, Demand 5 and YouTube. Plus Showcase recommends top TV picks of cool stuff to watch, chosen daily by Freesat's Editorial team. Choose from over 200 Channels including sport, news, movies, kids, music and entertainment; with eleven in picture perfect High Definition. Plus, you can Pause, Rewind and Record your favourite programmes at the touch of a button. You can also use the clever little App from Freesat, to plan and control your TV viewing at the swipe of a finger, when you're at home or out and about. *ITV Player available in England, Wales and the Channel Islands."

The remote was white, like the box, and both appeared brand new. Sorry not to make myself clear. I've got it running from my old Sky dish which I now have to upgrade to HDplus (ie quad LNB and additional coax down lead kit). Got in mind this one and would appreciate comments:-
Latter probably better for me, as I have an older dish than a Mk4 and will need an LNB adapter
Thanks

Ozodimal, was the remote you recieved white or black as the HDR1010s originally shipped with a white remote? I'm just wondering if it's a bit of pot luck as to what remote you get.
For anyone else who has ordered one of the refurbs, did you get a programmable remote to be able to control the TV, and if so which model did you buy? Looking to get one myself and would prefer a programmable one if possible.

14 Mar 16#92
Thanks Majumba. Your HDR 1000S remote doesn't seem to match the picture in the Manual, where it says that the TV button will blink once when pressed. If it doesn't then it suggests that Humax's claim that refurbished items (including ancillaries) will "look and work as new" is not the case with your remote. You have a 1 year warranty and it should be honoured! Have you tried going through the TV setting procedure ignoring the fact that the TV button does not light? It might work if you haven't. Obviously something I'll have to look out for (same remote on the 1010S).
PS; It arrived today (16/03/2016) and checked out all OK. Remote is the "universal" type on the RHS of Majumba's pic. All the accessories were neatly coiled, etc, in sealed packets and the 1010S itself appears to be in mint condition. Very pleased with the item and indeed with Freesat. Thanks OP!
Majumba
14 Mar 16#91
The codes don't word as the remote is not universal. Humax confirmed this. I'm not saying everyone will receive a non-universal remote, but I did.
The universal control I got with my HD-1000S is on the right and the non-universal remote I got with the HDR-1000S is on the left. You can see that the STB and TV buttons don't illuminate. Some other buttons have been moved around too.

The remote I received doesn't control the TV like they normally do, which is really annoying. I've been in touch with Humax who were going to swap it until they found out it was a refurb. Grrr!!!

Have you viewed the instructions for harmonising the remote to your TV in the appropriate manual (1000 or 1010) via the links in my post #86 above? If so, are you saying that the codes given don't work?
ozodimal
13 Mar 16#88
Thanks for the info. Looking at the two manuals I suspect that, other than the larger HD, the only real difference is the wireless capability. That added flexibility and capacity I think warrants the extra £40, so I too have plumped for the 1010S like you.
I think the only differences between the two boxes are that the 1010 has Freetime, access to Catch up services and wifi built in.
Since we've had the box we have been using catch up services more as it is easier to access the services through the box rather than having to connect the Chromecast and load up apps on our mobiles/tablets.

Ordered a 1010 yesterday and it arrived today.
I set it up but could not get it to connect to my router over wifi, I was about to pack it all back into the box and decided to try a factory reset, bingo all working fine!
BTW I bought this to replace an old 320gb Humax Foxsat box and the old remote works perfectly with the new box.

Glad it worked out OK for you. Do you think that the HDR-1010S 1TB is better value at £139 than the HDR-1000S 500GB at £99? Do the extra features warrant the extra cost, obviously twice as much recording time but other features as well presumably? Thanks.

Hi, I am sorry I misunderstood you. Because this thread was about Freesat I presumed that was what you were looking at, but I now understand and see you are also looking at 'yourview' and 'freeview' boxes which are completely different and beyond my compass. Your selection of 5 models includes all three types.
For instance, the freeview boxes receive their signals from an old type roof aerial whereas the freesat boxes operate from a satelite dish and the two systems have slightly different programs. I have no knowledge of yourview boxes at all.
You might get more help if you asked in http://www.hotukdeals.com/all/ask/new

Hi, there are only 2 refurbished freesat models in the 'around £100 or less' category. The HB-1000s (G) is a simple freesat box with freetime at £39 that you have to connect your own drive to. Somebody wrote about this earlier in the thread somewhere. The other one is the HDR-1000s 500gb at £99 which I imagine is very similar to the former but with an internal drive. I went for the HDR-1010s 1tb at £139 which I can't recommend highly enough. I am extremely happy with it.

Can anyone who has this box comment on how snappy the menus are? I've had a couple of Freeview+ boxes, and 3 YouView boxes, and I've only found the most recent PlusNet YouView box to be on par with Sky's menu speed.
It irritates me when I press a button, and the box has to think for a second or two before reacting.

18 Feb 16#74
It was and I love mine. It seemed to disappear yesterday whereas in the past it has stayed online but would have an Out of stock shadow over it. My best guess would be as it is older model, maybe they don't expect any more returns for them to refurbish. A real shame if that is the case. I'd still keep my eye open if I were you, you never know.

I'm using an external drive, which was just plug n play. I'm sure I read that the USB port was powered. Can't find the details now, but I would assume a portable drive would also work.

I've had my refurb of this for 3 years this year. Brilliant bit of kit as it does evrything you want it to do. I've had no problems with the box since i got it. The buttons on the remote on the other hand do ware out after a while so you need to take the plastic cover off and give the circuitboard a clean with a cloth and some cleaning product like dettol.

It's hard for anyone on sky to give up their fav channels (mine was Atlantic!). But when on a tight budget freesat is a no-brainer. Paying a monthly subscription vs Never paying any monthly sub. For anyone on even the very basic Sky package, buying this recorder would pay for itself in less than 5 months and less than half way through the warranty.
