Anyone looking for the rom to flash to dual sim select the (GRA-UL00) rom
yeah i'm torn between the 2 of which to buy - both i can get for the same price but th p8 online and only has stock photos not photos of actual item seems a good price for the p8 and seller seems to have a few available says used with original box and accessories but i'm wondering if its actually the p8 lite and seller has on purpose left out that its the lite version ... i cba with the hassle of returns if that turns out to be the case esp when you have to pay own returns postage.
the 5x i can get locally used boxed with accessories so at least I can check before hand ...
but for the same price I think the p8 is the better phone just due to having that extra gb ram. i think the performance factor would outweigh the finger print scanner on the 5x
worried the 5x is too big for me
decisions.... -_-

Very similar specs - differences can be compared here.
The P8 has 1Gb more ram & comes with NFC, but smaller screen & smaller overall dimensions. The Honor 5X has a fingerprint scanner & a little larger battery compared to the P8. I also think the main camera & its features on the P8 is superior. Both have nice metallic/aluminium bodies.

Mine has developed an issue, small white dot on the screen, like potentially something pressing on it from behind. No damage to the external screen surface.
Looking at the CPW website it says they no longer repair Huawei handsets... will they replace it or send it away?

Well, actually after the new update there has been an excellent improvement in the free memory aspect.
With my usual apps opened, there used to be 1-1.2Gb remaining, but after the update there is an average of 1.5-1.8Gb remaining.

Guys & gals, a new official Marshmallow update (B317) has been available for a few weeks - it is offered in the phone itself if one checks in: Settings > Update
Manual install instructions & download links if you prefer HERE or HERE.
It let me upgrade from the beta Mm (B313) update someone had posted earlier in this thread.
No noticeable benefits that I can see over the beta version to be honest - view Changelog below:

My kitkat phones also have Mobile Standby as the largest battery drain. Both have 100% "Time on" which matches how long the battery stats have been tracking since the charger came off. They both last days and days idling. I think its possible that the radio should always be active if you want mobile call connectivity, I don't think its related to 2g/3g/4g data or an unnecessary radio connection.
FiveBobBill
15 Feb 16#678
Mobile Standby is the biggest drain on mine as well, and if I then tap on that it tells me "Mobile Radio" has been on for over 20hrs in a 48hr period! So defo an Android problem, not the phone...
dewey2
15 Feb 16#677
I've seen just over 1% battery drain per hour idling with data off, wifi on. The device wakes up occasionally but nothing much at all. Mobile Standby is the largest user according to the battery stats.
I left it overnight (12 hours) with Airplane mode on and the battery didnt move from 46%. I then used the camera for 5 mins and still didn't see the battery drop. Charged it a bit and it started reporting again.
Doing some more airplane mode now to see how it goes.
According to those reports it's mobile data that causes the radio to stay on once used? If I restart and be in wifi only the whole time it shouldn't be a problem? I know these phones have 2 antenna/radios to combat iphone style death grip and for seamless tower switches so maybe they use more power. Can't see a way to turn 1 of them off permanently in the settings.
FiveBobBill
15 Feb 16#676
I may have found the culprit for the unexpected battery drain of some of the P8's on here, seemed to have been specific to Lollipop, but a fix promised for 6.0 Marshmallow apparently hasn't solved it...
Have spare one for sale if anyone's interested. Will post it in the relevant section.

Which network are you with? Mine is ee and it looks just like SilverBlack's above.
I've had airplane mode active for the last 2 hours and the battery has remained unchanged at 73%. I have poor 3G coverage here so it's probably auto selecting 3G for voice and boosting the transmitter/receiver power to stay connected.
bear807
12 Feb 16#667
I'm not sure does everyone do this but I always do in my androids is switch off google auto sync, that will save you lots of battery from background keeps on refreshing.
The p8 battery is no means good I get 5hours 15mins max screen on time and around 16 hours down to 8%
The 6s plus my another daily driver under power saving mode could go on near10 hours screen on time and 20 hours standby still have 20% left.
It is a common problem for battery draining on standby for Android
SilverBlack
12 Feb 16#666
Mine doesnt have a 2G only option but im on the Three network so 2G is not the best if at all.
Maybe settings are different depending on network.
Oh i like the double tap with your knuckle for the screenshot

When I access Wireless & networks - More - Mobile Network - Preferred network mode on my P8 I have 4 options, including a 2G only mode...
FiveBobBill
12 Feb 161#662
First thing to do is go to the Power Saving tab in Settings and enable Smart Mode, it'll make little difference to your experience but save you power.
The following link has a lot of power saving tips for a beginner, it's individual trial and error, some will suit your usage, some not, employ as many or few as you like... but at the very least turn off your Wi-Fi, Data, and Bluetooth when not in use, they're all easily accessible from the Shortcut menu (swipe down from top of screen)...
I tried again overnight with 3 devices. All had wifi on, data off and the same apps installed.
12 hours idling battery drain and the other phones are 2.5+ years old
Y300: 5%
Moto G 1st gen: 7%
P8: 10%
The battery stats show "Mobile Standby" was the highest at 58% and is similar on my other devices so it seems about right and there are no rogue apps taking over.
The only thing I did notice is that there is no option to select "2G only" for preferred network mode. It has to be 4G/3G/2G auto, 3G/2G auto or 3G only.
Does anyone have the option for 2g only? Settings - Wireless & networks - More - Mobile Network - Preferred network mode

11 Feb 16#654
No mate, you must have something running in the background, your apps have probably all updated overnight without your knowledge, wouldn't be surprised if some of them are still running. You need to go into your App manager and disable or delete a lot of the crap you won't use.
I've had mine 48hrs now, gave it a 90% charge when it arrived and been playing with it ever since. Haven't watched any videos, but personalising, viewing pics, downloading apps, surfing the net, taking/making calls etc... and at the minute I'm down to 18%

Ignore the comments below if you got it working with a third-party app - I've tried All-In-One Toolbar app since & downloaded/installed the 'Volume Settings Plugin' from within the app (Toolbox button > Plugins tab), & it works fine now
-----------------------------------------
To get around the ringtone & notification volume problem for now...
I usually only ever use 1 notification tune, so I reduced the volume of its equivalent MP3 file (using the free MP3Gain) & placed it in the Internal storage>Notifications folder (via a USB cable connected to my PC).
I then went into settings & changed it to the reduced-volume file.
Now it sounds lower than the ringtone, just as I need it :-)

9 Feb 16#624
Got my one now. Seems like a nice phone.
It's really flat on the back and hard to pick up from a table compared to my Moto G which you can roll to get an edge up. The elastic bounce scrolling in the settings menu is annoying and these altered icons on Google apps and rounded corners on every icon isn't something I like.
Video won't do continuous AF while recording unless you enable object tracking and set an object, and then it constantly focuses even if the object is lost. The Google Camera app works (with minimal controls) and does do continuous AF while recording. Seems like a bit of an oversight from Huawei.
The battery notifications about apps using lots of cpu can be turned off which is great.
Not a fan of the recent apps screen layout. Nothing wrong with the default Android 4.0 style vertical list or the 5.0 cards.
Not sure if it's possible to use a phone without an app drawer. I'm using Apex for now simply to have it back
I miss having the "cast screen" tile in my notification menu, have to go into chromecast to do it.
TelicVet to dewey2

If you pull down the notification bar and then slide up the tiles you'll see an edit button appear. You can then add and remove the ones you want.

Updated to 6.0, some apps downloaded from Amazon app store don't seem to work (Runtastic Pro & Shazam Encore) had to reinstall a few from play store too (Firefox, instagram, Amazon shopping). sjoyce666
9 Feb 16#620
Yes you can set the volume with that but as part of the Android system as default the ringer volume and notification volumes are the same.
I want my notification volume lower than the ringer volume and the only way to do this on the P8 is with a third party app. TouchWiz on the Note 2 has this option as standard and also has icon badges as standard which is also not a standard Android function
sbellseb
9 Feb 16#619
On the honor 7 if you press the volume key up or down do you not get like a little settings icon on the right, I do, and if I click that I can set ringtone, media, alarms and call volumes to different levels. This is not part of any launcher. I has the 6+ and it was the same, but maybe there are differences between honor and huawei phones which don't make user friendly sense.
sjoyce666
9 Feb 16#618
I'm using S Launcher which has icon badges with another plugin. Also using volume control to separate ringer volume and notification volumes with some success. All seems to depend on if the app developer wrote the notifications to use the ringer volume or notification volume. Getting a bit more used to it but still prefer the Note 2 setup I had but nothing Samsung can touch this for £150 so will have to learn to like it I think. Next on the list is a decent keyboard similar to the Samsung one on the Note 2

I wouldn't say something was wrong with it. Was an impulse buy and then I was to see if it was worth an upgrade over the G3. A lot of comparison websites gave the edge to the G3. It has more pixels, better images and a 3000 battery. Don't get me wrong it was sleek, responsive and the 3gb RAM was very appealing but for a 2015 phone, didn't exactly blow the G3 out the water. Oh the pre installed spiderman game lagged like hell.

6 Feb 16#532
------
OK, just had a look at their return policy - you can swap but not return sim-free phones, I'm afraid.
Return Policy:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SIM free phones bought in store
You can swap your SIM free phone for a different handset within 14 days of buying it.
You can only swap your phone for a different model once. You can't return your phone and get a refund.
Items bought at Carphone Warehouse stores can be returned or exchanged at any Carphone Warehouse store, but not at Samsung Experience Stores. Similarly, items bought at Samsung Experience Stores can only be returned or exchanged in a Samsung Experience Store.

I had bought the P8 lite from CPW in-store, they had no problem with returning it a week later used (so I could get this one!) - I said it was because the battery life was poor but, tbh, it wasn't an issue. I had the option of a refund or swap to the P8.
I did get the lite on PAYG so it's possible they have a different return policy for sim-free phones but I wouldn't have thought so.
Worth a try at least.

Thought Amazon Consumer Electronics fees were 10%, then plus VAT. So £235 x 10% * 1.2 = £28.50, plus 40p per item fee, then you've got tracked postage on top (I presume you've sent SD), then factor the risk of a customer return, or worse an A-Z and you're not as up as you let on.

So it was a pricing error of 380 rrp down to 229 instead of 150. At 229 is still a very nice phone but not as attractive. Given spec I am willing to pay 190 for it to consider it as attractive enough to buy.

Spoke to the guys in Swansea Oxford Street, today at 13:00 (5/2/16).
Could not get them to budge from £229.99.
Apparently it was supposed to be originally reduced by £149.99 making it £229.99 in the first place - the £149.99 price was an error, which is why the price was pulled less than 24 hours from sale. It went up to £229.99 at around 10am.
So unfortunately it seems we'll never see that £149.99 price again. Congratulations to all those who got one at that price.

Just to make sure this is absolutely clear, the 'black' that Carphone Warehouse sell is the Titanium Grey 16GB model, it is NOT the premium Black 64GB version, as someone else mentioned I'm even not sure that version was even sold in the UK, and it certainly wouldn't be sold for £149.99!
So, if you're thinking of picking up a 'black' one from Carphone Warehouse thinking it might be a 64GB handset, you're going to be sorely disappointed!

Bit concerned about the person who has potentially ordered it eight times, the lack of communication between the stores and online is TERRIBLE, especially when they suddenly change prices on items, etc.
If I can get to a store after work and they still 150 if get just don't know what color scheme is better to go for. I'd wanted all black or all white but realized that not an option.

Trust me, you may *think* that the Moto G is still working fine, getting a P8 in your hand you'd wonder how you ever put up with it

4 Feb 16#229
How does this compare to the Honor 7?
lukec36 to GigabitEthernet

Honor 7 was released slightly later than the P8 and positioned beneath it in terms of brand/price, however in pretty much every aspect the Honor 7 is equal or superior than the P8, to the extent that it effectively cannibalised the P8 sales and left retailers with a load of unsold stock that they had to shift.
In order to shift this stock they waited until the very day that Honor launched their newest device, the 5X, then priced the P8 so aggressively that there would be pretty much no reason to buy the 5X over the P8.

Compared to su6 Better build, better processor, more ram, far better camera 13mp with ois, marshmallow update as well and a more manageable size su6 is just too big even for a 5.5 inch screen size. Also I think this has dual sim/ sd slot too but don't quote me on that. i think for 50 extra well worth it over su6

I just remembered it existed after seeing random people asking questions about their SIM sizes... Google is your friend!

There is a beta Marshmallow ROM already available but I've not tried it yet and I've read some users are finding it buggy.
This beta has been available for a couple of months now so hopefully a final release isn't too far away...
I got mine from the original iD deal back in the summer and have been pretty pleased with the phone. Certainly a high-quality well-made device and the camera is very good in most situations. Battery life and performance are plenty good enough for me and I'd say it would be an excellent buy at £150, despite the lack of fingerprint ID/dual SIM.

Worth a try, I don't believe there's any need to tell them who you have your contract through, they're only interested as to whether you have an O2 SIM card, they wouldn't be able to do it if you had a Tesco Mobile or Giffgaff SIM.

Anyone know about getting a stock Android ROM on this?
Also, does anyone that uses the Huawei frontend get annoyed with the lack of an app tray (as I read in a review)?
I don't like the idea of multiple home screens containing all the apps... I suppose I may get used to it when I actually use the phone, but I've got very used to a stock Android experience over the years!
Any current P8 users that can chime in on this would be appreciated!

You can install 'Google Now Laucher' which spoofs a stock Android ROM including App Drawer.
I'm using the Honor 7 with EMUI, and to be honest I think you'd get used to a lack of App Drawer in a couple of days, I believe that it's a good OS implementation.
Millions of Apple users get by without an App Drawer and I think that though a minor irritant to begin with that recedes over time.

Just had a look at the phone in the Swansea Oxford Street branch. Priced up at £299.99 but after asking a staff member if it's reduced he did a quick check and it was indeed £149.99.
Played with it for five minutes.
Camera is fantastic, comparable (if not better!) than my iPhone 6. Similar interface. Quick to shoot a photo, minimal focusing time. Starts up in under a second.
User interface (Emotion UI) is VERY similar to iOS. It's basically iOS' Springboard but with widgets. No complaints there. Don't like it? Install Google Now launcher or Nova Launcher etc. The pull down notification centre looks a lot like the one in iOS and so does the pull up quick settings one which is accessed from the lock screen.
Responsiveness - good. Not quite as quick as my iPhone 6 but certainly fast enough. No noticeable jitter or lag. Nice transitions and animations when changing screens or flicking through the inbuilt apps.
Screen. Gorgeous. Puts my iPhone to shame. Very high resolution and deep inky blacks, almost looked like an AMOLED screen. Gets nice and bright, too. Great viewing angles.
Build. Fan-bloody-tastic. One of the best, if not the best feeling phones in the hand. And I've held a few in my time. Prefer it to my slippery iPhone. Particularly like the squared off edges which allow for better grip when taking photos. The iPhone 6/6s is a slippery beast if used without a case.
What I didn't like:
The built in music player. Too basic. Install another like Poweramp or Google Play Music and you'll be fine.
Placement of the camera. It's too close to the rear edges so can be obscured by your fingers, so you will need to hold it differently.

They are pretty similar, but the P8 has much better build quality & is slimmer (with slightly weaker battery). The two compared specwise here.
No fingerprint scanner on the P8 & only a 13Mp camera, versus 20Mp on the H7 (but size isn't always better!).
If I had to choose, it would be the P8 on account of its build quality alone, as this is more important to me than the other features of the H7. But your sis may be different....

Why don't you visit a shop & have a firsthand look (if available to view) - it will be as good, if not better than the HTC One M7, which I've read isn't too shabby itself!
As an aside, if I didn't already have a metallic P6, I would have definitely gone for this. Actually, I might still do :stuck_out_tongue:

It does have Corning Gorilla Glass 3, my Moto G with Corning Gorilla Glass is almost pristine, and I've had it for a good while now, but I do have a sleeve case thing for it which has protected the phone from my keys when they're in my pocket. I'm guessing no need for a screen protector...

A launcher would probably do the trick for me, but like you said, I'd probably get used to the lack of app drawer after a wee while of use... Think of it as an almost autistic resistance to change!
Glad to hear that it's not a terrible OS implementation, I have terrible memories of previous phones with slow, bogged down in-house frontends, it's those phone that have given me a resistance to anything but stock (which my current Moto G runs pretty well).

Hi bellboys, would you be able to advise on whether installing this case caused any scuffs to the sides of the phone. I was looking at this earlier but am aware that Huawei phones are notoriously easy to scuff due to their use of soft aluminium.

I had it in my head that nano SIMs had a different configuration with the contacts, I'm probably completely wrong as I haven't ever had to look into nano SIMs! Tesco swapped my old SIM for a micro a good while back, just need to go to a store with a phone shop. I'm not in a rush... But I'd like to give the phone a test run by Saturday! Or take some scissors to my current SIM
Of course they are much cheaper from China but take a while to get here.

That was my logic, what with the Argyle Street branch only having two in stock (in black anyway, didn't ask about other colours) I figured I'd buy it and do my research after. Asking the guy about returning if I kept it sealed in its packaging, he pulled a face but stated it's 14 days for returns. Only probs is that I need to get my Tesco Mobile micro SIM changed to a nano SIM before I can put it through its paces. Bah to SIM size changes!

At retail price I'd go for the Honor 7 over this, but I'd say that this is hands down the best phone available for £150, ever, period!
And those who say 'go for x or y from Gearbest/Banggood/Ali Express etc' you can't put a price on peace of mind, I've bought 3 phones from Chinese import, 2 have been fine but my wife's Nubia Z9 Mini has some awful adware ROM that brings up full screen adverts all the time and factory resetting it does nothing. Tried complaining to the retailer but they don't care, and flashing it to put on a new ROM runs the risk of bricking it.
I'd much rather buy a device with a UK ROM from a retailer that I can deal with.

Having done more research, it seems that this is definitely single sim and no option to unlock dual sim capability by flashing (which is possible on P8 Lite).
For dual sim P8 you need the GRA-UL00 model.
I guess I'll just wait for the Honor 7 to drop in price then...

Ordered, thanks OP. Perfect timing my Nexus 6 was nicked yesterday. I'm not best clued up on tech but seems a good buy.
I have always had Ringke fusion cases (first heard of them through hukd) and they're almost bomb proof. My nexus 6 (and previously the 4) survived anything my toddler through at it. Ringke sadly don't seem to do one for the P8. Any suggestions? One with a rubberised bumpers would mean that when my toddler gets hold of it and invariably drops it I don't have to have a mini heart attack. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Must be your finger. Agree with earlier posters - the fingerprint scanner on the H7, is brill. Could be an earlier version of that sensor? Couldn't live without now. H7 scanner acknowledged as best in class - if not overall. And you can set gestures to favourite/ most used Apps too - setting swiping up & down, long press, etc. Always works with me.
I have a nice cheap Nillkin 'rubberised' shell type case and it's slight increased depth and with the cut out, makes the fingerprint scanner sensor even easier to locate and operate. Tip of the Day: I've 'registered' both my fore & second fingers on both hands, so it'll operate just about anyway you pick it up or hold it :-)

I have honor 7 made by huawei it has a finger print reader which is amazing and fast too also has a ir blaster. Maybe what your looking for similar to this phone has a bigger battrey and a arguably better camera and a very slightly updated processor. It costs around 210 but Amazon warhorse deals comes every now and then selling it for less than 200. If you need all that apart from that this is a great deal for not a lot of money. If you need all that stuff get the honor 7 if not save yourself some money get this. The only thing I don't like about this phone is the battrey life as for me it will just get me through the day but for others this may not be a issue

I have had this since a crazy cheap deal on ID network several months ago and it's a great great phone with a brilliant optical image stabilised camera and I always have over 1GB RAM free even when leaving lots open! the 5x i can get locally used boxed with accessories so at least I can check before hand ...
but for the same price I think the p8 is the better phone just due to having that extra gb ram. i think the performance factor would outweigh the finger print scanner on the 5x
worried the 5x is too big for me
decisions.... -_-
The P8 has 1Gb more ram & comes with NFC, but smaller screen & smaller overall dimensions. The Honor 5X has a fingerprint scanner & a little larger battery compared to the P8. I also think the main camera & its features on the P8 is superior. Both have nice metallic/aluminium bodies.
Looking at the CPW website it says they no longer repair Huawei handsets... will they replace it or send it away?
With my usual apps opened, there used to be 1-1.2Gb remaining, but after the update there is an average of 1.5-1.8Gb remaining.
------------------------------------------
Direct & complete (1.47Gb) update download from Huawei HERE
Above link taken directly from the Huawei site - the URL to the download page is a generic one, so may not always show up there.
---------------------------
Guys & gals, a new official Marshmallow update (B317) has been available for a few weeks - it is offered in the phone itself if one checks in: Settings > Update
Manual install instructions & download links if you prefer HERE or HERE.
It let me upgrade from the beta Mm (B313) update someone had posted earlier in this thread.
No noticeable benefits that I can see over the beta version to be honest - view Changelog below:
Have a Vodafone sim in there now on 2G (EDGE) and is giving me 4 bars of signal instead of the 1-3 on 3G.
Can't see a way to turn 1 of them off permanently in the settings.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/08/21/google-will-finally-fix-the-infamous-mobile-radio-active-bug-in-android-6-0/
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=190396
Well handy
I've had airplane mode active for the last 2 hours and the battery has remained unchanged at 73%. I have poor 3G coverage here so it's probably auto selecting 3G for voice and boosting the transmitter/receiver power to stay connected.
Maybe settings are different depending on network.
Oh i like the double tap with your knuckle for the screenshot
Stupid question; Google services is the most battery draining item. Is it necessary (i have my gmail linked and use maps) can i get rid of it all and do it a different way? Not even sure what Google services is/does...
The following link has a lot of power saving tips for a beginner, it's individual trial and error, some will suit your usage, some not, employ as many or few as you like... but at the very least turn off your Wi-Fi, Data, and Bluetooth when not in use, they're all easily accessible from the Shortcut menu (swipe down from top of screen)...
http://www.androidauthority.com/android-battery-saver-tips-tricks-189882/
12 hours idling battery drain and the other phones are 2.5+ years old
Y300: 5%
Moto G 1st gen: 7%
P8: 10%
The battery stats show "Mobile Standby" was the highest at 58% and is similar on my other devices so it seems about right and there are no rogue apps taking over.
The only thing I did notice is that there is no option to select "2G only" for preferred network mode. It has to be 4G/3G/2G auto, 3G/2G auto or 3G only.
Does anyone have the option for 2g only? Settings - Wireless & networks - More - Mobile Network - Preferred network mode
cheers
I've had mine 48hrs now, gave it a 90% charge when it arrived and been playing with it ever since. Haven't watched any videos, but personalising, viewing pics, downloading apps, surfing the net, taking/making calls etc... and at the minute I'm down to 18%
-----------------------------------------
To get around the ringtone & notification volume problem for now...
I usually only ever use 1 notification tune, so I reduced the volume of its equivalent MP3 file (using the free MP3Gain) & placed it in the Internal storage>Notifications folder (via a USB cable connected to my PC).
I then went into settings & changed it to the reduced-volume file.
Now it sounds lower than the ringtone, just as I need it :-)
Ouch, back upto £299.99 on CW. Still think I'll return it/sell it.
Many thanks to OP and well done if you got it at the lowest price.
Thanks again to the poster of this hot deal.

"I contacted Huawei in my home country, and it is indeed not possible to control spotify from the lock screen at the moment without installing another lock screen like Next lock screen, but Huawei said that they hope this will be dealt with in a future update."
As a last resort you could check out one of these apps?

I have enabled the apps in notifications, just not showing up.
I want my notification volume lower than the ringer volume and the only way to do this on the P8 is with a third party app. TouchWiz on the Note 2 has this option as standard and also has icon badges as standard which is also not a standard Android function
Cant get TeslaUnlocked to update the icon bubbles and need the notification volume to be different to the main ringer volume. My Samsung Note 2 had both of these and didn't realise these weren't standard Android options
Sending mine back unfortunately :disappointed:
Mine seems to be set to the ringing volume which is no good.
Cant find a volume for notifications only and it doesn't seem to be the media volume either
Its bigger than I expected compared to my Moto but ill get used to it im sure.
Shame really, would have liked any excuse to keep it.
Go to settings, notifications, pick which apps notify on lock screen, banner, notifications or all 3,
I'm hopefully going to pick mine up from the store now, although I've had nothing to say it's there.
The reviews from most mobile sites tend to be very favourable and its unanimously a lot of phone for the money.
If anyone has one bought on impulse and doesn't want or need it, feel free to pm you, you will have the money back in your account straight away )))
I also did a force restart but had no luck.
thanks
Thank you both, now updated to 6.0
Would like to see marshmallow on this, does anyone know if it's coming?
If I'm not getting on with it then I'd happily let someone on here have it, or take it back to the shop.
Fingers crossed
Any ideas

Only thing I don't like about it :disappointed:

* double tap to wake works on smart launcher. You can try it for free I think. I use it on my honor 7.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have unpackaged the phone but only used it for about 20 mins. I'm sure I read that others have returned can anyone shed any light on this?
Im sure somebody will buy it off you for cost price tho.
I did get the lite on PAYG so it's possible they have a different return policy for sim-free phones but I wouldn't have thought so.
Worth a try at least.
PM me !
here you go! studied many cases and go for this the feeling on hand is exceptionally good! I wanted the flip case too but don't see the dotted matrix one available in uk
http://www.handtec.co.uk/huawei-p8-smart-view-flip-cover-case-white-51990826.html
Speaking of case I got the official case from Amazon for 9 quid which is a soft touch material thin case very match the phone shame it won't cover the top and bottom
cant comment on battery life yet, but the general consensus seems to be that it is reasonably good...
thanks!

hey mate where were you offered zenphone for 55 ? sad they jacked up the price for p8
True hukd- no profit on a deal
I've not even switched the thing on yet, a bit reluctant to use without a case etc. and im currently sending all my pictures from my iphone to my Mrs phone so I can get her to send them to my new phone!
Hoping the Battery lasts a full day with moderate use as the iphone I have at the moment needs charging every couple of hours!
Have you upgraded the OS? how is your battery life?
Even though they had sold on at £150 earlier today and still had all the POS up, and had the deal in their staff offers printout, they would not have it at that price.
They called head office who said it was a promo error and the new POS was already in the branch inbox - looked to be £70 off
Still gutted though
Could not get them to budge from £229.99.
Apparently it was supposed to be originally reduced by £149.99 making it £229.99 in the first place - the £149.99 price was an error, which is why the price was pulled less than 24 hours from sale. It went up to £229.99 at around 10am.
So unfortunately it seems we'll never see that £149.99 price again. Congratulations to all those who got one at that price.
Well you win some, lose some - unless your Aston Villa.
Atleast the impressions sound good and the fact that messed up the price makes it even more of a bargain.
can anyone point me to an idiot proof guide to upgrading to 6.0! thanks in advance! And super deal OP!
My first android so i'm hoping i wont regret it! ha
on the other hand i've been offered a asus zenphone 5 for £55 is that a good price? it lacks 4g so not sure whether its worth is.
i have a p6 and ee kestrel so would it be a step up
Now to set it up and what to customize with? Any recommendations of what to switch on and off? Or is default pretty much the best?..
4g hasn't shown up yet although gf iPhone 6 is? (same Vodafone)..
Camera is truly stunning of what it can do
Only slightly larger too.Ive left the front screen protector on for the time being as you barely notice its there.
Installed Nova launcher as prefer the app drawer, plus now have double tap to switch the screen off.
But when the added to basket it takes price to £229.99.. Sorry.

On a more serious note.. yes you have!
Edit: tried another store with stock - same story.

CPW "White" = Mystic Champagne

Most of those are the lite version check the specs HD 720 x 1280 pixels
So, if you're thinking of picking up a 'black' one from Carphone Warehouse thinking it might be a 64GB handset, you're going to be sorely disappointed!
Did anyone buy the white that could share a photo with me? Torn.... Though probably pointless as by time I finish work be all sold out of back up on price
edit: these were badly listed lites
edited so no one buys one!
Bit concerned about the person who has potentially ordered it eight times, the lack of communication between the stores and online is TERRIBLE, especially when they suddenly change prices on items, etc.
From six months ago, starting at post 34...

I
Carbon Black, Prestige Gold (64 GB model)
My black/grey is being delivered around lunchtime.
Kinda irritated no full black version
Was going to get one today from their Swansea store, but won't bother now as their prices probably have also gone up.
There might be a few popping into stock over the next few days.
The last message I received (yesterday) said "your order has been dispatched to your chosen store. Please ensure you take the credit card..."
Just wondering if it's worth me going to the store now...
"We're writing to let you know that we have received your email, and it will be passed to a member of our team today.
We'll do our very best to get back to you within the next 2 Days."
Ordered around 5:30 last night whilst it was going in and out of stock. Not holding out much hope :disappointed:
there are plenty on ebay for this price now too if anyone missed out, so i'll be returning my spare rather than trying to flog it.
Got confirmation by 14:00, stating it's on its way to my chosen store. I'm hoping to pick it up on Sunday when I'm in city centre. Can't wait.
This feels and looks very premium compare to Note 2, and lets face it Note 2 feels very plastic as it is one !
Upgrade,you won't regret it.
I'd like to know this too, I read somewhere it was 7gb .
Games being as big as they are today hope it's able to do apps to sd?
Which would you guys keep and which would you send back/sell? The P8 is being delivered tomorrow.
Sounds like it could be the start of the "Oh we could not process your payment so you *might* not get it routine!"
What we need, is for someone who has ordered after 1pm but before 5pm to see if anyone has a "your order has
been dispatched" or a text message to the same.. :man:
Also thanks to the op.
Not sure how many they have in stock but they had black and white, so got the black one.
or is the white model full white front and back?
And received the dispatch email at 14.10.

that's a pain
i would go for the black if its full black
but i'd go for the white if the black is the grey finish version
....
or should i say I would went have....now i cant go for any as sold out. *sob*
If it doesn't, you've got 14 days to return it.
Wipes floor with S4.
Planned upgrade to Marshmallow (according to GSMarena)
Camera a bit less than the Z1 - 13MP vs 20, but has OIS (optical image stabilizing).
TBH, haven't been as impressed as I hoped with the camera on the Z1, maybe I need to use a flipcase to keep the lens clean, as my old C902 had an integral lens cover.
The performance increase this would have over a first gen Moto G would be like upgrading from an original Playstation to a PS4, the 1st Gen Moto G was a decent mid-ranger at a good price in 2013, the P8 is a 2015 flagship.
Trust me, you may *think* that the Moto G is still working fine, getting a P8 in your hand you'd wonder how you ever put up with it
(I only say this as my Honor 7 broke recently and I used a DooGee Y100X while the H7 was in repair. The DooGee has similar specs to the Moto G, and I thought "this ain't so bad..." but as soon as I got the H7 back I realised I was just kidding myself...)
In order to shift this stock they waited until the very day that Honor launched their newest device, the 5X, then priced the P8 so aggressively that there would be pretty much no reason to buy the 5X over the P8.
BUT I WANT IT!!!!!
Only making 1000% sure since there is a lot of conflicting information around, some say you can get dual sim by flashing a custom rom, others say its completely locked, and a few claim it is dual sim out the box???
Thank you!
Had one of these [now passed on] for over 6 months last year and until went through this post, did not realize
it only has Wi-Fi N speeds, such a stunning bit of kit, but using 10 year old wifi speeds, thought it was
dual AC at least!!!
I really cant remeber when last I bought a phone this brilliant for the money.
I have been using like 1 hour the kinetic scrolling is so smooth better then the note 4!
Well, it's not really, Google just want all your personal data. But hey, you can search stuff on their site...
http://www.carbontesla.com/2015/12/download-huawei-p8-b313-marshmallow-ota-zip-europe/
The only advantage I see is that it has a better gpu (adreno vs mali)
But this is too good not to buy as an upgrade for my aging Galaxy S3.. RIP bank balance! :disappointed:
Bought the damn phone :disappointed:
But then I saw this and caved.
Dammit!
Just so that the guy gets the full answer!

Anyone recommend a good case...nothing too expensive

thanks!
Anyone know if I need to change the SIM from my Iphone 4S? I'm with TPO from a monthly SIM only deal on here.
If you want stock experience, get one of the Nexus phones.
I have just been on to o2 chat and ordered a nano sim to my billing address for free
The lite was a nice phone but the difference in quality is like night and day - the P8 is a beautifully made phone and just feels nice in the hand. Even the box it comes in is a step-up. For anyone sitting on the fence just order!
Stock was available in most shops around me:
Colisseum - 1 left after me!
Chester - 5+ in each store
Wrexham - 2
Birkenhead - 5
None in E.Port
It seems most of the bigger stores have at least some stock....... for now!
Terrific phone it is too, they had 1 left in stock
Heat added
No fingerprint scanner on the P8 & only a 13Mp camera, versus 20Mp on the H7 (but size isn't always better!).
If I had to choose, it would be the P8 on account of its build quality alone, as this is more important to me than the other features of the H7. But your sis may be different....
Tried to find honor 7, but it's normally around £100 more i.e £250 and for that, I would consider the LG G4.
Hopefully should be a good upgrade to my Nexus 5, i'll miss the stock vanilla but not too fussed about these things now. As long as the battery is over a day and pictures are ok, then I will be happy.
specs wise i believe this phone has everything the S6 has?
edit... aside from screen res, but then i have an oculus rift DK2 so no problem with the low res
http://www.phonemore.com/compare/phones/vodafone-smart-ultra-6-vs-huawei-p8-dual-sim-ul00/2550318
I know P8 no dual sim straight out the box !
EmotionUI 3.1 isn't too bad. It has some useful features and doesn't seem to slow the devices down too much. For me though, I like to run vanilla and add what I need.
Although CPW lists this as 'black' it is actually known by Huawei as Titanium Grey.
cheers!
EDIT: Just had a confirmation text
As an aside, if I didn't already have a metallic P6, I would have definitely gone for this. Actually, I might still do :stuck_out_tongue:
Ordered for collection.
Which one to get???
Hopefully this means good riddance iPhone 4!
Bought 2 for my gf and I  I haven't had a new smartphone in years (was still on my S3 till recently)...... are screen protectors still necessary? I was thinking of buying a wallet style case for it so the screen would be protected that way anyway.....
Glad to hear that it's not a terrible OS implementation, I have terrible memories of previous phones with slow, bogged down in-house frontends, it's those phone that have given me a resistance to anything but stock (which my current Moto G runs pretty well).
Rom links here
Many thanks
bf just bought me a samsung galaxy j5 two days ago. so cannot really use this myself (otherwise i would) lol

Of course they are much cheaper from China but take a while to get here.
Whenever I see a Gearbeat etc deal on here I shudder.
For dual sim P8 you need the GRA-UL00 model.
I guess I'll just wait for the Honor 7 to drop in price then...
If only it had 4.5" screen (currently using Moto G 4G 1st Gen). I find 5"+ screens far too big for me but I guess if comes to push, I'll have to settle for 5" screen at max.:disappointed:
Titanium Grey, Mystic Champagne (16 GB model)
Carbon Black, Prestige Gold (64 GB model)
shes going to ask her colleagues if this phone is good. wonder if it will still be in stock if i wait for her answer in 24hours time? lol so anxious
her current 30 quids phone (when i bought it) is 2 year old and battery has problems.
PS This is surely the Titanium Grey as the Black is only available in 64GB AFAIK?
Smoking hot deal OP
Better camera, battery plus UK shop if anything goes wrong.
Thanks OP!
This phone is a bargain for £150 writing this post on one now.
I have a nice cheap Nillkin 'rubberised' shell type case and it's slight increased depth and with the cut out, makes the fingerprint scanner sensor even easier to locate and operate. Tip of the Day: I've 'registered' both my fore & second fingers on both hands, so it'll operate just about anyway you pick it up or hold it :-)
Order online anyway if you definitely wnt one
Looks good

Have read it wrong, this is actually the better version then
Thanks
But does anyone actually know?
The slightest graze on your finger or the slightest bit of moisture or sweat - and it refuses to accept it. I think that annoys me far more than having to enter a PIN.
Ordered- but going in to town to see if i can get my hands on one today.
Thanks OP

Thinking about selling my iPhone 6 and getting this, and banking the change. Sure, I'll miss some iPhone-specific features such as Touch ID and 'tap to top' scrolling, but I'll live.
Hot!
