Those who missed the 20GB for £20 from ID mobile, this is the next best I have found. I missed that and I am on the hunt for one now and bought this. Could anybody pl let me know if any cheaper 1 month rolling deals? This seems to be reasonable to me as of now!

Another daft question.. My contract ends in a few days but still have a fair bit of data left to use up- will that automatically be deemed useless on the end contract date or will I be able to use it till it does eventually finish? (I think the former, yes?)

Am I correct in thinking that this receives a 4G signal, but can then provide WIFI to any WIFI enabled (e.g.normally 3G) devices?
And can you log in to regularly check your remaining data balance?
preecey to Battenburg
23 Mar 161#119
You are correct.
And if it's on EE you can simply go to add-on.ee.co.uk to check your remaining allowances.
iD probably has an app or online portal for you to check your allowances.
If you do go down the EE route, your data will be capped so you can't run up unexpected bills. Once you hit your limit, your data will stop and any website you attempt to visit will redirect to add-on.ee.co.uk, where you are given the option to purchase more if you choose to.

23 Mar 161#118
Unfortunately not as it isn't a Pay As You Go SIM like the promo SIMs were.
As it's a contract a credit check will be made, but the criteria for approval will be more lenient as there isn't an expensive handset for the network to subsidise.

22 Mar 16#111
You can't go over the 15GB with EE unless you buy more data or upgrade your allowance over the phone.
Once you hit your limit, your data will stop and any website you attempt to visit will redirect to an add-on.ee.co.uk page asking if you would like to buy more data.
Vodafone is the network that stings you for going over and doesn't cap data.

You're correct. Phone up the day you receive it because you need to give 30 days notice of cancellation, therefore you'll only be charged for one month.

Does anyone know if it is possible to setup a data cap on the ee sim, so that it will block the data access once I used up all the allowance without incurring additional charges?
preecey to joeho
17 Mar 16#105
EE caps data automatically.
Once you hit your allowance you're stopped from using any more and are redirected to a screen asking if you want to buy more.
That's why I like EE so much.
elitom to joeho
17 Mar 16#106
It is capped automatically!
when your data allowance runs out the stops - no internet access
you then have the option to buy a one time only add-on - this will not be re-0ccuring, but also expires when your normal allowance refreshes
so for example use use your 15GB in say 27 days you can buy a £5 / 1GB add-on and this last until day 30/31 but if you do not use the whole 1GB the balance does not carry over !

pee poor service from CPW ! but result from EE !!
ordered click and collect and shop must have "forgotten" to scan the item in so I was not informed it was ready for collection - only enquired today and then spotted it was sent by DPD and checked online - delivered last Thursday !!
Went to the store and assistant told me they don't inform the customer that it has been delivered - it is the customers responsibility to track it on-line !
Quick call to CPW and the store has been escalated - they should scan the parcel in which triggers a SMS to say come get it !
BUT - called EE to cancel and got the 30 day line rental reduced to £15 for 15GB so 15 4 15

cashback in this instance is provided from one of 2 companies - topcashback and quidco
i'd recommend signing up to both (ask some friends if they use it as they can get some money for referring you)
from those 2 websites, you put in the name of the site you want to buy from e.g. pizza hut, carphone warehouse, aviva etc. it'll tell you what cashback you'll get e.g. 4% on all sales or £45 for taking out a policy. you then click the link and for that purchase, you get that much money into your account, which you can withdraw as cash or convert into amazon vouchers, tesco club card points etc. it may take a while to 'track' and 'pay out' (i.e. time between purchase and payment) but it's totally legit and you get a lot for purchases you'll make anyway. the best payouts are from things like insurance policies, mobile phone contracts etc, but even getting 27p back on a topshop order helps as it's free money and it all adds up

Quidco tracked for £25. Called up EE to cancel the day it arrived.
While exploring the webpage of the MiFi (192.168.8.1) noticed on the SMS tab a couple of text messages from EE. The latest one read:
Looking to verify if the device is really unlocked. Has anyone used a sim from another network on this device?

rec'd the unit today.. got straight on the phone to CPW to cancel the contract on 0800 0490049 (option 1, and so on)
they transferred me to EE who asked 101 questions as to why I wanted to cancel the contract (I said it was cos I'd found a better price from another provider)
was straight forward until the fella said that the contract would end on 31.03.16 and i'd get a final bill mid April to cover the extra days.. I thought 'huh?! i'm giving 30 days notice from day of receipt so shouldn't have owt extra to pay.
did a quick check to confirm what the date would be 30 days from today and it was the 29th of March (thanks to this link) queried it with him...and asked him to altered the end contract date which hedid so without hesitation..(dunno if he was being sneaky beforehand or it was a genuine mistake....:man: )
so REMAIN VIGILANT and check which date the contract should end before you incur any unwanted extra charges..
will stop the direct debit on the 6th as apparently it goes out on the 5th so i'll have to pay just the first £20 for this month ( bought this as I only needed the unlocked unit itself)

27 Feb 161#70
There is most definitly a difference in tethering: both same cell double speed EE:
rMBP connected via wifi EE to Huawei B315
rMBP connected via tethering to iPhone 6 EE
Both results below using BT speed checker http://speedtest.btwholesale.com on safari with rMBP:
B315:
DL- 53.63 Mbps
UL-19.31 Mbps
Ping- 41.00
Tethered to iphone 6 iOS 9.2.1 on EE double speed exactly same location 2 minutes later:
DL- 16.04 Mbps
UL-11.31 Mbps
Ping- 40.13
Fair dos the Huawei B315 is the 'Rolls Royce' of mifi, and maybe not ideal for travel, more a landline 'broadband' alternative.
hope this helps

27 Feb 16#69
I'm looking to get an unlimited everything rolling contract or the 20gb Vodafone deal (if EE have a good deal I'll move there...). It was more about any differences in quality and speed when comparing this MiFi vs phone tethering (using same signal) as I haven't heard much about these.
deany76
27 Feb 16#68
I guess there a few variables to consider.
First will the three signal be as good as EEs double speed where your using the mifi device or the tethering on your phone. Impossible to say however-
Overall EE is a better experience I believe.
So if reliability is important (and it will be for business) I would get an EE data sim.
Plus you have 'the best of both worlds' ie two networks. and you shouldn't run out of data as you can start using the other device.
However there is the extra cost to consider.
How much monthly data allowance do you get with three? and do you find you have much data left at the end of each month at present?

27 Feb 16#65
£1.33 per GB is still a lot.
15GB doesn't give you much to 'play with' in this day and age.
Many users may have to buy more (expensive) data before the month is up.
Fair play if you are a 'light' user like KH2 above.
For a one month rolling best I had (am now on a 24 month contract with EE) was 00.60p per GB (£30.00 1 month rolling but 50GB data) SIMO.

Be careful if you order by phone with CPW.
When i ordered mine by phone I confirmed with the guy twice it was 30day rolling contract. he even called me back a couple of hours later trying to sell me a second line or mobile contract!
When MIFI got delivered I was signed up for a 24mth contract!!
I was furious and went in-store to do the cancellation and buy a 30day one. The instore CPW guy processing the return and new purchase told me he's had a fair few of these happened before so he is not surprised at all. Apparently the guys on the phone can earn some sort of sales commission when they sell by phone, so they can you up for long contracts even though you confirm 30 days. you generally just dont have any proof of what you agreed by phone..

To manage the device I highly recommend the free Huawei HiLink app for Android (on Play store).

Also does it require a credit check before you can buy?
Thanks.
As it's a contract a credit check will be made, but the criteria for approval will be more lenient as there isn't an expensive handset for the network to subsidise.
and yes standard micro USB

Rechargeable battery i assume?
It charges via the usb lead?
I have a portable battery (10,000ma)... Just stick it onto that or any standard micro usb charger while I'm at home?
Thanks for the help
you may even get £25 quidco - worst case £20 for the mifi unit
only thing to factor in is a power supply for the mifi - it only comes with a USB lead and battery
EliTom
Quidco still looking good also, anyone know if this can be capped at the 15GB, I don't want to be going over it etc

Once you hit your limit, your data will stop and any website you attempt to visit will redirect to an add-on.ee.co.uk page asking if you would like to buy more data.
Vodafone is the network that stings you for going over and doesn't cap data.
Thanx for your quick response
£67.39

Once you hit your allowance you're stopped from using any more and are redirected to a screen asking if you want to buy more.
That's why I like EE so much.
when your data allowance runs out the stops - no internet access
you then have the option to buy a one time only add-on - this will not be re-0ccuring, but also expires when your normal allowance refreshes
so for example use use your 15GB in say 27 days you can buy a £5 / 1GB add-on and this last until day 30/31 but if you do not use the whole 1GB the balance does not carry over !

ordered click and collect and shop must have "forgotten" to scan the item in so I was not informed it was ready for collection - only enquired today and then spotted it was sent by DPD and checked online - delivered last Thursday !!

Incidentally, when I tried the 3 SIM from my phone, while attempting to access the web they redirected me to a page that said:
Tried a data SIM from 3 and that worked.
And please how I can follow the step to get the cashback benefit for this deals.
Thanks
i'd recommend signing up to both (ask some friends if they use it as they can get some money for referring you)
from those 2 websites, you put in the name of the site you want to buy from e.g. pizza hut, carphone warehouse, aviva etc. it'll tell you what cashback you'll get e.g. 4% on all sales or £45 for taking out a policy. you then click the link and for that purchase, you get that much money into your account, which you can withdraw as cash or convert into amazon vouchers, tesco club card points etc. it may take a while to 'track' and 'pay out' (i.e. time between purchase and payment) but it's totally legit and you get a lot for purchases you'll make anyway. the best payouts are from things like insurance policies, mobile phone contracts etc, but even getting 27p back on a topshop order helps as it's free money and it all adds up
While exploring the webpage of the MiFi (192.168.8.1) noticed on the SMS tab a couple of text messages from EE. The latest one read:
Looking to verify if the device is really unlocked. Has anyone used a sim from another network on this device?
If I managed to get hold of another 4G SIM would it be a matter of creating a new profile with username/password/APN name setting for the other network?

was told the order will be processed and accepted
haven't heard anything since
Also rang Carphone wharehouse to cancel they said needed to speak to EE so rang them on 0800 956 6000
Choose options to cancel mobile brioadband and entered sim card number .
Told CR needed it for a moth only and had no further need so please cancel apparently the first month for me ends on the 26 March I am fine with that, although could have argued it was today as only just received it, so will give it a few days for £20 payment to go then cancel DD.
Hope that helps those that only wanted the unlocked Mifi.
Zeberdys
they transferred me to EE who asked 101 questions as to why I wanted to cancel the contract (I said it was cos I'd found a better price from another provider)
was straight forward until the fella said that the contract would end on 31.03.16 and i'd get a final bill mid April to cover the extra days.. I thought 'huh?! i'm giving 30 days notice from day of receipt so shouldn't have owt extra to pay.
did a quick check to confirm what the date would be 30 days from today and it was the 29th of March (thanks to this link) queried it with him...and asked him to altered the end contract date which hedid so without hesitation..(dunno if he was being sneaky beforehand or it was a genuine mistake....:man: )
so REMAIN VIGILANT and check which date the contract should end before you incur any unwanted extra charges..
will stop the direct debit on the 6th as apparently it goes out on the 5th so i'll have to pay just the first £20 for this month ( bought this as I only needed the unlocked unit itself)
rMBP connected via wifi EE to Huawei B315
rMBP connected via tethering to iPhone 6 EE
First will the three signal be as good as EEs double speed where your using the mifi device or the tethering on your phone. Impossible to say however-
Overall EE is a better experience I believe.
So if reliability is important (and it will be for business) I would get an EE data sim.
Plus you have 'the best of both worlds' ie two networks. and you shouldn't run out of data as you can start using the other device.
However there is the extra cost to consider.
How much monthly data allowance do you get with three? and do you find you have much data left at the end of each month at present?
15GB doesn't give you much to 'play with' in this day and age.
Many users may have to buy more (expensive) data before the month is up.
Fair play if you are a 'light' user like KH2 above.
For a one month rolling best I had (am now on a 24 month contract with EE) was 00.60p per GB (£30.00 1 month rolling but 50GB data) SIMO.
if you have kids or stream audio/video it probably won't do.
The battery life is about 4 hours continuous use.
But I got my cash back from the bank
Wonder if click n collect is the safer option..
The customer service is difficult getting thourh too.
Viable?
Ball park figure will do
To manage the device I highly recommend the free Huawei HiLink app for Android (on Play store).

What kind of charging port does it have?
This model seems to be going for £40+ on eBay (brand new) so can't fall off.
I've been looking for one of these for when I go to New York and use a Three SIM card.
I totally agree. This was discussed in one of the previous HUKD forums about the IDmobile data deals.
It's only LTE cat 4, not LTE cat 6 unfortunately. Still a good price though
