Sorry if naff deal but my first post and thought was a good deal.

ao.com offering tv for £699 but use code feb40 for £40 off bringing to £659 and believe you can also get 4% from quidco.

Sorry no picture but link will show you

The new Hisense K700 / EC730 UHD TV series combines 4K UHD resolution, quad-core processing, a wide colour range and one-touch Netflix access wrapped up in a super slim design. Measuring a mere 3.5 cm deep at their thinnest point this TVs screen size comes in at an impressive 58” (146cm). A quite stunning television!

It's hardly a budget brand TV. They're 4th largest TV manufacturer in the world and their 65XT910 from last year is, arguably, better than the top-end Samsung UE65JS9500 which typically costs over £1,000 more. Whilst some argue that it's better overall, without considering price, it's DEFINITELY better on a price/quality perspective.

If you don't realise this, I suggest you go read some of the AV Forum topics as opposed to remaining under the false illusion that Sony/Samsung have much chance of remaining the most highly regarded (incorrectly) TV's on the market.

Alternatively, wait for the Euro 2016, sponsored by Hisense, before realising that Hisense are going to make it in a big way in the UK market over the next couple of years.

It's true that Hisense TV's can currently be bought on a budget. Does that mean that the quality suffers compared to the equivalently priced models from Sony/Samsung/Panasonic/LG? The answer to this question is a resounding NO!

If a 'supposed' TV repair man doesn't want me to buy a particular brand of TV, then that's the brand that's gonna be on the top of my list of prospective purchases.

The reason I say 'supposed' is because I find it hard to believe that someone in the industry isn't aware of the up-and-coming nature of Hisense as a brand in the UK market.

In a similar manner, I'd expect a car mechanic to tell me to stay away from Honda.

Why vote cold because you can have another store pricematch? Surely this is the cheaper deal and the fact that it's alerted you to the AO price, giving you the option to seek a pricematch, means the deal is hot?

Down-voting deals like this just acts as a deterrent for users to post TV deals from ANY seller except for Richer Sounds and means you could miss out on an opportunity in the future.

Thank you. I've been researching these Hisense models for weeks and wrote the incorrect feature in my post.
marathonic
3 Feb 16 #32
I believe the main differences are that the 58K700 is a flat edge-lit 58" with 3D whilst the 55K720 is a curved direct-lit 55" without 3D.

Reviews appear to suggest that the K720 is, indeed, the better model for picture quality.

They recently bought the Sharp US operations - but Hisense aren't a rebranded Sharp TV and, likewise, Sharp aren't a rebranded Hisense TV (yet).

Doesn't have local dimming? 55K720 is supposed to be the better option? Unless you want 58 flat against 55 curved.

very decent price. paid 699 from RS with 6 yr warranty. but still a great price. also this TV is not budget. it's quite premium as stated in the 65 inch version of this. also I tried to calibrate this TV over the weekend thinking an hour would do the job. but this set has such an extensive amount if colour calibration it took me an hour just to make sure the white balance is spot on. it's a great that a TV at this price bracket can offer such great deal of tunable options. the white balance has tunable gain and saturation as well as a 10 point tunable RGB adjustment. so its highly extensive. the colour adjustment is based on primary as well as secondary colours so it will give you perfect colour balance. this is a 10bit panel I believe therefore you will get a much wider colour space which will add to the visual effects. so I am super excited to get this fully calibrated. oh. I also measured a black level of .015 CD/m2 on 10% grey which is quite incredible and this is due to the excellent local dimming although not very sophisticated but works alright.

Hi. I'd be interested to know what your settings are. Could you post them please?

2 Feb 16 #26
ey, Hisense has engineers repairing their own TV so if you are not contracted by Hisense then how do you know? also Hisense TV are relative new and all their TV are covered by their own 2 year warranty which means all of their TVs will be returned to them and sent to factory for repair if necessary so where does an independent TV repairer comes into play here? you are really trying to middle the water here.
Soothsayer
1 Feb 16 #16
You would need to know the true figure of all tvs sold before the percentage repaired has any relevance (sorry couldn't resist!)
PS awaiting delivery of a Hisense. I've never been a fan of active 3d. Would a current owner care to comment as to whether or not the flicker evident on the early 3d sets is still apparent?
wong_go_wild to Soothsayer
2 Feb 16 #24
the 3D works really well. I hate active because the bulky glasses but the Hisense ones are just like the passive ones in terms of weight and bulk. I watched gravity in 3D, its pretty mind blowing...the scene when clooney catches a loose bolt when repairing the Hubble made me grab out for the bolt as it felt it was coming right at me and hitting me.

Here we go again. The great should I/shouldn't I buy a Hisense debate. I too was dubious but having owned the 58K700 for a month I still can't believe how good this TV is. A 58" 4K 3D TV for £699 with 2 year manufacturer guarantee (with 6 year warranty from RS). Personally I am so happy with my choice but if you don't own one then how can you have a real opinion on them?
blackrat62
2 Feb 16 #20
So, you are asking us to call Walmart cutomer service (do you mean Asda?) and ask them if their return rate on a £249 tv from hisense has a high return rate and this proves the much larger more expensive TV from the same manufacturer must be as bad. If you are the troll (sorry, expert) why don't you give us the facts rather than all of us calling tomorrow? Facts please, expert.

you need the true figure of all manufactures before the number of hisense tvs returned has any relevance. not the kind of information they would disclose.

so as a tv repair man why don't you tell us the percentage of tv's you repair for each manufacturer?
cheekyboy44
1 Feb 16 #14
I am aware of "Hisense" and gave my opinion on them. If it makes you happier I will add heat.
If you need more information Call Walmart customer services in the morning and ask for a true figure of returns in the past 3 months for their £249 Hisense TV's. I'm out

Sorry you voted cold and Richer Sounds do the 6 year warranty so I understand maybe not voting hot but I thought was good value with added discount and as stated it's my first post so maybe I should have looked into it further

Thanks for your comments. Only reviews I have read is positive and people saying the minor issues it had are all fixed through firmware update. Again I'm not too clever on all this but sounded pretty straightforward.

I also agree Hisense are up and coming brand name. I was gonna buy a Samsung and have had many Samsung TVs but thought for the price and size etc was a good deal.
