One day people will wake up and realize the 'fantastic' Aldi & Lidl goods are no cheaper (or better) than the main supermarket brands. It makes me laugh when Aldi/Lidl show the adverts on the TV because they always compare their goods to Premium brands, not supermarket own brand equivalents, giving the false illusion they are "significantly" cheaper.
Anyway - back on topic - good price for Heinz beanz - will be going later for some i think
Heinz beans, are good for your heart!
The more you eat, the more you fart!
The more you fart, the better you feel,
So let's have beans for every meal!

Beans, beans, they give you gas
They make you fart, and burn your ass
The more you eat, the more it hurts
So slow down your eating to stop the squirts

Just full fat? :-/ Not that I'm going to accuse Heinz of trying to get kids addicted to sugar or anything.

23 Feb 161#13
Yes the small amount of sugar in them is going to make them addicted. :stuck_out_tongue:
There's about the same amount of sugar in milk. Beans are 1 of your 5 a day and high in protein and fibre, there are worse things to eat.

Voted hot for deal - BUT
Heinz beans imho not worth buying nowadays. I much prefer Lidl, Aldi or Waitrose own brands.
And boy, have I done some research .......
Why would you when you can get 4 x Branston beans for £1.29 or 6 Heinz for £2 at Lidl ? And has been those prices for weeks . Hardly a deal :disappointed: Some folks are too easily pleased

Overpriced & horrible beans.

Often on offer at £1.27 for 4 in various shops. This is a good deal but not great, IMO.

What a ridiculous statement to make.

24 Feb 16#20
ok you've never had them - Cover your eyes and get someone to give you 2 bowls of beans, one of each brand (Asda SP and Aldi/Lidl) as a blind taste test. You WILL struggle to tell them apart.

I agree. They think we are idiots, love the shop but hate the adverts. At Christmas they were comparing 2 fridges, one with Moet and Chandon Champagne and one with Aldi Champagne. Both exactly the same...not! Tesco treat us like idiots with their campaigns too then wonder why we all hate them  Anyway back on topic, good price but prefer Branston, hate the Aldi, Asda, Tesco and Lidl ones.

It's only 4 tins for £2 in Lidl - and has been for months...

24 Feb 16#23
Not as good as the OP's deal - which is super hot for Heinz beans - but if you have a Farmfoods nearby they have had 5 tin packs of Heinz beans for £2 for a while now.

Just to give you one example where your rough rule of thumb breaks down, go & try Lidl's "own brand" Maribel raspberry conserve (99p) and tell me that it is not every bit as good as any of the premium branded jams on sale for £1.70 or more.. (Bonne Maman jam is £2.28 in Tesco currently).
The key benefit of shopping in Aldi or Lidl is not getting garbage food more cheaply than anywhere else but getting premium quality foods far more cheaply than their branded cousins elsewhere, as long as you know what to look for.

That's probably the cheapest I have seen a can of Heinz baked beans (in recent times).
Watered down sauce, inferior to what they used to be. Much prefer Branston.
Good price if you are a fan.

Because i like Heinz and theres no Lidl near me

24 Feb 16#39
I disagree. I've tried the own brands and lidl etc but they don't touch Heinz.
The only beans I think are even yummier but way too expensive or whole eat the baked beans from waitrose.

I think the bean sauce ratio in these is poor. Higher bean content with Lidl.

No, I think you've made a mistake. I saw them in my local for £2.99

Pretty much whatever brand you buy, cook them until the sauce thickens, then add a big knob of butter and loads of black pepper. One of the TV chefs suggested it about 20 years ago - in my humble opinion, the best way to eat them!

Spot on. This transforms a tin of baked beans. I've recently taken to adding a pinch of salt and sugar also (to make up for the amount that has been removed by manufacturers over the last few years).
