Highlight of this week's Canadian PSN deals is easily the Rockstar sale, including GTA V on PS4 for the equivalent of £22.75.
I created a Canadian account a few nights ago for Firewatch, and took about 20 minutes from scratch. Here's how:
1. created a brand new Gmail address
2. created a brand new PSN account using my browser, with some random Burger King in Toronto as my address, and verified via the new Gmail account
3. signed up for a brand new account on PCGameSupply and verified via text
4. bought $20 CAD on PCGameSupply (via PayPal) and waited a couple of minutes for the code to pop up
5. set up the new PSN account on my PS4, and set my machine as primary (it actually prompts you to do this)
6. went onto the PlayStation Store, and redeemed my code against Firewatch
Up'd + respect for putting how to set up a Can. account!

Thanks for the GTA trilogy heads up. Looked and it was $25-30 on the weekend. I would of got GTA V, that's an awesome price. But the save file won't be compatible with my current one.
Finally made my Canadian account a few days back, I'd held off using the 'two's company, three's a crowd' analogy beforehand (already have UK and US). But the $2 CD to £1 did it for me.

To me it emphasises why it's worth holding on to your older consoles, especially the PS3! The games are never going to be compatible on PS4 and from what I can make out whenever PS5 comes out that won't support them either because of how complex/incompatible the last gen system was.
Funnily enough I've actually been oohing and ahhing about a solitary red 500 gig with two controllers bundle I've seen sat in a shop close by to where I'm located in Austria but I can't justify the €299 tag, if it was €199 I'd have snapped it up straight away.
I go in there and/or look on the retailer's website daily to see if they doing any kind of deal as I will be down there in a shot. I just hope being patient pays off because if someone else grabs it I know I'll end up regretting I didn't get it, even at the higher price it's sat on now.

My save file is from a UK disc copy. I wouldn't think that would work with a Canadian digital copy of GTA V. That's unless I've got that wrong. Can anyone confirm either way?

17 Feb 16#33
Yes it is stupid. They could have made them cross buy if you owned it on PS3 or even could have gave a discount. These PS2 to PS4 is a cash grab just like PS Now is. Sony just think they can get away scamming people because they are in the sales lead.

17 Feb 16#37
Even if they ever manage PS3 emulation Sony will never allow discs. Just look at how they have managed PS2 games on PS4. All they need to do is allow the console to play the PS2 disc but they aren't because they are money hungry. If they ever manage PS3 "classics" which would be pointless as almost every decent PS3 game is getting remastered they will force people to buy them again.

You sure can. You're really just switching to the Canadian account temporarily to access their store and initiate the download. Switch back, and once the download's complete, your game(s) will be available to play from the dashboard of your UK account, along with trophies and whatnot. Easy!

Very good point that, when you think of this muggy rip off streaming PS Now thing they're doing at 13 quid month, plenty of games on there granted but over 90% of them are pony, like you didn't rate em when they was fresh 5/10/15 years ago so never mind now.
My life I paid only a couple quid more than that for a year's EA Access sub on my Xbone and ok that's not got that many titles but they're all pretty recent games on that, like a year old or so onwards.
I'm going over the trading estate again in a minute so will have my usual daily stalk of that aforementioned PS3, even chatting about in here keeps making my Maestro card itch.
And to be honest I don't even know why I always check their website because that's only got the that monkey mark 2 slim 12 gig on there anyway so I doubt they'll ever do/announce a PS3 promo on there again. It's a case of my local branch having a surplus machine sat on the shelf that never got sold when those various coloured superslim 500 gigs were bundled with a couple of controllers however many years ago that was.
I made the suicidal mistake of selling a mint 'Funtastic' N64 in orange to a mate with a load of games for 50 quid to go towards buying a PS2 on release, the consoles by themselves go for a couple of hundred quid nowadays  can't help thinking this red PS3 may well hold it's price over the years like those N64's have.

I just checked and I still got $9.52 on my American PSN account I never used from when I bought Stick of Truth at launch with a Cartman avatar, the most annoying thing about that was I couldn't even use the avatar on my regular UK/EU PSN account.
Any DLC add ons or digital extras like avatars and themes stay locked in to the North American account, well I believe they do so if I'm wrong please someone put me right
voyager123
17 Feb 16#47
DLC can be used if you buy it from the region the game is from, and it can be played in your uk account not sure about avatars
Chasloyal
17 Feb 16#49
Perhaps they changed it then, I was under the impression if you had a 'North American' game be it disc or digital you would have to play it on the North American PSN account to access any DLC that comes with it.
As in not just obviously redeeming the DLC codes through the American one but you'd have to stay logged in to that account to play/use the DLC.
I had to register a monkey address in Vermont to be able to buy the US PSN credit off amazon.com the only time I did it, was advised Vermont was purchase tax free at the time
Edit: just to clarify, I played that South Park game on my UK account but had I bought any DLC for it I would have to have played it on the American account to make use of it

Fantastic deal on GTA 5. Thanks for this OP, I've wanted it for a while but didn't fancy paying a fortune. Also kudos for including the steps to actually buy it.
Might seem like a silly question but I have like $4 left over after buying the game. Just wondering if I can use that to buy some Shark Cash from the Canadian store and use that cash when I'm playing the game on my main UK PS4 account? Hope that makes sense.
silvercondor to Squashie
18 Feb 161#59
Hey dude! No worries. I don't have much experience tinkering with Shark Cash myself, but I notice there's a $2.99 'Red' bundle on PSN Canada, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to grab that.
voyager123
18 Feb 16#60
But as long as you buy it from the region the game is from you can play to on your uk account. Got pirate warriors 3 and its season pass from the Canadian store and I can play with the extra stuff on my uk account. Granted you need to download it and install it from the Canadian account fisrt
Whoops didn't read they had the uk disc then no they can't but as I said if you get the DLC and bar game from same store you can

Nah, you can't pay with card details or a PayPal account based in the UK. I believe it's technically possible to set up a PayPal account with a Canadian address, but it's a little more complicated than the process outlined above.
Incidentally, I think this might be how PSN Canada circumvents its obligation to verify its customers are from Canada i.e. it won't accept foreign cards or PayPal accounts, but if people somehow obtain PSN credit from third parties, well, it can't exactly stop them.
