Good deal for a fully fitted well reviewed tyre.....
Just a word on what to expect from these. About 6 months ago I put 4 of these on my car. Initially I was shocked by how thin the walls were, they felt more like something akin to a bike tyre than a car tyre. They are so thin and have no inherent strength at all. So I had all 4 fitted and the whole ride of the car changed, the car pitched and rolled round corners and roundabouts. It felt really odd and very disconcerting. Its not all bad though, they did handle very well under breaking, especially in the wet.
Then in the space of a week I had 2 punchers, one being massive tear on the side wall and the other in the tread.
I changed them all out for some Cooper Zeon CS6's. Formula 1 will try and sell these for about £65 - £70 fully fitted as they come with a warranty. If you get a puncture they will fix or replace the tyre, its 100% of the price up to 6mm dropping to 20% at 3mm. Formula 1 will also price match on this tyre AND include the warranty, almost. I quoted an internet price of £47, they said they could fit and include the warranty for £55. The handling has dramatically improved and breaking seems to be fine. If you have a tyre replaced under the warranty I think they charge you a fitting charge of £12.
I'm sure plenty of folks will have issues with these tyres and some wont. Its all good. They work for me and aren't to expensive.

Also get ready for them to tell you when you go to get the tyres fitted that they don't actually have the Goodyear Efficient Grips in stock but "they can fit an equivalent brand"

Great price but I had a couple of these and the sidewalls are very soft and unlike any other tyre I've ever come across. I hit a pothole recently and the sidewall punctured... not sure whether another tyre would have suffered the same fate but I won't get these again.

Glad you warned me - I was about to buy 2 of these to replace Uniroyal Rainexperts which have suffered a similar fate (they seemed like a good choice for Glasgow's climate, but turned out to be a bad choice for Glasgow's roads).

My experience is the opposite with these. Absolutely loads of feel for spirited driving, good ratings, I put my confidence in these tyres. Wouldn't go for anything else.

Had the same issue with these, very soft sided. Wife hit a pothole and that was it it was only on the car a few days as well.

Sounds like it's been run under inflated, the running damaging the inner sidewall and the shock of the pothole enough to break through. Look for debris inside the tyre.

They're at Vauxhall's recommended PSI, in fact these tyres always look flat (due to soft sidewalls I think) - I'm not saying they're bad tyres but they've been bad for me and I'm not alone according to reviews (but many tyre reviews are bad, regardless of make/model)
Like I say, good price but for me, any tyre I can poke my finger easily into the sidewall rings alarm bells.

Wife borrowed my car and decided to park by running over the pavement - destroyed the side wall completely, never realised side wall issues until I did some research after this happened last week. The wear on these tyres are great on my vw touran I had done 12k miles and they still had 4mm left but will get stronger side wall tyre next time.

I love these tyres, great grip cornering etc and I love F1 Autocentres. Just had my MOT done by them and, unlike with Halfords, I passed and don't feel I was being treated like a silly woman who knew nothing about cars.

I think mine work well on wet roads and decent raods/motorways they seem fine but I don't think they're anywhere near as durable....the sidewalls feel soft and cheeselike (seriously squidgy!) you can poke your finger into the sidewalls and it has quite a bit of flex whereas any other tyre I've had would have a very rigid sidewall.
I have an Astra H estate and maybe they're better on smaller cars...plus I live in a village with pretty poor roads (but then again most towns have massive potholes theses days!)

Also they seem to charge you for wheel alignment, just another way of extracting more cash!
We caught them out, had my car serviced with free wheel alignment and required 2 new tyres 2.2mm (ish) so popped down to our local centre and "oh your wheel alignment is slightly out?"....I don't think so!

Are you suggesting that car tyre fitters are possibly slightly devious and make customers spend on unnecessary work that they often don't actually do (wheel balancing done by hitting wheel with hammer to indicate 'work' being done, new exhaust brackets required that aren't there when you check, oil levels topped up that aren't, free checks winter checks that always discover a fault so dangerous they can't let you drive the car home?

Their business model appears to be to break even from the tyres themselves & to profit from the add-ons.
No different to a restaurant charging the earth for a white roll & butter to have with your main meal.
You can say 'no thanks'. Simply go prepared with a polite but firm line of: I'm on a budget / It's my Auntie's car / I live up a bumpy drive so alignment will be out again by the time I get home / one of your own choice.
Never had a problem with F1Autocentres. Used them for new tyres several times and a very cheap MOT and they have never tried to up sell. They have only ever done what I have asked for.

Seems good price fitted, I have bounced around tyre brands and loved Michelin but decided to go midrange a while back when cash was tight and have stuck with Falken since. Would say though I have always got the XL versions even if they are not required there usually very little difference in cost and give me peace of mind that the tyre is designed to cope with more stress. If worried about weak sidewalls would the 94w XL version of the goodyear perform better, has anyone had a pothole blowout on the extra load version?

I wanted wet weather performance. I chose them following this review plus other feedback. It's an A-rated tyre in the wet.
I haven't noticed any problem with sidewall stiffness in corners on mine, not sure whether that's because I went for the W speed rated ones instead of V. They seem to give as good feel as the Eagle F1s I previously had.
The one down side of these tyres for me is that they don't have rim protection, so I'm always a little worried about kerbing my alloys.

They are designed primarily for wet weather safety and fuel economy i.e low rolling resistance, not outright handling performance which is really what you want on a Golf R- it's already Haldex 4WD as it is and hardly needs wet weather tyres!
They are not at all a BAD choice, but a very odd one for a car like a Golf R. It's like wearing wellies for running track because it might rain.
SportContact6, Pilot Sports or the latest generation Eagle F1 is much more appropriate, offering considerably more maximum dry performance but still better than average in the wet. Each to their own though, I only observed the oddness of it.
