who votes negative on stuff like this?

28 Feb 161#41
There are no rules on voting hot or cold, only made up rules by people who disagree with their perception of how the voting should be.
Interestingly you ask what 'type' of person votes cold on this deal as if there's a specific type of person, they do not agree with me they are that type of person, now I know what type they are I can exclude them from my life, I have a definitive picture and description of the type of person that votes cold on 'stuff like this'.
What would happen if you found out that there was a specific type of person that votes cold on stuff like this? What would you do? Also what would happen if there is literally no type of person, but many types of person all with different personalities who voted cold on this deal? Would it cause you confusion?
It's good to question things but it's also good to question important things. Of course voting cold or hot on any deal here is of no consequence to me, I have to step in to the mindset of some one else that does care, I've decided that it's irrational to care, but everyone is different of course and I'm sure you can't pin down the no voters to a specific type, you can't quantise them for ease of comfort in your thinking.
It's OK to feel uncomfortable, it's OK for things not to work out as you imagine them to. It's OK to question things.

Depends on how clean the environment is kept, in which the case will be placed.

I'm like you then! Always buy a new case and decide "Yep, this is the last one I'll buy", but then get bored and decide to switch it up again.
I've gutted out the drive trays from my R4 (moved the hard drives to the 5.25" bay) and removed the sound insulated grills, mainly because my heatsink was trapping hot air up the top of the case. Also the side grill open means the GPU gets access to more air as I was finding it was trapping between that and the heatsink :/.
The main problem for me is I have an E-ATX motherboard so the R4 isn't really suitable. I've had my eyes on the Corsair Carbide Air 540 for a while, but not gonna take the leap til it drops <£100, though.

I have the R4 in white. The plastic facia discolours after a while and it's a pita to clean the little vents down the side if you wanna keep it as new.

Many years ago a mate of mine purchased a white Define R4 case specifically so that he wouldn't notice all the dust on it (dust is usually white-ish looking, lol!). I myself went for a black R4 and have been happy with it.
@Elevation
Didn't cut myself when building my current desktop rig. I have owned a Lian Li case in the past and I am surprised more case manufacturers don't include those rubber slip on strips to cover sharp steel edges though.
My Define R4 case has an adjustable 3-speed fan controller. I upgraded two of the case fans to 140mm Silent Wings fans and on the lowest fan setting I can still hear the fans spinning even when the PC is on but doing nothing. Had a look around the BIOS but couldn't see any settings where I could set fan speeds and at which temperature they kick in. Do I need to install third party software for this, if so any recommendations please?
Thanks.

I've got the black one and it's a really nice case. Dead quiet. Was easy to build in, relatively speaking of course! There's nice cable management around the back, looks very clean when finished. Paid £82 or so and have no regrets whatsoever, so this feels a great deal to me.

To be honest I wanted a mini case but as I've got a sapphire r9 390 I have to have a full case. Especially now I bought a Z170 mobo... For some reason I always end up doing this, buying the bargains and building around them!
robodan918 to teggl97
28 Feb 16#26
That's the beautiful thing about the isk600. It's the smallest case that can comfortably fit 12.5" cards. I have an r9 290 in mine. Wanted the 390 but beyond my budget for now. It's much better in 4k than the 290, but many reviews show similar performance in 1080p and since my projector is 1080p and 4k isn't getting cheaper any time soon it made logical sense

Man don't put me off I already started ordering lol. I've gone for this case, msi z170 gaming 5, 32gb ddr4, 6600k, r9 390. The Fractal r4 is pretty quiet so hope this follows suit.

Sounds like a good setup mate! 32gig ram would be overkill for me but it depends how you're planning on using it of course.
My advice would be don't hang around. You don't want to wait forever for the best prices to get the parts together, then by the time you've built it you find out somethings bust on arrival and you've left it till past the 30 day or whatever return window.

Thanks for the tips. I might look into that case for my next build then. I've only got a 1440p monitor, this card manages to hold 60fps on ultra for most games. Will probably end up selling it when pascal comes out.

All sounds very fancy but are you STILL just going to cut your hands to shreds working inside one of these? That seems like some kind of holy grail that I've only seen in Lian-Li cases so far. I'm assuming that among all those "enthusiast orientated features", no sharp edges didn't feature...?

You do get the standard 4 knife sharp edges around the I/O shield. The insides are nice and smooth though. Blood and sweat definitely went into the making of mine, maybe even some tears.

I think I have one of the front and the exhaust fan on my switch, and additional front and CPU fan running via fanspeed / speedfan.
There is a bit of configuration to do once installed that can make you feel like stamping the pc to death. Stick with it though, holler if you get stuck.
