My PS+ has lapsed about 6 months now. Not a big online gamer and the selection of free PS4 games just dont do it for me.

Definately not the bargain it was during the PS3 days.

Sony happened. The golden days of the PS3 were just a marketing trick to ease us into paying for multiplayer. Now PS4 is in the sales lead Sony has gotten greedy and complacent and don't have any incentive to treat gamers well. 4theplayers my ass.

The sale on Lemmings Touch ended automatically at midnight, but the Plus didn't activate automatically, so it was full price when I went to sleep. It probably just needed whoever to go into the offices and turn it on manually, as it's live now. Load up yer baskets, and don't forget to be open minded and give them all a try. :innocent:

This is actually true tbh. All of the money Sony makes on PS Plus goes into the massive debt they have. The PS3 cost them billions.

28 Jan 16 #149
Why would I delete my account you goon. And yes obviously it costs money but not much of the money from Plus subscription goes towards it if anything. PSN was free to use for multiple devices for 7 years and still is for those devices. PS4 requiring Plus is just a way for Sony to make a load of money, I you can't see that then you are just stupid.

You dont really believe they are doing it to thank the gamers do you?
Look how many PS4s have been sold since launch and assume half have PS+ subs, its an absolute fortune, Sony are making a mint out it.

My personal gripe is that I only ocassionaly play online, perhaps an hour a month if that. All the games given away dont appeal to me but im sure they are decent enough and appeal to others.

]So is it really worth me spending £35 a year for the odd shot of COD?

Instead of paying large amounts of money to developers each month as you put it, Sony should have left Multiplayer free and people could have bought these games as needed.

Either that or have a seperate online only package at a reduced rate.

Im sure im not the only one in this position.

Too many idiots on here. still whining about games that in their opinion isn't good enough. Big shocker here but you can't please everyone all the time. My money I spend on ps+ is the same value as anyone else's and I'm happy with what Sony do. Same with Microsoft, neither have to give you these games and both pay large amounts of money to developers each month to get you these games for your library basically as a thank you for subscribing to their online service. Now every body moaning pull your F****ing heads out your behinds and grow up. Don't like them don't download them and buy the games you want to play instead of being tight and complaining you arnt getting stuff for free. Such a first world problem.

Rant over.

Shut up you complete fool. You really think the money for Plus goes towards online hahaha. PS is just required to play online to force you to buy Plus... Most the money goes towards the games.... Remember the PS3 and Vita require no Plus for online.... Another clueless person

When it was announced that a PS+ membership was required to play PS4 online, I said that the quality of the free games offered each month wouldn't be as good as it was during the PS3 days. They know all you shooter and FIFA fans need to play online so you aren't going to cancel your Plus membership. They don't have to give you great games every month to keep that subscription money rolling in. I called it. Go back and check.

28 Jan 16 #136
Yes, but things change. Prices are always going up. Look what you can buy for x compared to what you could 5-10 years ago. Just because it was free on PS3 doesn't mean it will always be so. My main point is for the very minimal cost, it's still not a bad deal overall.

The 2 services thing is a good idea, but I imagine never going to happen.
Splashmo
28 Jan 16 1 #134
I know it's the HKUD way, but why are people moaning? Helldivers looks a really good game, and PS+ is mainly paying for the online servers for gaming.

For £2.50-3 a month, people need to get some perspective.

I can say this happy in the knowledge this isn't reddit, so I cannot be downvoted by all the whingebags :man:
callum84 to Splashmo
28 Jan 16 1 #135
Because PS+ has always been about the games. Remember theres was no online charge on PS3.
The name implies that your getting something extra not just being able to use your PS4 for which it was designed.

Obviously they cant give games each month that appeal to everyone but the problem is that the games seem to appeal to the one group.

I can honestly say since launch ive only enjoyed 1 game they have given away for PS4 whereas on PS3 previously the games were flowing.

I dont see much point moaning about the choice of games each month hence why Ive not renewed my plus.

I would prefer if Sony had 2 seperate services.
One for online play at roughly half the price of plus.
And PS+ where online play is included and people who want the free games can sign up by choice.

28 Jan 16 #116
To continue using the games you need to continue being a member of PlayStation Plus for which a subscription fee is incurred month-on-month, year-on-year.

Hence, you are effectively renting the "free" games. This is certainly the case if you are a PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, &/or PlayStation Portable console owner, as access to online gaming does not require a subscription to PlayStation Plus.

With ownership of a PlayStation 4 there is another reason to maintain the annual subscription; continued access to online gaming components.

For the benefit of clarity: Any game purchased using a discount applied because of a subscription to PlayStation Plus remains available to you should your subscription lapse. Any "free" game is not available, & will remain that way until the subscription is renewed.

There is some discussion about the service in this thread:

Gears of War 2 was given away free to everyone who had the GOW:U on XB1. And Styx was given away free on PS+ before. So yeah...

Helldivers is good. The others, not so much for me.
Dichotomy to davidgregory9480
28 Jan 16 #125
I'm pretty sure you don't get to keep the Xbox One games unless you stay subscribed. As for being eclipsed you get Hand of Fate which looks like it might be a bit messy as a card game/action game hybrid, Styx which was free on plus 6 months ago and then two last gen titles, one of which looks mediocre.

The truth is neither service is close to the offerings we got on the PS3 through plus, although I'm fine with that since I usually had any plus games I wanted a year or two before they came to plus and am happy to give Helldivers a go this month. On the PS3 side I want to give P4A a go since I like the characters from the Persona series. Having a few more games for the Vita is also never a bad thing. I'll take my 6 games over your 4, especially as I already have the best one of them.

I cant argue with some of the games, Outlast , Binding of Isaac , Rocket League and Don't Starve are excellent.

But please Sony, step it up.

Because it costs £40 per year and rarely discounted. I can get £60 psn credit for £20 but I still hate/refrain spending it on an annual PSN Plus subscription.

Also I have no interest in one man band indie games. I dont care how good they supposedly are. I want to play Tomb Raider, Metal Gear etc

If I want indie games I would use my mobile phone/tablet.

Shovel Knight, Terraira (spelling?) just look crap to even consider putting time into it. Yes they are indie games that have gotten a retail release but they are still indie games something that I didnt buy a PS4 for.

Grainger Games do pre owned 12gb super slim for £59.99 if u don't mind pre owned. You could also trade the pad straight in towards it for £16 if you have a PS4 pad as it works with most games

Lemmings is on sale right now and has just been announced. Dragon Age was last month on Plus and was on sale at the time. Frustrating.

Same here. Been on the look out for one for ages but they're always £150+ which is ridiculous.

Sony happened. The golden days of the PS3 were just a marketing trick to ease us into paying for multiplayer. Now PS4 is in the sales lead Sony has gotten greedy and complacent and don't have any incentive to treat gamers well. 4theplayers my ass.

I also have all 3 and agreed this month (like most months these days) is meh. Seems xbox one with its backwards compatibility have better games with gold now. Ps plus used to be great last gen.

My PS+ has lapsed about 6 months now. Not a big online gamer and the selection of free PS4 games just dont do it for me.

Definately not the bargain it was during the PS3 days.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a game I've been hoping for a while to pop up on PS+ since I bought the original full price. Only thing that's a bit annoying is there's £12 of DLC characters that you need to buy if you want the full roster, and one even has a story mode. ..All of which were free to grab for the Americans for a week, but we didn't get that luxury.

Decent month, had helldivers since launch, it's a good game, can be hilariously difficult at times. It has however gotten repetitive for me, but looking forward to playing again with new people.
