£10 A month? Going by other reviews it costs that a week if its used as it should. Seems a good way to dry clothes as well but not if its that expensive to run.

Depends on how much laundry you have I guess
Fortunately, both the Simple and the Classic models are desiccant dehumidifiers, so my recently purchased EcoAir Classic is working despite the icy temperature of my deal (currently -44!)
To help you to decide whether the Classic version is worth the extra £25.74, here are reviews of each:

Bought one during Christmas lighting deal for £100.
Like it a lot.
I do hope it have digit display of current humidity which can give more precise control.
I initially was quite hesitated as reviews normally say dessiccant can sometime give bad smell, and I am quite sensitive to smells. I did not notice anything smell bad. There was little smell smells differently to normal air, but it is by no means unpleasant, and you can only smell it if you are next to the Dehumidifier. Now, after one month use, I cannot smell anything.
I looked into these as I suffer from very bad asthma, sinus, allergies. Tried the condenser type terrible noise but cheaper to run. Tried 9 stage air purifier sold on Amazon, the problem with all these fan based products is the odour the seem to put out. No problem for most on here reviewing but if you are sensitive to smells I would avoid. I didnt find any improvement using dehumidifiers or so called air purifiers at all. For resportatory problems it's a fine line between drying the air to stop mould, and being too dry which is known to aggravate airways. What I do now is if you have an extractor somewhere in your house i.e. kitchen, put that it on full for 15-30 minutes once a day leave a fanlight open the other end o house - I use a mesh pollen filter you can get for fanlights so to get a good air exchange. Cheap and effective - my humidity level at the moment is 55% hope this is of help

It would be on for a fraction of that, depending where you live at this time of year the humidity in the house will be 70-90%. The cut off feature will kick in when it reaches the level you set it at.

Seems to have been cheaper before on camel camel about £100 back in November?

Yes but 15 quid cheaper than usual. You can wait until it next goes on sale that cheap if you wish- as the weather will start getting milder probably worth waiting a bit. But cheap an eye on it as these sales don't last long.

Its to dehumidify a room after having a bath to keep the mould at bay. Wouldn't leave it on for a week. Would cost a fortune.

We use one to dry laundry in winter. Looking at our bills, I estimate it adds £10 a month to our electric cost. Nothing really for the convenience it offers.

Have had one of these over 2 years now, think I paid £120. Couldn't be without it, especially when drying clothes indoors of the winter months, and to help combat damp in the kitchen from my roof terrace.

Purchased from amazon a few weeks ago when it was £130. Saw it had dropped down to £115 and contacted amazon who refunded me the £15. Great customer service as usual. This is quite expensive to run. Uses over 300w on normal and over 600w on high. Only run mine for an hour or two every other day but does collect a lot of water.

there is no point having one if its only on for that period of time. If its raining outside the thermosrat will measure 100% humidity. That will leak into your rooms within an hour of turning the machine off. Just leave it set to 60% humidity on low for a week and get a rough estimate of how long it will be running.
Keep in mind this machine will not dehumidify the whole house, it will do 1 or 2 rooms at best so keep doors shut where you want it working.

Ours didn't really smell, there was a slight smell of new plastic when it was brand new but that went away within about an hours use.

whats the cost of running one of these for the year? how much watts etc?
AustinEvans to Shaftydude
12 Feb 16#8
It has two different power modes so it depends which is set and also it depends on how humid you want the room as it turns off automatically when it hits your desired level. check online for exact wattage.

im under the impression a simple box heater draws just as much water out of the air than my ecoair, just purely from analyzing a thermostat. However this dehumidifier does make the room feel fresh and easy to breathe in.

Had one for 3 years now. Would not be without it. Eco air customer service are superb. Highly recommended.
As Jk80 said it does dry your washing as well. Works very well. Just remember to clean / hoover the filter regularly.

I have got mine running at home- it takes a lot of moisture out of the air and gives a slight warm air breeze. Just make sure you buy from Amazon as the first two had a rattle so i am on my third!
