I'm obsessed with dehumidifiers. I have both screw fix compressor and this one. The ebac is great in winter for a bathroom as it does pump out some heat. This is really nice when you step out the bath or shower and the room is really warm and dry. It is also great for drying clothes indoors. It is cheaper to use than the tumble dryer and is kinder to your clothes. It is lighter and quieter than the screw fix one. However In the summer I imagine that the extra heat will be unwelcome and washing can be hung outdoors. The other thing about the screw fix one is that the fan runs all the time even when humidity is reached. This one cuts out when humidity is reached. If I could only have one I would probably go with the ebac as it warms a bathroom nicely and also drys clothes well. but I have not used it in the summer yet and the heat it produces may be unwelcome. I currently use both, The screw fix in our basement and the ebac in the bathroom where we dry clothes. It also means I can switch off the extractor fan and keep the window closed so all the lovely warm air stays in the bathroom.

I went for the Amazon one and was thinking of cancelling for the Screwfix but have decided to keep Amazon one as our room is cold so would help there also.

Hi, could you possibly explain a little bit more as to why you went for the screwfix one? I wanted to get this unit for our bathroom as the bathroom doesn't have a window but I don't really know anything about dehumidifiers.
If possibly I am looking for something which can act as a heater as well as a dehumidifier
I do like the sound of warming the air as our room is cold and it is quieter but also it uses up more electricity.

Scary to see how much moisture is in the air in your house when it's collected as litres of water. Amazed to find our humidity level was about 80% in some rooms, now about 50-60%.

Personally id go compressor type. Half the running costs of these. Unless you live in a stupidly cold house then get this.
Still hot price though.

I live in a stupidly cold house, so it's a desiccant dehumidifier for me.

Desiccant dehumidifiers have something akin to nappy liner/ silica gel which absorb moisture over a broader range of temperatures, the moisture is then driven off and collected and as a result take more power, compressor types cause condensation to form on what is essentially an ice-tray from a fridge - they work far better when there's a higher temperature difference - I have the £99 Screwfix model and moisture has dropped from 70% down to 60% in a few days, originally we were getting around a litre and a half each day now it's less than 500ml.

We have the model above this one and it's pretty good. The only difference I can see between the two is a few extra buttons on the higher model.
It works well, but isn't quiet.

We initially got this to control a small damp problem but we now run it on low every day to help with drying clothes and it also gives out a bit of heat as well which means we sometimes just don't put the heater on. Great machine, very effective and not too noisy.

Great price for a great machine. Its larger brother has totally eradicated our damp problem in double quick time - from 70% humidity in some rooms to now hovering around 45% in all rooms and only minimal use each day now to keep it at that. If you are getting one of these you really do need to buy a humidity meter as you can then see just how effective it id
