Err why ? this price will go up before release and pre ordering will guarantee it at this price

Sometimes it's worth it if the price is good as after release you may not be able to get it for the same price. All depends on how confident you are about the quality of the game. I'm pretty confident that this will be worth the 37 quid so I'm taking the gamble

Was there a beta for this with wolfenstein?

The beta was terrible, this will drop in price really quick after launch, if there's anyone still playing online then.

I didn't buy wolfenstien and i got in the first beta. I was't impressed tbh. It feels like it will get old and repetitive very fast.

I've played it - it's incredible if you like old school shooters. I was very pleasantly surprised and I am, without question, pre ordering this on PC and PS4

I've seen a few people say that and i agree. If you replaced the games title from Doom to Halo 5 while keeping the same cover art you wouldn't notice a difference. It also reminds me of that cover art from a XBLA shooter game a few years ago.

There hasn't been a beta yet. Only the closed Alpha for multiplayer, which was fantastic.

Has much similarities to Wolvenstein as a old traditional shooter in modern style graphics. Looks like it has potential to be a great game. Will hold out for a few reviews or a play of it first. Heat for the best price for now.

I can't believe I'm actually replying to this but here it goes. The game is 99% finished it will go gold sometime early april, It's being made by one of the most historical and well respected developers in the industry, it's not going to be **** up at launch. It will not be this price if you try to order a week before release so if ya wanna save some money it's a good idea to buy now. I get if you have been burned by the publisher/developer before then it's probably a good idea to wait till reviews come out but that isn't a problem with the concept of pre-ordering it's a problem with developers launching a broken game.

True. The fact it took ages to actually play it didn't help. Must have been waiting in the lobby for over an hour. Then it was just an anticlimax. Will give the beta a go when that arrives. What I want is just the old doom with better graphics. The same screen layout with the dudes face. The same rubbish monsters with naff oinking noises. but just a bit tidier. This is like a completely new game. I don't like change.

The gameplay and many of the maps on the early Doom, Quakes and first couple of versions of Call Of Duty were superb - the graphics just became outdated.
A lot of the new games today have rubbish gameplay and poor maps compared to the above.
I recall the first service pack for Call Of Duty - United Offensive??? - had superb gameplay and maps but, in time, the graphics just became old.

Agreed. The whole time I was holding down the L3 stick expecting to run. Its natural instinct in a fps game so when it doesn't happen it feels weird and wrong.

Bethesda game studios games are a mess, Bethesda have jack **** to do with ID and this game. They don't own them, Zenimax media owns both companies.
Probably play better on there too, since a keyboard and mouse is the best input method for these type of games.

I can reply in a single word:
RAGE.
Longer version:
ID released Rage at it was a pile of crud! Pre-ordering games supports one thing and one thing only, the concept that developers and publishers can do a half arsed job and screw over fans by releasing something not finished. I'm not suggesting Doom is that, however the concept of pre ordering is terrible, and allows publishers to rip off their fans. Oh, and don't get me started on the implications pre ordering has on the gaming cancer that is DLC
Oh, and before you reply to me, picking holes in my probably terribly written argument, please read this first:
I played RAGE, I quite liked it but I digress. How long have game shops been offering pre orders ? decades. So why only now have games only now being released broken ? It's not pre-orders fault, it's the pressure from publishers on developers to get the games out as quick as they can no matter the state to make more money. It's a problem covering the entire AAA industry at the moment and it's gotta change but that's only gonna happen if you stop buying a game completely from the offending publisher, you not pre-ordering isn't going to do jack **** because they'll get their money from you when you buy the actual product anyway.
Pre-order dlc is **** and that needs to change quick but i don't think not pre-ordering is going to change that either. All these publishers have vast social media presence and if people make them selves heard real loud change will happen, just look at the deus ex debacle with pre-order dlc, people made them selves heard and they changed it. these publishers arn't stupid, if something doesn't go down well in this internet age then it will be changed, if this is a good thing or not that's a whole different discussion.

Hmm. Yes but it's a symptom of wider problems in the gaming industry. Review embargo on release date- another cancer of the industry and absolutely related to this. My opinion is stop pre ordering until they stop embargoing reviews until release day. Publishers are scum these days, just look at the rediculous cash cow market of things like COD. How can any true gamers believe things like yearly cash cow COD crap, release date review embargoes and the incomplete game releases do not represent a failing industry, is beyond me.
I hate what the gaming industry has / is becoming, yes it's down to publishers taking the **** out of us gamers, but we have the power to stop them- stopping pre ordering and only giving them money when a game is proven to be worth doing so (and complete, non buggy crud!)
I'm looking forward to something new, something shaking up the industry. I really hope VR is that.
I'd still wait though. I've got a feeling it will go down to 17 or 18 pounds a week or two before release.

I have been a die hard doom fan from day one and still play the old games even now. I enjoyed the progression from the original through to doom 3.
Bought Wolfenstein just for the doom code. Got an invite to the closed beta and......
Very disappointed, while I realize that the beta was simply to check the servers and not the game itself, the game supplied for the test was awful.
Multi player arena style and not done well by modern standards, it was like playing unreal tournament again.
I'll probably still buy it just so it's in the collection and pray that the solo campaign is good.
BTW if anyone reading this is in a position to help, can we try to get Prey 2 back into production please.

RAGE dropped to the bargain bins so fast though and the same thing will happen to Doom. Just because this company created the deathmatch doesn't mean they are still relevent. Shooters have moved on and for the better.
