Intrigued as to what additive they put in extra when the fuel is delivered from Texaco. The A6 runs well on it, whether that will be the case when Audi put in the "uncheat" software remains to be seen.
Unfortunately you, me and others in the "executive" scheme you don't qualify for cashback on fuel.
Filled up at Oldham on Sunday, noticeable how many taxis were filling up with diesel.

Shame my local Costco (Leicester) has no petrol station but great deal for those near one.
Just curious - I assume you have to show your Costco card *before* they allow you to dispense fuel (manual check or something automated?). Otherwise what if Joe Bloggs just thinks it s a regular petrol station and proceeds to fill up regardless? Could be really awkward at the till!

Not sure if they are all the same but in Bristol its pay at the pump only - you have to scan the barcode on your membership card and then use the payment card, and they have got big signs up stating members only before you drive onto the forecourt. I'm only about 6 miles away, but only fill up if I happen to be there as I reckon the extra miles to get there cancel out any saving, but if you happen to be there every week then its a good deal

Does anyone know whether Costco are routinely cheaper than supermarkets for fuel? I work in Bristol and pass the Costco at Avonmouth twice a day so this would be perfect for me - just weighing up whether the saving warrants the membership cost.
Movingzen to pledmonds
26 Jan 161#25
Depends on how many tankfuls you would use over the year, petrol or diesel, as Costco only sells premium diesel, and then you have the benefits of membership for other car related products, just picked up a pair of Michelin wiper blades for the Audi for under £10. Michelin tyres are probably the cheapest to buy/have fitted. Read the threads on here for savings on many items instore (5 year guarantee on TV's ). It really is a "Marmite" store for HUKD punters.

I can only speak for the Oldham branch but in the time I've been using it, it's been 2-3p cheaper than tesco/asda in the area every time.
pyg to pledmonds
26 Jan 16#61
A recent discussion with the Oldham COSTCO customer service people... Their aim is to be cheeper than the nearest supermarket which sells fuel. I fill my Sprinter pratically every day with £60-£70 of diesel so my savings go to the cost of my membership card. ...We also fill the wifes car up as and when needed so making even more savings.
My sprinter cover 400 - 600 miles a day, making UK nation wide deliveries... My BP fuel card is currently at 98p per litre. Life will be so much better when COSTCO get more fuel points.
BTW... I also get my dinner at any COSTCO I happen to be close to.. So in the future I should be able to do both.

26 Jan 16#28
Thanks. Yes I appreciate "the bargain" when it comes to CostCo - my question was more can I rely on CostCo being 3p (or more or less) cheaper than Asda, year-round, such that I save approx £1.50 on each of the 35ish occasions a year that I fill up (@50l per fill-up)? - if so, £1.50 * 35 = £52.50 saving, which is more than the £30 membership cost = win. If this 3p saving is a loss-leader and most of the year it's the same price, then I'm not going to make back my £30 (leaving aside the potential for other savings).

Or go along with them when they use Costco.
Or just borrow their card.

Regarding Costco diesel, I was at Costco Oldham at weekend during their fuel delivery. A tanker with the livery 'Valero' was delivering their fuel if anyone knows anything about the company. If the driver hadn't appeared as busy as what he was, I'd have quizzed him. I also feel ripped off now, as I paid 95.9p per litre for diesel on Saturday lol
Valero has a refinery around the Milford Haven area, highly unlikely the diesel came from there though, most fuel all comes from the same refinery in this case Ellesmere Port. Tankers can be liveried with anything, but it's the additives which are all important.
