Park Romsey, Winchester Road, Romsey, Hampshire. PARK AND SHOP
Just been checking my receipts from today and seen that I've paid 89.9p a litre for Diesel at the Park And Shop garage on Winchester Road,Romsey.
Not sure how long this is on for or if it's a mistake by the garage but not to be missed if you are passing by.

With 58p Duty, plus 20% Vat, even if the actual fuel was free you'd be paying 70p :disappointed:

Don't be silly there are a lot of hydrogen powered cars running around with no problems, wish people would stick to facts instead of making things up to suite their argument/point of view.

Highly flammable, must be compressed to 1000s of atmospheres, inefficient to produce, and leaks from any container. If you were to leave your car standing for a week or two while on holiday, there wouldn't be any H2 left on your return - and it's not like you can top it back up with a jerry can!

Hydrogen is the most convenient as you can make it at home and you can go over 100 miles on a tank full and you are carrying less weight.

I live in Romsey (small town in Hampshire) but I have a petrol car! Still, it's nice seeing my home town represented on this site.

1) Even using the dirtiest grid electricity (coal), EVs still emit less CO2 than fossil-fuel cars. Source
2) The lithium in EV batteries is nearly infinitely recyclable. Source. EV batteries also have second lives as grid-connected energy storage (Tesla Powerwall)
I agree that hydrogen is a dead end though

Should be 50p a ltr by now

As per post 34, it will never be 50p. The lowest it can go is ~70p assuming the fuel is free (no one adds a penny between it coming out of the ground and you pouring it in your car/bike/can).

Why would I lie on what I paid for fuel. The receipt shows what I paid. Shared it so others could benefit.

How do you make the electricity ?
What do you make the batteries with ?
How do you create the hydrogen without Electrolysis ?
Ethanol would be a good power source that can be mass produced

Yup oil is so cheap now that the barrel they put it in costs more , theres been a 75% drop in oil prices in 2.5years but only 30% or so saving at the fuel pumps !

I read that on Reddit too.
They don't actually put it in barrels, as that would be a waste of volume. It is stored in tanks and tankers.

I believe the fuel duty of a fixed 58p per liter is a very unfair tax especially when it has the VAT added to it, it should be a on off percentage of the wholesale price and without the VAT. If the wholesale price as of today is about 15p per liter, that means we're paying nearly 500% in taxes with the cheapest retail price for nearly a decade of 90p per liter.

Not a misprice, guys. Wholesale fuel prices have fallen dramatically and this is only a few miles from the refinery.
Expect others to follow.

Living near there I'm guessing its a mistake - they meant to type 98 and typed 89... they do "cheap fuel" 2 days a week (more like standard price 2 days a week and 2p more expensive rest of the week) so probably put in wrong price yesterday. You got lucky
