This size is MUCH more common hence cheaper. The difference in price between our two cars, 205/55r16 vs 205/50r17 seems mad to me too. Economy of scale.

Camskill also offer fantastic prices! Obviously fitting would be £5-10 per wheel extra.

I currently have the ContiSport Contact 5s on my car and they are excellent in dry and wet. Far better than the Matador MP 46 Hectorra 2's they replaced.

And far better than the Conti 2s in this post.

I feel there is something wrong the world when 55, with more rubber, cost less than the equivalent 50 size.

My tyres are 205 50 r16. They're about £25 or more expensive than these. I get economies of scale, but I suspect they make the same number of tyres just less batches of 50. Either that, or it's a supply and demand thing, perhaps 55 is less common

More common, I suspect 205/55r16 is the most common tyre on UK roads.

Well worth the extra £9.50 each, the Conti 2s are average at best, the Conti 5s are excellent, doesn't get any better unless you go Michelin Pilot Supersport. Don't scrimp on the one part of your car in contact with the road.

These are great tyres for wet and dry performance, but are very fuel heavy, E/F rated.

30 Jan 16#32
I'd recommend the Cooper tyre that they sell, comes with a lifetime guarantee, had a puncture yesterday - didn't realise so drove on it, damaged the tyre and it only cost me fitting to get a brand new tyre
TedStriker72 to njpugh90
30 Jan 16#33
That's nice to know, but I wouldn't base a tyre purchase on that. Cooper are a huge brand in USA though so probably an ok tyre. Having said that, Americans don't like to go round corners and we probably get an inferior version of the product anyway.

Expired? Can't see these online in 205/55 R16.
Perhaps the Dunlop Sport Bluresponse or Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance offer better value at only £3 more with better fuel economy, better wet grip and less road noise

Wouldn't mind replacing all 4 of mine.
