BT Sim Only - £16 a month if with BT. Free £40 Amazon or iTunes Gift Card. Also topcashback claim £40 cash back too.

Seems like a good deal, just ordered.

Looking on previous deal looks like tethering isn't allowed but works anyway.

Free voucher expires in under 3 days.

The Vol number is near the bottom of the "thanks for your bt order:here's the deal" email. Under the service banner and it says £50 off a btshop phone.
The order number part is not your order number, it's an order reference number and you just leave it blank.

Cheap because it's not the fastest 4G.

Although the BT services piggy back on EE’s network, BT Mobile customers only get access to standard 4G speeds. That means that the double-speed 60Mbit/s and 4G+ 90Mbit/s (the latter is only available on certain handsets) are not available to BT customers. Instead, BT Mobile runs on the regular 30Mbit/s service.

But if you don't have a phone that supports it or you don't live in an area that supports it why pay the extra?
It's best as an option then people can make their own decision?
It's £4 extra a month if you want it. You can get it free for 1 month (before 25th Feb) to try it out.

No wifi calling, hd voice, visual voicemail or VoLTE when it goes live later this year. Also you will have lower priority on crowded cell sites compared to ee users. My advice would be to never go for mvno stick to EE/3/Vodafone direct.

Amazing deal. I'm pretty sure the £40 Amazon thing is new. I've had my eye on this deal for two weeks, just waiting until the last moment to order just in case they better the deal by the time this deal ends. But with the £40 Amazon and £40 Quidco, this deal effectively works out for me as £9.33/month which is a stonking hot deal.
shaggy to Stendhal
14 Feb 16 #37
Quidco was £40 until Tuesday I think. Now it's tcb offering the £40
Infiltrator
14 Feb 16 #38
Got the 3gb deal in December for £10 a month. It was £40 quidco, £30 Amazon voucher and a free Cadbury selection box.
Chocolates arrived quickly, quidco still at 'retailer decision' and the Amazon vouchers arrived yesterday, but only after having to raise a support case as the code they originally supplied didn't match the requirement on the voucher claim form.

If quidco is paid it'll be £4 a month - some of the folk on the 20gb deal at the same time have recently had their quidco paid.

I transferred over from EE and it all went very smoothly.
ism
14 Feb 16 #41
I'm a bit wary of the tcb deal as the prices quoted don't seem up to date. They are saying £25 for non bt customers and £20 for bt customers.

Tethering - on a iPhone the option seems to disappear but folk have said it works on android.

Take it from me

You're half right; the brands will remain separate but the service preference will no longer favour EE. BT will simply remove the restrictions that EE place on them as a virtual operator.
shaggy
14 Feb 16 #50
Indeed. The only phone where wifi calling works regardless of whether originally on EE or not is the iPhone.

On the nexus 6p for example it's a built in feature in android but won't work on EE unless the phone has an EE ROM!

shaggy
14 Feb 16 1 #53
i dont think you can query TCB or quidco until a week at least.

if youre worried, just cancel your BT order and order another one! i did that because i ordered a sim earlier in the week without the amazon £40 voucher, i cancelled that and ordered another one.

Their credit check seems to be really relaxed too IMHO. I think they are more concerned about increasing their subscriber numbers.

shaggy to Stokey90
15 Feb 16 1 #56
What is worrying you? The only difference between this and EE seems to be lack of VoLTE and wifi calling. Both imho are not worth losing sleep over. They're typical first world problems we can do without.

I have wifi calling on my EE sim which I'm moving over to BT and to be honest wifi calling is hit and miss。if wifi reveption is not strong enough (eg you walk out of the house whilst on the call) then the handover between wifi calling and 4G is not seamless and the call drops. Happens to me a lot and something I can live without.

VoLTE is nice to have but not a deal breaker. I understand it allows you to browse data whilst on a phone call. Ask yourself how many times you will ever need that?

Data speeds, for me at least seem to be about the same on EE and BT. Around 20mps and sometimes higher. Do you really need anything faster???

Oh and conference calling is available on EE but not sure on BT. Again, I must have used this only once in the past year. Nice to have, but will you miss it?

Personally speaking the only thing worrying me about this deal is that you're stuck with BT Broadband if you want the cheaper price for mobile. I guess there will be more deals this time next year so not a huge concern when you're getting this deal for around £12 if cashback is included and an Amazon voucher on top which I will use definitely.

For those that have claimed the voucher where is the VOL reference number? When I did this before with my broadband it was on my order confirmation email but I can't see to find it on my mobile confirmation details also the order number I have is more than 12 digits long.

The FAQ suggests the VOL is on the bill but I've not been billed anything yet so not entirely sure how people have claimed the voucher yet.

I can't seem to get IMGUR images to link on here???

I just did a couple of tests, both EE and BT were very similar in speeds.

Perfectly acceptable and negligible difference imho and faster than my broadband , and much much faster than Three which I was on a year ago - barely got 2-3 Mbps if I was lucky on that and even someone else I know who changed to BT from Three a few days back is getting mobile reception and also the voice quality is noticeably better.

Ported my number across today from EE. A nice change to be able to stream without with worrying about the data and good speeds to match.

Is anyone using this sim in an iphone? Does it connect to a WiFi hotspot automatically or do you have to have the bt WiFi app on jn the background?
Coreydeals to shaggy
19 Feb 16 #96
It should connect automatically once it is all set up. I don't think i've opened the app in ages and it still continues to connect as soon as I am near a hotspot. It's really handy since that is the case rather than always checking WiFi to see if there is a hotspot nearby, although you can use the app to check if there are hotspots nearby.
shaggy
19 Feb 16 #97
Ok I've only just been out now since using the sim from this morning and so far no hotspots nearby. The sky wifi app doesn't connect automatically but you have to physically go into the wifi menu and connect.
Coreydeals
19 Feb 16 #98
"On Apple devices you will also be asked to install the BT Wi-fi profile to set up the automatic connection. If you’re asked, enter your phone’s PIN (which is the one you use to unlock it)."

Have you installed that as of yet? That may be why, or you may have just not come in to contact with one.
shaggy
19 Feb 16 1 #99
Yeah I've installed the profile and asked for PIN as well. I'll uninstall and reinstall in case I missed anything.

By the way installing the profile messes up the data setting for other network sims if you plan to change sims in your iPhone . I did that last week just to activate my BT sim then took it out and put my EE one back in and the data wouldn't work until I deleted the profile

29 Feb 16 #104
Avoid BT!
I have this deal but have no signal at home (found out after getting back from holiday). BT are refusing to let me cancel as I contacted them the day after the 14 day cooling off period expired. This cooling off period is from the day you order it from their website, even though you don't receive the sim until 2 days later. They are also telling me I have full signal at home as that's what the EE website is telling them - they refuse to come to my home and see for themselves.
I'm now going through the Ofcom complaints process to see if I can get out of the contract.
Anyway - I'd recommend avoiding BT and its overseas call centres like the plague. I wish I'd chosen Vodafone's deal instead.
