Actually most 'pro' IT types will have every component ever made, except for the ones you actually need to build this
If it needed DDR or a socket 462 sempron I'd be in luck!

These appear good value, but the processor is quite weak and by the time you have added RAM, HDD and Windows(if your building a WinBox) it might be more cost effective to got for an all in one solution like the VOYO V3 for 135 notes:-
X7-Z8700 (x2 as quick as the N2807)
4Gb RAM
128Gb HDD + upto 128Gb TF slot
USB TypeC x1
USB3 x2
USB2 x1
HDMI (with 2160p output)
-Supports H.265, MPEG4/XVID, WMV/VC-1, MPEG2 MP, AVS, H.263 up to 50 Mbps; VP8 up to 30 Mbps , 4k: 3840 x 2160
2.4GHz and 5GHz Wifi Connectivity
Gigabit Ethernet
Bluetooth 4.0
3.5mm Audio Jack
Windows 10
Size 130mm x 130mm x 10mm
But at the end of the day it all depends what you want it for. Their are cheaper media boxes if that's your aim.

I had the earlier voyo but the emmc died in it. Replaced it with a J1900 Brix or I'd have snapped this one up.

Do you know what the difference is, between the V2 and the V3?
Nexusfifth to Fleabum
1 Feb 16#41
You can easily pick up a 4GB RAM for 12-13£ and a 128GB SSD for say 27£ which makes the build cost 120£ and the ssd will be faster than emmc in voyo and I would say in most uses this would count for more than the improvement in processing speed. Voyo does look slicker though...

Was going to post this earlier but too busy rushing out to buy. Great little boxes (This is my third). Add an SSD and some memory and you have a perfectly silent fanless basic PC. Heat added.

2 stupid questions: 1. based on the specification, the normal ssd seems to be too big to fit in? 2. it has no mem and no harddrive. why this thing is so popular? small?

A standard 2.5" drive will fit.
Form factor, power consumption.
You could possibly run the OS from a USB drive which is cheap, and install 4GB memory, if on a tight budget.

Most IT types will have spare components lying around to complete the setup and it had vesa holes to mount on the back of TV/monitor.

I've got this and its great! Windows 7 installed (40ish seconds to fully boot). Using it as a emulator/media box. Plays everything perfectly!

I've bought 5 windows 7 keys from these people for around £13 with no problems upgrading to win 10. You do have to telephone activate these though, should help to keep costs down.
Got one from St Enoch square store half an hour ago, still seem to have stock. Make sure and take a waterproof bag, it's pishing down outside!

Yes but unlike the Intel NUC there is no remote control sensor

I looked at the website and checked out some of their other barebones. While this might be a deal the memory and hd they link to in one of the comments definitely is not and you should be looking to get the 8gb ram for under £30 and a 240gb ssd for under £40. Not the £50 plus they want for each.
As an aside, the brix with the r9 does run gta V.

Not ideal... These remotes come with IR receivers.
Thanks, just reserved one. They have both this and the NUC (nuc is £79) in stock in Basingstoke. Went for this because it's fanless.
Nexusfifth to wmd

I have just seen the NUC as well, if you want it as a (powerful) media box the IR receiver might have been a better option. NUC allows you to disable the fan in BIOS, so you can make it into a "fanless" machine. It runs at 50-ish degrees under normal load, I have set it up to turn the fan on if it ever reaches 70 and has never happened yet. Anyway I would probably go for the NUC between these 2 and 10£ difference but NUC is nowhere to be find around me, while this is readily available for some reason...
